Hello everyone,

I have not been on in awhile. I am so pooped from working nights.

The great news is that my waitress days have come to an end. I got a job offer earlier this week to work in an auto dealership as a service advisor. I am going to start there on Monday. The hours are really long, but I guess every job has its drawbacks. I am just thankful I did not have to waitress long. I have a new found respect for all waiters and waitresses, the job is alot harder than I ever thought it would be.

I have the weekend to catch up on the board so I will be back to quote on alot of things tomorrow.

Kim

Hi Kim! :wave2:

Thanks guys. I can't wait to get started, but I am also a little nervous.

Kim

OK, I'm up to page 121 now.
Back to my random posts.

:lmao: :lmao: I haven't been "flat" in a long time... but I do remember enjoying it... :lmao:
:lmao: :lmao: Me neither.

Ooooo, Shmu! (now where's that shaking finger smiley)
Tell DD she did right even though I'm sure she knows that already.
:rotfl: :rotfl:
I will and thanks.

OOOHHHH Shmu: TMI

Hi everybody! I'm here at the library and wanted to check in and say hello. We're having a blast. Hope y'all are well too. I'll be "back" Saturday night or Sunday evening, depending on how long the takes on Saturday. TTYL!!
:hippie:

I have been stalking the thread regarding the DVC Christmas tree swap. Considering that I was the 1st to post; less than 30 seconds after it began, you might say "stalk" is correct. I had been on since 6 am but I got one! I feel like I won the lottery I'm easily impressed.

Well, today DH and I are "girding our loins" for tomorrow night.
Silly us, we agreed to let DD have 7 friends (think: frenzied, non-stop-eating, screeching, running-around-the-house-in-wet-bathing-suits, scaring poor Winkleman, using-15-colors-of-nail-polish-on-my-beige-carpet-11year old girls)
Dang, I knew DH and I shouldn't have opened that 2nd bottle of wine that Friday night 3 weeks ago. DD always "knows" when to ask for these things at that point:laughing:

She is so funny "planning" this.
She and the girls have most of the entertainment and food worked out. I just have to buy from their lists today. She has to clean the house in exchange. DH got off easy-the pool is already clean-sterile actually-and ya'll know why!! We love him even though he put the "hyphen" in anal-retentive. He will probably be doing Dance, Dance Revolution with them too.:rotfl2: He is their live entertainment.:rotfl2:
   for the tree.
Have fun with the party. It'll be a great memory.

Oh Shmu...you sly fox.
knuddel.gif

Hope you had a wonderful evening.
You can be soooo proud of that DD of yours!
and I am proud. Thanks.
She's not perfect, but I am seeing a lot of her strengths coming out.

Hey Shmu...how's it going? What's the status of DS's surfing lessons?

I had to tell you. I was talking to BF last night about our TKer meeting. He asked how we were to recognize each other. I told him that he and I have to perfect the white kitty dance in my signature so we would be recognized! I started to do the dance and he just laughed at me. But wouldn't that be funny? I'm going to start learning it tonight....
I'll explain surfing below.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Dancing Kitty. Wonder if my DD would learn it with me. Hmmmm. We'll see.:rotfl:

Shmu - Glad to hear DD is sticking up for herself. Good for her. (Although I still haven't made it back to what the original situation was. I think I missed a page or two somewhere.)
To put it in short form.
DD went on a mission trip with church
Had food poison a few days before she left so she didn't eat a lot.
Children's Pastor jumped the gun and falsely accused her of having an eating disorder.
We have confronted Senior Pastor and Children's Pastor.
All good now.:thumbsup2

OK........on the surfing lessons for DS.
Sadly it is true. The wave pool at Typhoon is closed until next year they said.
No surfing lessons.:sad1:
Told DS he had a choice.
Can do the Scuba Dive at EPCOT that you don't need to be certified in or he can have the cash to spend on what he wants.
He really wants a big picture with our family name crest on it from UK so he is thinking about taking the cash and getting that.
He has time to think about it.
On the positive side, we said it just gives us an excuse to go back to Disney the following year. He can do surfing lessons then.

Good evening all!

Not much is going on here in the Pikester house. The kids will be heading off to bed soon (please, please go to bed!) and DH is off on an adventure. He is staying at a hotel in Manchester, NH where the first 100 miles of the Prouty bike ride starts (it ends in Hanover, NH). I mentioned before that he is riding in the Prouty which is a bike ride that earns money for cancer research. The whole ride that he is doing is 200 miles. 100 miles tomorrow and 100 miles on Saturday. He will be home to sleep in is own bed tomorrow night and then will drive to Hanover, NH which is where the Saturday 100 miles starts and loops back to finish. I asked him if he wanted the kids and I to be there at the finish but he said no. To him it's just a normal bike ride that doesn't need any fanfare. OK. No problem. I'll ask him again tomorrow about being there on Sat. and see if he changes his mind.
   Yay for your DH.

Hi all,

Just checking in to say Hi and Good-bye. We leave tomorrow am, bright and early..:cool1: If I can get some internet access (Wi Fi) in the wilderness, I'll send ya a postcard. I have an old old laptop I take along to play movies for the kids as we drive. Beats having to buy a DVD player and sometimes I can get an internet connection.

Have a great week everyone. Don't have too much fun w/o me. :sad1:
:hippie: Have fun.

