Thanks you guys for posting in my Birthday thread!

I need some help. It's nothing big, just some opinions. I asked for an ipod for my birthday. DH told me that he would be willing to buy me one to open at my cake and ice cream party or I could go shopping and buy it myself. I have narrowed my ipod choice down to the 8GB Nano. I was going to do the shuffle but that one doesn't allow you to put songs in the order that you want and the original ipod is bigger then I want. What do you think about the nano and what kind of accessories would you recommend?

Well, we just got 2 out of the 3 kids report cards today. Both DD's had excellent report cards. DD12 made honor roll all year!! :cool1: And DD6 had high marks in everything they were graded on (no letter grades, it's only kindergarten). I guess I'll give them a little extra money for the Hershey Park trip this weekend.

We are still waiting on DS's report card but we already know that is a disaster. They already sent us a paper telling us that he failed 3 classes and needs to attend summer school for him to pass. We are not sending him to summer school and are making him repeat the year. We were in contact with his teachers all year and DS thought it was all a joke. He is quite capable of doing the work assigned to him but he chose not to. He just figured we would bail him out again. Maybe learning the lesson the hard way is the way to go with him now.

YOU GO racetrack18kb! I think you have made a difficult yet correct choice for DS. (Just my opinion)

Wish I could help with the ipod but I don't know too much about them. We got DD12 one for Christmas and I think it's the original Nano. It's also a refurbished one off of the Apple website. She is not too careful all the time so that was the best bet for her. She has had no problems with hers and it's really easy to use and set up. I did look at the shuffles but I didn't like those. I just thought they were too small and could get lost much easier. DD didn't like the shuffles because, like you said, she had no control over her music. :rotfl2: I'm sure someone else will be along with much more info than I have.

Now for the really important question. What kind of cake and what kind of ice cream?

Marble cake with buttercream frosting (I really like the stuff in the can and it's so much easier to make:thumbsup2 ) and vanilla ice cream. I always make my own cake (that way I get what I want :rotfl: ) and invite my parents, grandparents and in-laws over to our house. The best part is the visiting!

Pikester:bday: Can't help you with the ipod. I never get the most popular items, always get off brands for less. If you plan to walk/exercise with it I would recommend an armband holder. My mp3 player hangs around my neck. When I walk it bounces from side to side on my chest. (sort of like this banana when it is animated )
Bopsmom If your DD can stick with the flute, High School will be fun (marching band). Plus band members tend to stay out of trouble (too busy practicing)
kimluvswdwSorry that Father's Day wasn't as busy as you hoped.

Yeah for your family Racetrack! Sounds like the littler ones had a great year. You should be so proud! I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties with DS. You seems to have worked with him during the year and frankly, his report card is once again a product of his choices. I'm sad for the turn of events, but he is getting older and he needs to learn that he is responsible for his own future. It is a difficult decision you are making regarding repeating the grade, but perhaps it is what he needs to understand the value of his education. My thoughts are with you.

Pikester, alas, I cannot help with the iPod issue either. I got myself a Zune last birthday. It is a bit large, I got the 30gig, approximately the size of a cigarette box. I liked it b/c it was cheaper. I have tons of movies and tv shows as well as music. As far as accessories, I don't like the little earbud headphones, so I invested in some really good, although large and dorky, noise reducing headphones. I also have a speaker system that I just dock my mp3 player into (Altec coz it was a great sale and can be used for iPods too--highly recommended; the sound quality is amazing). I would also suggest a nice padded carrier if you plan to lug it around some. My purse is notorious for destroying whatever may lay inside. I got a cute cover and my Zune (I call him Brownie) has no issues or scratches.

I don't know if this is what you wanted, but you did ask about accessories. I also got my glitter stickers out and made Brownie pretty.

 Thanks DL55...my ears are itchy so I'm definitely getting sick. I'm all snuffly. I'm on the tea and cough drop diet. It may be drastic, but I have 48 hours to get well!

