Morning all, still can't breathe very well. I've turned to drugs. I can't taste my cough drops now. I haven't told the bride yet that I'm sick. I'm hoping to cover my red nose with concealer and use my hankie to both dry my eyes and blow my nose. Wish me luck.

Pikester, I'd like to suggest for your DS's reading the Eragon and Eldest books by Christopher Paolini. If he already read the Harry Potters, he should have no problems with these. The third book is due at the end of the summer. What's most amazing is the author was 18 y/o when it was published. I'd also recommend the Phillip Pullman Golden Compass series. I thought they were fantastic. Ignore the movies of the same name. The books, as always, were a million times better. I always like the series books, I get so attached to my characters.

I had a BF once who was really into racing. He knew Tony Stewart and I've met him. From the looks of the commercial, he's gotten a little chunkier and hairier since then. Really really nice guy and strangely enigmatic, I found him quite attractive. Let's see--I used to cheer on the M&M car, just coz I thought it was cute, but I think the driver now is one of those bad boys? I like the Talledega (sp?) race just coz I like the name, although the closest to me would have to be the Poconos race, so that'll have to be my favorite. That is the limit of my NASCAR knowledge. I wanted to join the conversation, I felt a little out of the loop.

There is no such thing as decluttering in my house. Its just a rearrangement of previous placement. I try to recycle, donate as much as possible, but I have such guilt for my unappreciating my belongings. Its really difficult to break that mind set. Good for you for decluttering!

Just wanted to share this thread about Finding Jesus at DW: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1860773

I just checked that out. That was great and really summed up so much of what makes Disney so great. I have it saved on my computer now and am going to pass it along to some of my family who just don't get why I love Disney so much.

Interesting ways to comment on posts Shmu and Bopsmom. I'm having trouble doing it the regular way. :badpc: I'll just try and type and make some sense. ;)

I am determined to get my small office done today. I did get the window cleaned. And my computer called to me to see who's up early this am....and here I sit. If I want to do any more windows I need to get my nightie off. I guess I should have said put on real clothes??? :scared1: Get dressed doesn't sound right either. Anyway it is a cool day to do windows. It may rain this afternoon or evening---again. At least no hail here. I was out in hail once in my life and that was enough. I think I'll use Shmu's way of commenting, It kinda cool!! I've been working on the front room and finally pulled out the old baby stuff. It's in a pile waiting for DH to load it up tonight. I would donate it but it is all pretty old and wouldn't want take a chance of any of it being unsafe. Good luck with the office today.

I live near Hershey and Racetrack is coming on Sunday and we are meeting. We asked for some conversation help...in case we are speechless.:rotfl: Anyone else coming this year, let me know. I haven't been back to the new ride and the Boardwalk area this year. It wasn't open the first 2 times I went and the last time I went with friends who don't do coasters. I won't do them all either. Wait, very important question here. Which coasters won't you do?

Questions to ask your NASCAR friends:
1. Who is your favorite driver? # 88-Dale Earnhardt Jr Kyle Busch-#18
2. Who do you boo? (Or least fav driver) The Busch boys-Kyle and Kurt Boo Kurt Busch all you want, he is the most annoying driver on the track. Kyle only gets booed because he is just so much better than everyone else. :rotfl2:
3. What is your favorite track? I like Bristol and small tracks It's Bristol, baby!!!!
4. Who do you think will win the championship this year? Hope Jr does Counting on Kyle to win but the chase can mess everyone up
5. Do you like the commercials with NASCAR drivers? My fav is the AFLAC duck driving Carl Edwards car with feathers going all over the track and then the duck has on his helmet and then the duck jumps off the car and tries to flip like Carl does. There is also a series on ones with a boy named Warren Wallace who thinks he's the best driver--much better than his 'cousin' Mike who is a racer. Like those too along with the FanView one where kids are controlling the cars instead of the drivers
I really do need to get cleaning so I'll let Racetrack give some pointers but keep in mind that she likes Kyle Busch---the current 'bad boy'...even the drivers complain about his driving.
They are not complaining but expressing their FRUSTRATION that he is so much better than they are.

