I put the answer in white after the question---someone told me about that trick! ;)
I'm glad the girls got their pen pals going. That is a good experience.
I was going to bed early tonight. I always go to bed by 11:15 at Mom's! So I had better sign off. Nite...

See, when you said country and rap, I would have thought Kid Rock. Of course, you would have had to throw in rock too. I swear he is the most confused music artist of all time. :lmao:

I love the fact that the girls are using "snail mail" as they call it. I think it's a lost form of writing now. And it shouldn't be.

Night!!!! I'm going to go kill a few threads. It was only 6 in July. :rotfl2:

I'll tell her tomorrow. She's sound asleep already (guess she doesn't take after me in that department :lmao: ) DD is excited about this too. When she wrote her letter, I didn't have any stamps. Since my dad happens to be a mail carrier, she walked his route to find him so he could take care of it for her. :goodvibes

My DD was showing me how nice you DD's stationery was and the picture she drew etc. She is such a girlie girl.
Now I will have to go to Swoozies and get DD some "nicer" stationary I think she wrote on plain paper and was upset since she used up hers a couple of days ago on letters to her friends at camp.:rotfl:

Trying to squeeze in a quick Good Morning to everyone! Bopsmom, you take care of everything and keep safe.

I love the idea of pen pals amongst the Jr. TKers. I agree, the art of a good letter is totally lost. My gf in Scotland and I write letters to each other. Its just nice to have something to look forward to in the mailbox! And I love the idea of holding a letter in my hands that was in her hands just a few days ago. I have a box of our letters and I absolutley love it---some of these letters date back to our high school days!

I think its so important to introduce a variety of music into kids life. Listening to a lot of stuff on the radio today, it just reminds me so much of stuff I used to listen too all those years ago. Its a cycle.

I remember Sha-Na-Na too. I used to watch their show on tv. I'm a big Motown girl myself. Never got too much into Hippie Rock, but did love the soft rock of the 70's and I'm not ashamed to say I love Disco and 80's punk/alternative scene! I've actually been trading music with my nephew before he goes to college. He thinks Heart is amazing, loves David Bowie and the Cure. I don't think there's enough time to give him all the "good" music of my youth.

Ack! I'm taking the twins to college in a few weeks. I'm not ready!

Ok, I'll be back later. Happy Tuesday everyone!

College! I lived at home for it. Thankfully, Millersville had what I wanted to major in. Not all 'state colleges' did. It was hard enough to have the $250 a semester to commute. That was a lot of money then. When I got my masters, I had to stay in a dorm 2 summers in Clarion and that was an experience. It wasn't even full then.
The pen pals could design their own stationary with stamps, stickers, or even the computer. No, not the computer. They would be taking your computer time away!
I only killed 4 threads in July. I must be picking safe threads!:rotfl: Probably do not spend enough time on other threads..too busy here.
I have several emails to answer. We are to have severe thunderstorms this afternoon/evening so not sure if I'll get back.
Have a good day...

Morning All,

Haven't checked in for a while. Been enjoying the summer. :sunny:
Had to go into work for a few days. We lost 2 Jr. High teachers over the summer and I had to help interview for the new ones. It's more fun being on this side of the desk in an interview. :) Can't believe I go back to work for good in 2 weeks!!!!!:teacher:

To all those suffering from aches and pains = Hope you feel better soon. Try not to Dis so often Pikeser!

Lighttech

- we'll forgive you if you don't check in for a while, under one condition.... someone must check in right after baby Lighttech is born to at least give us his stats and name. You'll drive us crazy for a month if someone doesn't share that much with us. :hyper:

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Talk to ya later!

Hi Killers, see I missed alot yesterday, even Wendy posting from Scotland.
Bopsmom Hope your safe and I love your Hurricane prepare list:thumbsup2. Don't have time to read everything, but I was tring to find the lego sites you guys had put up. When I was reading everything I missed I think it was in June, maybe July those of you with DS's were talking about lego's and star Wars and a few sites you posted. I tried going back to find them but since I was reading about 100 pages:confused3. So if you know them could you post them again. I made the 'mistake' of telling DS and now he has been asking the past couple of days for me to find them.

