I'm a jinx to air conditioners...on way home Sunday, we stopped at Friendly's to eat. The refrigeration man was in the back and so we asked if ac was working. He said he just got it going and wasn't too bad. I came to my house today and turned on ac and it's not getting cooler---81! Went to Hoss's for dinner and quess what---no ac! It wasn't too hot though. So went to grocery store and took my time---it's really cold there. I felt like asking for a job!
My trip to the shore was wonderful though. Didn't get too hot until Sunday when we got up. My mom had a great time. I'm not sure if she'll let me go without her anymore. ;) She loved Cape May too---we took a trolley tour of the cottages. There was deli called Kabutz Down the Shore in OC. I also saw a reality company called Down the Shore. I was not as busy as when I've been before but maybe it was still early with kids in school.

Ick!!! I heard today at work that the average A/C is only good for about twenty degrees above what the outside temp is....I wonder if that is true...hopefully that is all that is wrong with yours.

I love Cape May!!! Is that not the cutest little place? It is kinda like how life should be. Did you ride the ferry? That is my favorite part of the drive to Atlantic City!

Here is an update on my Dad:

Today he had a needle biopsy of the fluid between his lungs and chest cavity. According to my Dad the procedure sounds a lot worse than it is. He felt the need to describe his "sputum" his new favorite word (he is joking of course lol). He made the decision to tell me about it because I told him I was cooking dinner...guess he is trying to help out the diet....ummmm thanks Dad :rotfl:

Anyway, we found out today that the mass is about the size of a fist. According to the Dr. the fact that it is large is positive news. He said he would be more worried if it were small because that would indicate that he had a bunch of small cells "floating around" instead of one large mass that can be removed.

If the fluid (Sorry, can't stomach the word twice lol) does not have any cancer cells in it, then they will simply remove the mass (it is called a wedge). If there is cancer in the fluid then he has gotta do Chemo. We of course are praying there is no cancer in the fluid because then it is surgery and then done; no more drama unless it comes back.

They also told him that he has to gain weight in case he ends up needing Chemo. He is significantly under weight and this is the main thing that has my Mom worried because he has been underweight for well over a year now. I don't think it is related though. My Dad is very active and he owns his own remodeling/building maintenance company and he still does most of the work himself. I think he just works it off.

So I got a big lecture from my Dad today about positive thinking and humor. My Mom was telling me about what the Dr. said, I was listening, but I guess that we did not sound positive because I heard him in the background talking about something, then I heard my mom crack up laughing, then I heard him say "give me the phone". He went on to first give me my lecture about the power of laughter and positive thinking(he really is a very funny man who LOVES to laugh). Then he wanted to talk about Disney and something about air conditioned hover-rounds that he saw on T.V (don't ask lol)

We are trying to stay positive. My Dad, unless he is faking it, is confident. I am not so confident, but I will stay positive. I keep thinking of my FIL who went through the same thing and is just fine now. I know everyone is different, but that is my thing to cling to.

A lady at work brought me a cupcake to cheer me up. I thought that was sweet because she is not even someone that I know that well, but she thought of me and I was touched.

It is just too darn hot! We finally had the boil order lifted for my town so the kids played with the sprinkler for like 5 seconds. :rotfl: My neighbors have a pool so my kids are often invited over to swim with their kids. DS7 was over there after school with his BF6. DS10 wasn't invited but normally asks if he can swim anyways. He has suddenly become shy and won't ask. He claims it's not the right thing to do! Go figure!

Oh, and I had to work today as a sub at my son's no ACed school! 300 kids hot and not able to drink the water. :scared1: (For atleast part of the day then they lifted the no boil) We also had a fire drill. I was suppose to sub for a para but when I got there I ended up subbing half the day as a different para and the other half as a teacher. I will be subbing for the same teacher all day Thursday and praise the Lord the temps/humidity is suppose to go down. Amen!

Well, I'm going to go sit and sweat in front of the TV. The only thing good about this weather is I don't feel like eating much. Maybe I can sweat away a few pounds.:p

Toodles

What the heck is a "No Boil" Did anyone tell them that you are "boiling" because it is FRIGGIN HOT??? City workers geeze, whacha gonna do?

I can't believe they sent those poor children (and teachers) to school with no A/C. What is there like two days left?

It is too hot to eat. DH just wanted a sandwich. Me and the "kids" had to have our hot meal though so I just cooked up some quesadeas in the little maker thingie I got on one of my shopping binges. MMMmmmm.

I think the ac is getting old and so is the furnace. I think if one goes, I'll see about replacing them both. Hopefully new ones are more efficient.
We didn't take our mom's to the dock for the ferry like we wanted to. They seemed tired so we didn't want to push them but we did see one from Sunset Beach.
Have to go...watching Nashville Star.

Pepper - Here's to staying very positive for DAD. ::yes:: Be confident - it will turn out just fine. If your dad is positive, that is half the battle. ::yes::

Okay... just had to pass along this video of Lake Delton (The Wisconsin Dells) WI. Tell me now if we've had enough rain. :scared1: :scared1:

(this is better footage than the one I posted earlier)

This lake is completely gone!!!!! It went over its banks, took out homes, roads etc. and has now become the WI river. The lake is completely dry. This area is a major resort, waterpark area for WI. It is like our Disney w/o the characters.