MagiKitty- Try to get some rest today. Yeah, Tony is pretty cool off track. He used to be Nascar's bad boy before Kyle took over. :lmao: Oh, and the proper name for the track you like is just 'Dega. :rotfl: :rotfl: Just joking. Actually you know more than some of my family who have listened to me for years talk about this. One of the reasons I am working on the decluttering is I keep thinking about the move to Florida. I don't want to bring all this stuff with us. Hopefully, by the time we do move in a couple of years, I will be dont.

Thanks for passing it along. What an AWESOME blog entry! I totally agree.

MK, feel better. Take it really easy--you do NOT want to end up with pneumonia!

My sister comes in from Turkey today--they just landed about 1/2 hour ago. We're on our way to Whole Foods, and then to see them. I'm SO excited!!

My fingers are sore from cleaning windows. Isn't that weird? But I have to put my index fingers in the holes to tilt them in to wash. I didn't think I was going to get one back so it could lock. I saw a little bunny hop from my bush under the window to under the big fir tree that has branches to the ground. I've seen his mommie (or daddy) on my front walk just sitting there. They are so sweet. I saw 3 squirrels in the back yard so I threw out some stale almonds. I also let a bee in but he thankfully left when I went to get the fly swatter. Didn't realize washing windows could be so full of nature.

BTW, I think Jeff Gordon was the villan before KB. Now Jr fans cannot boo him cause he's on the same team.

Still need to clear out my office...after my salad...;)

M&N....thank you for directing all of us to that wonderful post. It really has resonated in me. I was already rather giddy that my day was going so well, that I have so much to appreciate and look forward to. I'm always looking for the little signs that remind me that God is everywhere. This came at a perfect time.

Me too. That's why I had to share it. I thought some would see it on their own but some posts go down the list so fast, they get missed. I don't always take the time to check other threads either.

I haven't had lunch. The sun is coming and going. I'm watching the squirrel bury the nuts I put out. He's sure busy. I think he feels good about his day too. :squirrel:

Take care of yourself M&N! Lunch is one of the three most important meals of the day...

I watched this adorable movie last night called Lars and the Real Girl. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. But ultimately, its about how you can love someone so much and put up with their, ahem, eccentricities. It was really nice to see a movie with no violence, no gratuitous naked people, and potty mouths. Just a sweet movie. (Disclaimer: Lars has a "girlfriend" who is a life-size doll, usually for the adult male population. But you don't see anything. Its implied that she's "correct")

lighttechI said band members tend to behave, didn't say all ;) In middle school the entire band class almost got suspended for giving the substitute teacher a hard time.

I really don't think TKers will have a problem with conversation.:chat: :hyper2: Have fun!

Whew, thought I would take a minute to sit down. 2 bags of trash gathered along with an old bike that has been broken for over a year. We put it up there to remember to fix it but it never happened. Once that stuff is gone along with gigantic baby bouncer, I'll be half way done with that room. :cool1:

MagiKitty-with the description of that movie, looks like I'll have to watch it during the day. It's missing the 3 main requirements for movies to get DH to watch it. :rolleyes1 Unless, of course, it's a Disney movie but we don't talk about that. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'll answer for my DH who is our NASCAR fan.
1. Matt Kenseth - Cause he's a local boy My DS likes Carl Edwards
2. Sorry Racetrack :duck: --- Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, & Jimmy Johnson
3. Talladega & Daytona
4. ?
5. AFLAC

I personally have no opinion. Just like the driver w/ the best sponsors. :)

Good Morning All :wave2:
DD was given a list for 6th and one of the books, the mandatory one of course, The Eyes of Kid Midas is out of print so I have one ordered.Urgghhhh.
She is doing A Wrinkle in Time right now and likes it. She might even try Artemis Fowl who is kinda like a bad-boy Harry Potter.