Thanks!!!! Talk to you later

Hi guys,
Just a quick Hi :wave2:
Thanks for all the :pixiedust:
The storm went exactly where I told DH it would 2 days ago:lmao: dang I'm good;) We are getting a nice steady rain, and no wind. We need the rain. Since DH insisted we clear the decks and porches, he will be cleaning and acid washing them this afternoon:rotfl:

I still have my hair appointment (color today, cut on friday) so I won't look a mess on Sunday.

We are enjoying a nice rainy day.
Later:flower3:

disney54us...I was talking about the lego.com site. On the right hand side there's a specials and deals section to click on. They had some Star Wars stuff on there, but I haven't checked in a while....

M&N...I practically commuted to Binghamton my third year in college. We had moved off campus, and for some reason I didn't take the transition very well. I think it was the feeling of really having to be responsible and to be an "adult". I drove the 90 minutes each way for a few weeks until my mother and my friends staged in intervention. After a while, I was fine, but it was tough. I took to the dorm my first year right away....but then again we were the only suite of girls (6 of us) on a guys floor---so it was easy to see why!

Afternoon!!!! I've been checking out the Freebie thread on the Budget Board and can you believe there is drama going on even there.

Bopsmom-DD actually made the stationary off of the computer. Much easier than having to run out to buy some. And she likes doing that kind of stuff. Glad things are ok for you weather wise.

MagiKitty-I grew up with lots of different kinds of music too. My parents use to have the best 8-track tapes. :rotfl2: Those were the days, I miss them.

D&DDisney-Can you believe how fast summer went? It seems just like yesterday, they got out. DD starts orchestra in a couple of days.

lighttech-have to agree with D&DDisney on having someone check in on here when baby lighttech arrives.

M&N-storms predicted here too. But they have been so wrong with the weather this summer that I'll believe it when it happens.

Racetrack...I've been on the Freebie board too. I don't know if its true regarding a certain someone, but if she posts something, and its of interest to someone, then what is the harm really? I mean, I've never found something to post on there, more power to someone who does and takes the time to share it. Its just another case of the mob mentality, no matter how lighthearted the approach.

PS--not only did we have 8-track tapes (and a player IN THE CAR!), my dad had those huge spools of tape, the ones the size of dinner plates. The kind you had spool to spool. I don't really remember him using it except to have interviews with me at age 3-5, which thank goodness have been lost forever. I guess I got my tech-geek from him.

Well, you tell her we think that it was very pretty. My DD LOVES stationary! I taught her 4 years ago to emboss(sp) cards. She makes notes for her teachers, friends, aunts, grandmothers and she does our Christmas cards. It's a lot of fun and something she and I can do together.
This last fall we started making the beaded ornaments(remeber the 70's) working on them was how I found out about my degenerative eye disease- she/we love to create new designs and "name" them.

I think it's very important in the computer game, techno speed life that children learn to slow down and do something with their imaginations and hands.

MagiKitty, we had the 8-track in the car and we had a portable one too. Use to drag that outside when we were playing. We thought we were so cool. :cool2: :lmao: Don't remember having the big tapes. I think the biggest complaint they have about a certain poster is the suspect she is doing it for cash. If it is true, I can see their point. It seems everyone else posts to help others because they all love freebies. Maybe if this other poster just said what her interest is in all this, things would be better over there. Or all the regulars on that thread could just put her ignore and not even have to see her posts. Or maybe they just don't like change. :confused3

Bopsmom-DD is into all that arts & crafts stuff. She's quite good too. Doesn't get it from me. :rotfl: Just yesterday, she was measuring the little ones because she wants to try to make them new pajamas.
