Have you ever stayed at South of the Border? DH and I went there once on a long drive. We didn't actually get to stay at the motel b/c there were huge storms rolling thru and the motel lost power as we were looking at room prices, so we drove a little further and found a Quality Inn or something that hadn't been blacked out. But, we went back the next day on our way home, and we had a lot of fun taking pics of all the big, kitschy (sp?) statues and stuff. I think I remember the rooms being fairly reasonable, and very simple, sort of old, but clean which is all I really care about when its just a stopover.

(I'm not easily offended as long as I know something is done in good humor... so, I hope I don't offend anyone by posting it.) Its not dirty or anything, just a lot of stereo types.

Like I said, I can't vouch for the rooms, but it really is like a page out of 1950's America. I really enjoy bizarre Americana like that (you know World's Largest Ball of Yarn, etc.) And, after we stayed at the local Quality Inn or whatever it was that did have power, we went back the next day and got some very funny pictures. Apparently they also have campgrounds... I'm not sure where, I remember them being right off the highway? (Its been a good few years though...)

Haven't stayed at South of the Border but we do stop there every trip. We have to pick up...um....supplies for the boys back home. Alot of people talk bad about the place but I think it's fun.

Last year, we made it half way through South Carolina before we stopped. Had reservations for a hotel that offered suites for under $100. Ok, not really a suite but connnecting rooms with a pull-out sofa. But it was clean and had a restaurant nearby. It worked. This year we are planning on getting to Savannah before we stop. Kids will be more familiar with the long drive so hoping all goes well.

Still have 2 girls left-I wonder where their parents are???probably made a run to the border themselves! They are playing wii with DH now.

Party went well, they swam from 6 until 10-we just kept tossing pizza to them out the back door. They came in got into PJ's, played wii, watched Sydney White movie and the Simpson movie, we went to bed at 11:30. I walked into the family room this morning and it looked like a box of hamsters! They were all piled up in covers, blankets, and Wnk was in the big middle. I fed them breakfast casserole(DD's choice), muffins and fruit salad. They swam again and most have gone home. No damage, no fighting, no a single cross word or deed. I think it went great, even DH says it was absolutely no problems

actually I have enough food to do it again but DD is having major extractions done next week and won't be able to eat all the junk we fed them.
I think the trick is to put them into a food coma!

We had chips, soda, pizzas, chocolate fondue(pound cake, strawberries,marshmellows to dip), s'mores, a triffle bowl full of candy(empty this morning), popcorn, cookies(2 kinds), then breakfast this morning.
DH is playing Dance, Dance Revolution right now. gotta go watch.

Don't have any suggestions about snugglies that they have now, DD weighed 4 pounds at birth and was only about 14 pounds by 11 months when she was walking. My SIL (the all knowing one) made snugglies for her because the regular ones were too big. I can check with her about pattern she used.

Come on down the pools empty-ADULT SWIM!!!!!!Bring rum-my lime tree is loaded down, we can make margaritas!

Ha, when they are in bed you don't NEED them -it's when they are awake that you need them. Better yet, when they are old enough to make them for you!

please note that I did give them a healthy "fruit" choice last night and this morning the fact that they smoothered it in chocolate is not my fault! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