I was able get DS10 to relax. I told him that DH would be so impressed that he even attempted to draw the Giant Spongebob that he wouldn't care that it wasn't completely colored in with yellow. I finally convinced him to finish it! He put a big thought bubble above Spongebob's head saying "Welcome home Daddy" ( he also added a little bubble off to the side that said "I ran out of yellow chalk" :rotfl: ). My DH called to let me know that he survived his ride and I mentioned to him about Spongebob (running out of yellow chalk). He was able to prepare himself with an appropriate reaction before he got home.
Love the Sponge Bob with Chalk story.
We love Sponge Bob. Great brain vacation.

:hippie: Congrats on the new job.

Wheeewwwwww. I'm all caught up for now.
Sorry if I missed anything. That was a lot.
Now I'm off to start practicing the Kitty dance.
I think it'll be my new workout routine and then maybe I'll be flatter to hang out with my "flat" TKers. :lmao: :lmao:

Kinda' glad I didn't catch the story... I would've been furious. I'm glad its worked out though...

As for surfing. What a bummer! Sorry about that. But, at least you guys seem to be turning it into a positive. Good for you! :yay:

Ok, that's my morning check in. Boards are running real slow for me this morning, so it took too long to get to this point. See y'all later!

Good Morning! Good Morning! We've talked the whole night through. Good Morning! Good Morning! To YOU!

Does anyone know what movie the line from that song comes from?

Shmu: Sorry to hear about DS's surfing lessons. I'm guessing the first you heard of it was on here. I wonder what happens to those poor people who booked the lessons based on reading about it in a book and they don't know about or have access to a place like the Dis that keeps them updated about stuff? I guess they are SOL!

Its from Singing in the Rain.
Can't remember the stars names in it, but they stay up all night trying to fix a movie concept and realize they've worked straight thru till morning. :cutie:

Morning!!! Feels strange to be on here at this time. Decided to take a break and just sit at the computer for a while.

Shmu-Sorry about DS's surfing lessons. Disney never called you about it, did they? I agree with Pikester, what about the people who don't know about the Dis for their info? But it does sound like he has some good back up plans. Though your idea as returning next year to do the surfing is the best. Exactly the type of reasoning I would use for a return trip. :rotfl:

Hi lighttech & Pikester!!!

I did email magsnden this morning. I told her that we missed her and we worry when one of our friends doesn't check in for a while. I also told her that we hope she checks in soon if only for a minute. Sent you love and hugs from all the TKers.

And lighttech-I added your email address too.

You got it!

Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor (I copied the names off the back of the movie!)

I'm going to posts this over on the Families forum, but I figured I'd ask here too. (Its off topic for DIS, but Families tends to go that way w. any kid/baby related questions.)

Have any of you Mommies used any kid of baby carrier that you love? I used a Snugli w/ DS, and although I like having him in a carrier, I didn't like the carrier at all. I found it made my shoulders sore, and was very awkward for him until he got older. Plus, its so over engineered w/ a ton of buckles and clips and this that and the other... its hard to get baby in and out and inconvenient to travel with and wash. (First generation Snugli's were so much better... I loved the idea of the ones my mom had... made of curdoroy, cotton and comfy fabrics and just used buttons.)

Anyway, I've been looking at more of the sling type options that can hold a newborn in a "cradle carry" or hold an infant/toddler front, back or on your hip (I'm REALLY interested in the Hip carry). But, I'm leary to spend all the $ w/o some first hand opinions.

Thanks!

Hi! And thanks!

So, I'm assuming KB did it again last night? I wasn't watching, but DH came into the bedroom mumbling something along the lines of "I hate that guy." :rotfl: Usually means #18 has pulled it off.

Wish I could help you with this one but I think I had the same type of Snugli as you. Lots of straps and clips and just a plain old pain to use. We had one for our first DD and unless both DH and I were together, it was too much trouble to use. Certainly not convenient if I was home by myself.

I would ask on the Family Board too. I think I've seen threads about this before with lots of replies.

yeah, he won again. I can't even get my DH to watch the end of the races with me anymore. I think I"ll tone down the celebrating I do.....maybe :rotfl2:

Thanks, I did post over there. Plus, I had piggy-backed on a thread about someone asking about slings for WDW and got a few answers. Yeah, I loved the idea of being able to carry DS around... and it definitely let me get a little housework done, but it was just a royal pain to put it all together. Some of these slings that are trendy now (but are actually the styles that have been in use for hundreds if not thousands of years) are much simpler and more like little swatches of fabric w/ pouches for the babies... We'll see.

I do hate how expensive they are though... I feel like if I was just a little crafty I could whip one up myself for a fraction of the cost.

I read the thread that you got some replies to about your question. It seems like bumbershoot has lots of experience with all different kinds. And it seems she tried to make her own too. You could always pm her and find out how she did it.

We must be on the same page... I just got my response from the PM I sent Bumbershoot earlier. I remember bumping into her before when I first started on DIS... I spent a lot of time in the Families forum then while planning our vacation. She's always VERY helpful... seems like quite a nice lady.

I see her around the boards alot and always read her posts. Sometimes they are quite entertaining. She is very helpful and nice to everyone...haven't seen her be mean to anyone and around here that is a big plus in my book.

I agree... on both counts. She definitely marches to the beat of her own drummer. Which I applaud her for, and I've never seen her be judgemental. That's the kind of poster that got me hooked on DIS in the first place.