DD was invited, so I signed her up for Cotillion last night. Only 2 girls from her grade/school were asked to join. She will start in the fall. She was pretty excited about it a little nervous about the ballroom element.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried to talk him into A Wrinkle in Time but he keeps saying "Nah". I just bought 3 books for him; The Dark Pond by Joseph Bruchas (sounds spooky:scared1: ), Chasing Yesterday by Robin Wasserman (It's about a girl who has lost her memory) and The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin (A mystery). Hopefully he likes them and if not they sounded interesting enough that I want to read them.

What exactly is a Cotillion?

Not much of a race fan now but DH and I use to be. I can give your some "use to be" answers.
1. DH: The King Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace,
Me: Kyle Petty, Whomever I think is HOT!
2. Don't remember
3. DH: Bristol at night!
4. Not sure
5.I am so drawing a blank but the ones where those 3 ladies are always after that cute looking younger driver. In the first commercial the big tire lands on his car and in the second one his car hits a telephone poll and the sparks destroy a fireworks factory.

Morning all, still can't breathe very well. I've turned to drugs. I can't taste my cough drops now. I haven't told the bride yet that I'm sick. I'm hoping to cover my red nose with concealer and use my hankie to both dry my eyes and blow my nose. Wish me luck.

I hope you feel better!

Thank you for the book suggestions. He tried Eragon but couldn't get into. I will try the others with him.

Looks like it's a quiet night in TKerville. Maybe everyone's tuckered out from the beautiful day. It was here anyway. I did not get the office done but then I never complete my cleaning projects on time. I went out to eat instead. It's a local family place. I saw 3 retired teachers there.
Racetrack---the race doesn't come on until after 5. Maybe you can at least listen to some of it on the way home. I'll check in tomorrow am if you have any last min details. I cannot believe that no one suggested things for us to talk about. I'll just walk around the statue of Milton Hershey singing the Mickey Mouse March until you find me! :rotfl2:

I finally get to check in and everyone's gone. But then it does look like everyone was busy. I got more accomplished today than I thought I would. I decided to go through all my clothes which DD turned into her own personal shopping spree. She went through all the clothes that I said shrank in the wash. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

M&N-sent you an email. Yep, we will have the race on while we drive home. I love to listen to it on the radio anyway. The announcers just are so excited about everything.

Sounds like you were a busy little beaver today. Good for you. Maybe you should get that washer fixed. ;) I am filling a bag and a box of things to donate next week. I got a card that someone's coming through the neighborhood collecting things on the curb. Most places will not take kitchen things anymore around here. I was hoping to have more things that are too big for me but I'm not too successful right now. Many reasons but the same result. A friend called and said she missed me at ww. I just have not been trying. I had a delicious piece of strawberry pie tonight. Oh well...

We tried to get the washer fixed but nobody can figure out what is wrong with it. Maybe it's the operator. I wonder if I can get DH to do the laundry? We get those notices for used clothing pick-ups too. Too bad I always forget in the couple of days till they come. We usually have to take them to the thrift shop. Of course that's good since I use the chance to grab DH a few pairs of work jeans. He works construction so they don't last long.

Strawberry pie...mmmm. I had a piece of strawberry cheesecake last week when we went out to dinner. I don't even want to think about all the goodies that I'm going to want to try on Sunday.

I just found a smilies thread on the DIS.

Lots of great things...new smilie site. I cannot stay up all night looking at it...

Well, now, I CAN'T be the "night owl" here tonite!!! LOL!

Just got back from welcoming my DSis home! It was SOOOO good to see her and her girls! I miss them so terribly.

We went out to dinner at On The Border--Mexican food. I opted for the chicken fajitas. Wasn't sure on the calories, but figured it was OK. Came home and plugged it into SparkPeople and I'm lower than I'd feared! Well within my limits! I am SO pleased! See, I CAN make good choices!

well, off to bed for me...

Speaking of goodies on Sunday...have you had kettle popcorn? They pop it in a large kettle and it has some sugar in it...not caramel corn but it's sooo good.

GREAT, now we're all posting at once!!

I WISH I'd get a card that someone is coming! I have 10 huge bags of clothes just sitting in my front hall waiting. Too heavy to carry to the drop off bins.

Y'all have a great visit! Wish I could join you! And don't worry, you'll have plenty to talk about!