OMG!!!! Is that where you live??? Be careful!!!

I saw you said it was raining, but holy floodwaters batman!!!

Hey! How's everyone doing? Missed all the chatting since we went to the mall tonight. I behaved and didn't blow our budget even though there were quite a few things I wanted to buy. I walked out with only a pair of sandals for DD (needed them for summer) and one new pair of shorts for DH. And they were 60% off so not too bad.

D&DDisney-Woo-hoo!!! 1000 posts!!!! I am so far away from that number (hehe)

M&N-Glad you had fun on your trip to the beach. I see your driver did well this weekend. I have no comment on mine. :( But I did think he was trying to do too much this weekend.

pepper-the news on your dad sounds good. His doctor sounds like he is very pro-active and on top of things. That's a great type of doctor to have. I know it's hard but follow your dad's lead with everything. I know during some of my mom's worst moments with all this, nothing meant more than laughter to her. I would put together goofy little pictures and videos of the grandkids and send them to her. I've learned not to dwell on what might be and focus on what is. And what is, is your dad has a wonderful outlook on things, a great support group around him and doctors who are attacking this head on.

Oh yeah, SIL is nuts. :rotfl2: SIL claims not to really like stepmom but when we had the wedding shower in April, they got along just fine. SIL even helped with everything. I thnk she is just being a witch. This will most likely be the only trip my dad makes (he's not a Disney person). It would have been all his grandkids for this. Nothing I can do about it but I will make sure my dad has a great time with my kids. :rotfl2:

Whoops! I meant to say they got rid of the boil our water alert that was posted. Not they got rid of the No boil!:rotfl2: We actually have to go to school until June 20th. We were suppose to get out on June 12th but due to snow days/ice days we had to go longer. It totally stinks! The kids don't want to be there, I don't want to be there. To make matters worse we have an addition being added on to our building and the constuction crew is waiting for us to be gone so they can break through and attach the addition to the main building.

to your dad. I will pray for him. Here is a smilie to make you laugh

D&DDisney-OH MY!!! That is absolutely so scary. Please, please be careful out there. And keep us updated.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone survived the heat or rain today (whichever you had). I for one am so bleeping sick of the heat.

I hope all the prom kids had a good time. I was way too much of a tomboy to go to my prom. We just were not into the whole dance/prom stuff. Heck, I still don't like that stuff.

Does anyone ever feel like choking their kids? Just checking, because I can't be the only one. My 18 year old is always getting on my nerves and I keep finding my self asking her "when are you moving out?" She has the mis-notion of thinking that because she is 18 she can do whatever she wants. She is insane.

I am off to help my husband pick a screen name so he can join the Dis Board. Maybe if he joins he will stop complaining about me being on it all the time.

Kim

Hey Pikester! I use the hot weather diet too. :rotfl2: So sorry you are all still stuck in school. For once I am glad my kids are out of school already. All the complaining I would be hearing would be driving me nuts. Keep telling yourself...9 more days, 9 more days, 9 more days.

That is good advice. I will just concentrate on what is like you say. And what is is right now my Dad is here and he is feeling fine and wants me to think positive.

He said if I am really struggling, just plan the Disney trip some more ha ha. He knows how to get me ever time.

Your SIL is going to miss out, but I agree; have fun with your Dad and don't think about it. Sounds like her loss. It might be better this way anyway to get to spend some quality time with your Dad without having to listen to her badmouth your stepmother the whole time.

I probably mis read it, I am a total dork lol.

June 20th?????? ouch. We don't really have a lot of snow days here.

Thanks for the smilie. Your smilies always crack me up.

Oh the "I am 18 now" days lol. DS went through that, but not for long. It stopped right after I quit doing everything for him...and I mean EVERYTHING dinner, laundry, whatever and would say "but you are grown up now". Amazing how quick he started following house rules lol. Now 20? Eh, I just let him do whatever now lol. But to answer your question. Yep sure have felt that way ha ha.

Your DH screen name should be beach-cycle-dude...okay corny. :rotfl:

My daughter was trying to get my husband to go with Dopey100 or something dumb. I don't think he will go for that.

Oh Racetrackchickgirlinpa- I wanted to add

I don't think my Dads Dr. gets his sense of humor though. :rotfl2: The other day one of his nurses gave him a hug and said "we are gonna get you taken care of" (my Dad has that affect on people) well my Dad calls that the "OH SH$#" hug lol (people hugging you...especially nurses must mean that is it, game over, cya later alligator...get it)

any way I digress

So today my Dad felt the need to tell the Dr. he was worried because his nurse gave him the "OH SH$#" hug and the Dr. didn't get it. He said everyone else in the room thought it was hysterical, but the Dr. had to have it explained to him by one of the nurses. Then he thought it was funny. :rotfl2:

How about "Fort-R-Cycle" Since he likes the Fort and motorcycles?

BTW, what was with all the motorcycles on Va. Beach Blvd this weekend..must have been hundreds of em'. Was there something going on?

Bummer,

DH has to do his paperwork now. I guess I will see you all later. :cool1:
