Hello everyone, I'm back.
Just finished catching up. :surfweb:
pepperw23 and racetrack18kb  I will be thinking of your parents.
disney54us you didn't say when you had your thyroid surgery, I hope you've passed that magical number of 5 years,
Bopsmom mom to a flutist :thumbsup2 I played the flute into college.
whgrn loved the pic of your DD.
D&DDisney I hope the rains and flooding have eased up. :worried:

While all of you were melting in the heat, I was staying cool in the mid 60's along the coast of California. But now I'm home, yesterday the thermometer in the backyard said 111! :faint: It looks like the rest of the week will be around 103-105. I hope the temps will go back down to the 90s next week. I'm going to run a fireworks stand until July 4th. I have to stay near the stand. So I'll be sleeping in my tent trailer, that has no A/C!
:drinking1 This is for parents of tweens and teens.

Well, I'm not caught up, but apparently I'm in a quoting mood... gotta be quick though, the laundry is ridiculously high!!

MagiKitty-lighttech is right about the hill at the entrance and the one in the section of the park called Comet Hallow. I believe there is one more section of the park that has very steep hills to get into and out of there. There is only a small roller coaster there and it is easy to avoid that part of the park. Not too sure how accessable the rides are but I'll take a look around and ask a few questions too. Since I'll have my camera, I'll snap some pictures of all this stuff and post them for you.

Forgot about that one, its down by Trailblazer. Racetrack is right, the only things down there are Trailblazer (small rollercoaster), a picnic pagoda, and a very small themed area w/ a BBQ place and some singing and dancing.

So, tonite my 11 year old DS told me "f*** you"!! I nearly fell over! He had been at his 5th grade end-of-year social from 5-8, was happy as could be when he came home. He went in to his computer and was watching a video of a song he's been told countless times he is not to listen to--I don't approve of it. So I hear the song. So does DD, but I told her he was watching the DVD of his class. WRONG. It was on his computer! I told him to turn it off, and he went off on her. Said she was a tatletale (she didn't tell me!), cursed at her, and when I told him to stop, he said it.
..

Geez, I am SO not ready for the teen years! :scared1: Good for you for standing your ground.
And, have fun w/ the continued Scotland palnning. I'm so jealous, I really want to go back. It was our best trip ever. (Disney excluded of course! :rolleyes1 )

 Hugs for you guys! You two sound just like my parents when they discuss my sister. She is now 31 (I am going to be 35 in 13 days!). They always say they don't understand where they went wrong since they raised both of us the same way. Just remember that you two are doing your best.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hi Guys!:wave2: We had a good time but I missed the Killers. I have a lot to catch up on here it seems.
I'll get back soon.

Great pic and welcome back! Can't wait to hear more.

We are about to get a whopper of a thunderstorm! As I am typing this the thunder is rolling...and the thunder rolls.....Sorry, had a moment! I'll try to stop back in after the storm passes.

Love that song too!

Hi everyone. I have been so busy training witht he new job that I have not been on in days.

I hope everything is going good for everybody. I am not going to quote on everyones post because I am not caught up yet.
bed in a few because I am back to work tomorrow.

Have a great rest of the weekend,

Kim

Glad the new job is going ok. Every workplace has one of "those". Hang in there, and just think of the biceps you'll have once you get used to those trays! :thumbsup2

My favorite part of this song is the "3rd verse" which he only plays in concert...."She runs back down the hallway"... A little on the dark side, but cool none the less. :cool1:

Well, we had a nice sunny day here - that is until about 5pm when I was getting the grill started. You guessed it...more rain and thunder. Luckily it passed quickly and there was a beautiful rainbow afterwards. Tomorrow's forecast is more rain. Uggh!!!!:furious: My sons want to take Daddy to the minigolf range tomorrow so it has to stay dry.
It was so cute this morning. My DS6 couldn't wait til Sunday so he made Daddy and I breakfast in bed. :cutie: We awoke to mircrowave pancakes and sausage with a huge glass of milk. Sausage wasn't quite done and the pancakes were a little too done, but I LOVED IT just the same. Want to bottle this moment forever.

Oh, I agree!!! There are times when I just want DS to stay little forever! We had a day out the other day. Went hiking, saw some waterfalls, hit the store at the crayola factory, went out to dinner... A really big day for us, and all DSs fav things. At dinner we were talking about our favorite parts of the day, and DS said "Don't forget the best part of all!... Being together!" I was so happy and so proud of him. :cloud9:
Also, glad you checked in and are hanging in there!

OK -Gonna skim that last page and then get to work. Take care everyone!

I was eating with friends that I go to Hershey with. We all said we were not going Fathers day. I said I was going the next Sunday and meet someone I met on the Disney boards. It was a strange feeling...they all just kind of looked at me. I said she lives a couple of hours away and is coming with her family. I could feel the tension evaporate. Two of them started talking at once that they thought it was a guy! I just laughed. So, racetrack, they are ok with it now but they were a little concerned. :lmao: They should know me better than that but...

I went to see Brigadoon Friday night. I hadn't seen it in years...very good. The dancers did have something on under their kilts. ;) The movie's on tv this Wed but I cannot get the channel.

I'll have to comment on the weekend's chat later.

Oh...I do need to say....#88 won!!! I was sooo nervous...they thought he didn't have enough gas...I was yelling 'somebody wreck' so he wouldn't have to go more laps...and finally it happened and he was able to coast across the finish line. Sorry, racetrack but KB just is nowhere as cute as Jr.

Ok, caught up and had to say :cool1: DH is such a Jr. fan, it really made his day. Too funny, we were on our way from a Dad's day party to go get ice cream, and we had to sit in the car and listen to the radio to catch the last few laps. The rest of the family is standing outside the car waiting, DS is in the backseat alternately yelling "Go Dale Junior!!" and "Can we get ice cream yet?" and DH has everybody tuned out, totally focused on the radio. :rotfl2:
Luckily, there's several other Nascar fans in the family too, so they got it.

Also, Pepper - I totally agree w/ what everyone said. Your Dad should go where ever he needs to to feel comfortable. Its hugely important. When my Mom was going thru treatment for breast cancer, she drove about 40 minutes to an hour (or one of us did), to see someone she liked and felt was the best. Just like the positive attitude, being comfortable w/ your docs can do wonders. I've had a few run ins w/ lumps, etc., which I have to be careful of due to my family history (thankfully all benign to this point and nothing to worry about) and I drive the same distance to the same place DM went (and still goes for checkups.)

M&N - Congrats on your 88 win! :cool1: It's been a while for Jr hasn't it???

Whgrn - Sounds like your are prepared for that trip. When are you going again?

Pepper - Glad you spent a "FREE" day on Father's Day. Enjoy every minute w/ him regardless. Hope you find a good Doc.

Pikester - I know how you feel about feeling invisible on some threads. I started a few that maybe got 4-5 posts and then died. I'm a thread stater-killer!

Well, the rain has stopped for now. Forecasting a DRY week here - YEAH!!!!
We were so lucky to have gotten through this w/ very little water. :worship: It just needs to stay dry so they can reopen the interstate and let everyone clean up. So many cities are disaster areas and will be relying on Federal funds to rebuild or clean up. So sad!!! No flood insurance since none of the homes were in flood planes.

The boys started swim lessons today and of course, it was cold 68. :cold: Froze their hinneys off because it was outside.

whgrn-you must be getting really excited about all the trips coming up. And it sounds like everything is coming together wonderfully. Now you are going to do some trip reports for us, right? Especially Scotland...have to see those men. :lovestruc

Hmmm, never thought about a trip report...I guess I could do that. Am I allowed to have a trip report on Scotland HERE on the Dis? kinda off topic. Maybe I'll just put it in as part of my blog. After all, it IS titiled "Wendy's I'm Going To Scotland' Weight Loss Journey"!!! As far as the river cruise, I'll certainly post some stuff from that too. But I'll be computerless for 2 weeks each time, other than if i find an internet cafe along the way somewhere. Not bringing the laptop with me--it's too heavy with all the restrictions on baggage now.

Thanks for the drink--I needed it!!:lmao:

I dont' think you can ever be truly ready for teens! It's kind of a "learn as you go" thing. I'm flying by the seat of my pants and I do tend to veer off course. But I do stand my ground--I'm a stubborn Scot, after all!!

Give DS a big hug from me! What a sweetie he is!!

40 days!! That's for Scotland. The river cruise is first, and we leave July 3. Still hoping those rivers will go down in time! I'm glad you're not scheduled to get more rain. Watch, come August they'll be saying you're in a drought!!

Pikester, I had a blast hanging out with myself yesterday. Just enjoyed the peace and quiet, and was surprised to look up and see it was time for the kids to come home! (time flies when you're having fun!!)

Gonna be cooler here this week. Only in the 70s! Works for me! James Taylor concert Friday night is outside, and it's no fun there when it's really hot.

You got that right. ::yes:: I've been saying that in July and Aug we'll be praying for rain cause it will get so dry and hot. Just can't win I guess.

I do hope the water levels go down for you and I'm glad it is getting cooler there. Send us a little of that heat so my boys won't freeze at their swim lessons.

whgrn-I've seen other trip reports on the CB that have nothing to do with Disney but adding it to your blog would be so much easier, I think. At least with the link in you siggie, we could all find it so much easier. We are going to get that cool weather too. I can't wait since the kiddos will be able to be outside all day. :woohoo: :woohoo:

D&DDisney-you guys really get some weather extremes out there. I thought it was bad here. Hope dry weather keeps coming your way.

lighttech-your DH sounds just like mine. I don't know how many times we have had to sit in the van until the race ends. And nobody can talk while the race is on unless it is race related comment. :rotfl2: DH has always been a Jr fan but he is starting to move away from that. He mentioned liking Brian Vickers after this weekend. We'll see? :lmao:

Today I went shopping at Talbots for my wardrobe for Scotland. 3 hours and WAY too much $$$. Some things I got were a size 16W!!! I'm just amazed...

Where the heck have I gone wrong with this kid? I'm raising him the same as DD. Admittedly, she can have a mouth, and an attitude, but overall she is a sweet kid. He's the opposite, but once in a while you see the nice kid underneath.

I found out today from the endocrinologist that all his tests came back normal, and his bone age is not delayed, it's 11, which is how old he is. So he will always be small. Problably gonna max out at about 5'4". I've not told him, and don't plan to. But I'm thinking it's a good thing he'll never be bigger than me!

 Shopping trip was successful! Great job.
I know this sounds strange but the elem guidance counselor at my school told us about emotional problems some boys have because they are smaller than other boys their age. They bully to help make up for it. Is your DS actually shorter than those in his class?

We enjoyed ourselves but I don't think I want to "drag" 8 people thru the parks ever again.::yes:: But the looks on the kids' faces and the fun they had makes up for the stress of getting everyone going in the same direction.

We did have some :pixiedust: moments at Epcot, I'll tell ya'll later.
I'm not good at trip reports-never done one before.

I'm sure it is stressful for you to feel like you are having fun when you are concerned about the group. It sounds like the fun the kids had made up for the other problems. And you know how we like pics and reports.

Hi everyone. I have been so busy training with the new job that I have not been on in days.
The job is going ok. There is alot to learn with the computer system and what goes with what food. I am slowly getting used to it. The one thing I hate is carrying those big trays of food. I am so afraid I am going to drop it. I guess I will just have to get used to it. Everyone there is friendly except for one girl.
Kim

Was wondering if you got to work Father's Day. Hope the tips were good. Now you know who not to go to for help. Maybe she won't be on all the times you are. Don't let 1 know-it-all ruin it for you. Keep balanced. ;)

So mommie got waited on too. Good for you.

Not sure why, but I got this sudden burst of energy and cleaned my house from top to bottom. The smoke was so bad here yesterday from the NC fires that I didn't want to go outside anyway, so what the heck. Of course the place was a mess again by 5:00 :rotfl:

My Dad is talking about transferring to his Dr. even though it is a 50 mile drive.

My Dad is a very upbeat person and that has gotten him through up till' now so I am going to take his word for it on this too. He is convinced that as long as we don't let the negative in everything will work out. He actually believes it too.

You forgot to come clean my house! ;)
As others said, he needs to go to a dr he can feel positive about. Several of my relatives will not go to Obicci Hospital or any dr in Suffolk. Too many bad experiences. But then again I have cousins working there. It's your body and you have to know what's best for it. Around here, people travel 90 minutes for dr.

I don't think I've killed any threads but I certainly have been invisible on them! I know that every time that I post it doesn't mean that somebody has to acknowledge me. It just bothers me that I'll have the same dates for a Disney trip as someone else but somebody posts 3 posts after me and they get acknowledge with a "Hey! Where going to be there too!" What about me! Remember it's all about ME! ME! ME! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I see you Pikester. I know exactly what you mean. It's like I want to say-Hey, I said the same thing 3 posts back. They'll never learn.

We had horrible storms here Saturday afternoon also! The weather didn't disrupt the train schedule, but once down at Penn Station, we could not get a taxi! So back down, down, down to the subway and made it to the bar safely. All in all, quite a loud raucous time!

Where is Shmu? And Magsnden? I hope everyone is ok....good day to all of you and let's hope we get some nicer weather today!

Sorry about the weather. Glad you had a save, fun time.
I cannot find the missing smilie...but do you think we should worry about them yet? I don't remember how long it's been for Magsnden. I think Shmu said she would be busy.

The storms today are missing us I think.

 Shopping trip was successful! Great job.
I know this sounds strange but the elem guidance counselor at my school told us about emotional problems some boys have because they are smaller than other boys their age. They bully to help make up for it. Is your DS actually shorter than those in his class?

I think that with the exception of maybe one girl, DS is the smallest kid in the entire 5th grade. He's 11 years 4 months, and is 51" tall and weighs 57#--in other words, he's the size of the average 2nd grader. I think it very likely contributes to the problem--he feels bad about himself so he bullies others he sees as weaker, to make him feel bigger.

You all know we have major problems with DS too. He is also on the very small side. He is only about 2 inches taller than his sister but a 3 year year age difference. DH's whole family is short, very short. MIL isn't even 5' tall and his sister is only a few inches taller. On DS's mom's side, they are all relatively short too. I've never really thought of this and it's something we need to explore. Thank you!!

ok, since I am up all by myself (M&N where are you), I thought I would post a smilie just seei if it would make it past the censors. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sorry if I offended anyone. I'm in a very silly mood tonight.

Hey everyone! In my "the kids are sleeping, so I'm going to surf the disboards time", I found out someone has a thread wishing Pikester a Happy Birthday. Thought I would link it here so we all could chime in.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=25716504#post25716504

Thank you so much for the Birthday Wishes! Your birthday is probably on there too. Someone must be getting our birthday dates from when we join the Dis.

Right back at ya!

I see you Pikester. I know exactly what you mean. It's like I want to say-Hey, I said the same thing 3 posts back. They'll never learn.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Love that song too!

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

When I was just out of high school, I got into Garth Brooks big time! Along with Lori Morgan, Travis Tritt, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood and many others. The thing was I was also into AC/DC, Guns and Roses, AeroSmith, Bon Jovi and many others (my future husbands doing). Talk about a mixed bag!

Hello to everyone else if I forgot you. YOU ARE NOT INVISIBLE!

Shmu Magsnden

Good Morning TKers!

I need to share some nerves with you all.

My DS10 is going to be doing a kids triathlon (swim, bike, run) on June 21st. I will not be able to be there to watch. I get so freaked out! I can only imagine how freaked out I will be when he gets into more stuff when he gets older.

My husband just informed me that he will be doing a 200 mile :scared1: bike ride to help raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center located at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. This event is 2 days with 100 miles being ridden each day. The name of this ride is The Prouty Ultimate; named after 4 nurses who rode through the White Mountains of NH in support of one of their patients, Audrey Prouty, in her fight against cancer. Here is a link if anyone is interested in reading about it http://theproutyultimate.kintera.or...&kntae267894=F585626190F94D209D30991F0737E90D# (That is the link for my hubbie's ride. There is also information for a walk on there somewhere) I am so proud of him! Here is a link to his page https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=267894&supId=224190294 Hopefully he'll put more information on it so I can show him off!

I am so nervous about him riding that distance. I know he can do it! I just worry about him.

Morning all! I caught got up in yesterday's surprise thunderstorm, so I"m nursing a sore throat today. Not feeling too hot. I better be over this by Saturday!

Pikester...wow! 200 miles and a triathelon! That's some healthy family you have out there! How wonderful though, and to be doing it for charity against cancer is so admirable. I hope everyone has good weather for it. Remember to stay super hydrated! I'll be cheering them both on from a few states away!

The mooning smiles made me laugh really really loud.

I'm still trying to catch up so I think I will just jump in here.
If I miss something/someone please excuse me.:goodvibes it's not a slight in any way.

Welcome back missing TK'rs!:wave2:

DL :wave2:back at ya'
I may have to ask you for advice regarding the flute. If you played it in college you must have started early and liked it enough to continue-I hope this is how it goes with DD.

racetrack18kb
love the smilies loved the birthday one so much I repeated it.

whgrn I'm getting excited about the trip and I'm not even going!:lmao:
good news about the shopping; one question though? Knee highs with a dress:scared1:wear thigh highs and give some cute scot a thrill:thumbsup2

M&N Thank you-how do you post trip reports? Ive never done one before.

lighttech hope you are doing well

kimluvswdw hope the new job is going well-::yes::

pepper
sounds like a relaxing day.

D&DDisney great about the boys swimming. Very important!!skill and we feel better knowing kids can do it! I worry so much when DD has friends at the pool and some don't know how to swim-even at 11 yrs old. DH and I have taught so many kids to swim in our backyard we are considering charging fees.:rotfl: We actually had parents offer to pay us.-but we had to send DD for lessons since we didn't have a pool then and I was too nervous to teach her myself. go figure:confused3.

:wave2:MagikittyI was just wondering where you were. Hope you are better by the weekend if not sooner. Did you see DD's towel kitty? I thought of you too when it was in the room.

Ya'll have a magical day!

s-event.png

and we still can't get "it's a small world" song out of our heads

Hi Bopsmom! So looking forward to hearing more about your trip! And yes, I did see your towel kitty. I'm hoping that I'll have one waiting for me on my trip! I've read about people trying to take theirs home. I don't think I'll be able to do that, but I'll take lots of pictures!

Just go up to the trip report forum and start a new thread. And then let us know so we can all read it!

Your son sounds sooooo much like mine.
Nick is 10 and weighs about 56lb and is around 53" tall. I think its the meds that keeps the growth down a little. Plus, takes away their appetite. Nick looks like a second grader and is going into 4th. We're hoping that this year is better than last. (I CAN BE OPTOMISTIC CAN'T I?)

sport038.gif
We're off to swim lessons...temps are only around 63 today - YIKES! Send warm thoughts

I did work on Fathers Day. It was so slow and only about $50 in tips. Not a good night. I guess everyone did Fathers Day lunches instead of dinners. The restaurant I work at has a breakfast then closes and reopens for dinner until 9:30 or so. I only work the evening shift.