Addendum...BF got a PIN code in the mail today at MY HOUSE! (we don't live together). If you may recall, this is the second PIN to arrive, but neither one in my name! What's going on? Its for $59/night/value during the free dining promo. Does that mean that the values aren't filled for free dining? Where's my PIN? I'm the one who's doing all this Disney planning....perhaps they know they have me hooked and aren't even trying to entice me with lovely discounts. Grr! And to make it worse, my Disney Visa bill came today too!

Good Morning TKers!

I need to share some nerves with you all.

My DS10 is going to be doing a kids triathlon (swim, bike, run) on June 21st. I will not be able to be there to watch. I get so freaked out! I can only imagine how freaked out I will be when he gets into more stuff when he gets older.

My husband just informed me that he will be doing a 200 mile :scared1: bike ride to help raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center located at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. This event is 2 days with 100 miles being ridden each day. The name of this ride is The Prouty Ultimate; named after 4 nurses who rode through the White Mountains of NH in support of one of their patients, Audrey Prouty, in her fight against cancer. Here is a link if anyone is interested in reading about it http://theproutyultimate.kintera.or...&kntae267894=F585626190F94D209D30991F0737E90D# (That is the link for my hubbie's ride. There is also information for a walk on there somewhere) I am so proud of him! Here is a link to his page https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=267894&supId=224190294 Hopefully he'll put more information on it so I can show him off!

I am so nervous about him riding that distance. I know he can do it! I just worry about him.

WOW!!! Impressive family you've got there!

whgrn I'm getting excited about the trip and I'm not even going!:lmao:
good news about the shopping; one question though? Knee highs with a dress:scared1:wear thigh highs and give some cute scot a thrill:thumbsup2

Turns out I won't be able to do the knee highs. The pair I already had, that fit so well, is too casual, and doesn't come in a stocking-type color. So they will be for under my slacks and maybe my kilt (I could get away with navy there). But I'll have to wear pantyhose under the dress. Yuck! At least it won't be hot there! Anyone ever try Spanx? I'm thinking about getting some for wearing under the kilt and/or the dress.

DON'T get the shuffle!! My kids got them and hated them since there is no control over the music! Now they have refurbished Minis, which are much better. I have the Mini too, but I think they don't make them anymore. If you are looking for small, then go with the Nano. Definitely get a case to protect it. And I find I don't like the earbuds, so you may want different earphones. Also, get a charging brick so you can plug it into an outlet, not just your computer.

OOOH, you're my hero!! Stand your ground girlfriend! Take no prisoners! I agree, sometimes you just have to learn things the hard way. My DS is the same way.

 Thanks DL55...my ears are itchy so I'm definitely getting sick. I'm all snuffly. I'm on the tea and cough drop diet. It may be drastic, but I have 48 hours to get well!

Poor Kitty  Feel better!!!

I went to TWO pool classes today--the first one was too mellow, so I stayed for the second one, which was a little better. I need to find one that really kicks it! I was up 1.6 pounds today, but I've gained muscle, and all my other numbers improved, so i'm not worried.

The kids finish school tomorrow. I will be SO glad to be done! I think I work as hard as they do. Looking forward to seeing the report cards...sort of! I know DD has a D in math--no surprise there, and I don't expect anything different as long as she's forced to do grade level math, which is 2 years beyond what she's capable of! Next year will be better--she'll have math on HER level, not grade level. Other than that the grades are a mystery. DS usually gets all As and Bs, but I'm curious to see if he improved on his C in Spanish...

That's it. I assuming you're BF's only GF ;) so just use his PIN code and say he lives there. :goodvibes

I haven't used Spanx, but I think I heard good things about it. I hate pantyhose also.

I agree with you on these two suggestions. :thumbsup2

This is my theory with my DD. :worried:

Yes, I am BF's only GF, but he has to share me with my husband David Cook. I can't use the code anyway, its either a discounted room OR free dining. But still, to tease me such....

Whgrn...I have tried to use Spanx, and I just don't get it! I really think they're for people who don't have a belly. When I wore it, it totally rolled down on itself, and it tightened so I was being squeezed from inside my dress! Not to mention the weird roll that it produced (in addition to the rolls I already had going). I may try to go a size larger, but I thought the point was that it was supposed to suck my stuff in, not squeeze me out of it!

Also, I needed some help getting INTO the spanx. I just couldn't bring the back up to where it needed to be. The pair I had didn't have a "trap door" so I needed help after I used the bathroom! I do know that some of them do have the trap door, so I would check them first before you buy!

I got my industrial strength undergarment from Hanes.com. It was on clearance. Its a serious coverage panty with extra clasps in the front, kind of like the fasteners on the back of a bra. There's six of them down the middle. I can get myself dressed, go to the bathroom, and have a smooth belly! I would check it out...I may buy one in black for future occassions.

I heard from disney54us last week. I don't think she's on vacation but just very busy with the end of school. I haven't heard anything about magsnden or Shmu but it has been a while for both of them.

Sorry about the double post. I guess I hit it more than once.

OMG this is too funny.
I finally have a chance to get on here and I am Missing in Action.
I feel so loved.

Thanks for thinking about me.
I have been in a business venture with my son.
Renovating a home.
It's only a 2004 but it needed a lot of TLC.
I have been spending so much time there.
When I get home, I'm so tired all I can do is shower and collapse in bed.

The work is coming to an end.:cool1:
Then I'll have more time to DIS again.
I MISS YOU GUYS.

BTW, I was able to get reservations for DS surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon today.:thumbsup2
Now it's official.

Didn't go back and read yet. I'll try to catch up a little to have a little clue of what has been happening.

DON'T FORGET FLAT TK'RS

My trip is going to be here before I know it the way time keeps flying.

Shmu's back!!!! :cool1:  Sounds exciting, you'll have to tell us all about it! Pictures??

Just took the kids shoe shopping. Payless and Burlington Coat Factory. So now they each have a new pair of sneakers, and DD has a pair of sneaker type nicer shoes (like for church, out to dinner, etc.) Along with their Van's they should be set. Well, except for flip flops...

Hi Shmu!!! Glad you checked in. Missed ya around here.

whgrn, shoe shopping, lucky you. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If it was up to my DD12, we would be shoe shopping every week. She has more shoes than I do.

Shmu: We did miss you.

Sorry - I know nothing about those electronic toys out there. My cell phone doesn't even have a camera. But I do like cake!

Get those sniffles under control MagiKitty.

Sorry I wasn't on last night racetrack. The storms blew by me. I wish I knew how to make kids understand you want the very best for them. I told some kids in school that if I didn't care about them, I would let them misbehave but I do care. They didn't get it...maybe someday they will.

Thanks. We just keep waiting for the moment when the little lightbulb goes off over his head  He spent alot of years just getting passed along with no real discipline from the school. Now it's an uphill battle with him. But I have to believe it will happen one day. Funny, thing though, when he was in 7th grade, he had a teacher who took none of his crap and he excelled that year grade wise. He knows how to play on people's sympathies and he uses that to his full advantage.

We were lucky last night and seemed to be in between all the storms that hit. Were they bad by you?

I know some time ago there was talk about satellite dishes. We are looking to get rid of our cable provider and are looking into getting satellite. Those who have it, what company do you have? And I saw they offer internet connections too. Does anyone have their internet through the satellite hook-up?

Racetrack...I don't know if you were thinking along these lines, but I have DirecTv, switched over from Time Warner last year. I had called to try to get my bill lowered, and was basically told there was nothing I could do.

I ended up bundling my internet, cable, local and long distance. With my satellite I pay much less and get much more. I've been very happy with both the reception and the customer service.

I have internet through Verizon, but not through my satellite. I have a wireless platform that it hooked up through my phone line. It works great.

I've saved so much money just paying one provider for all my services and am really happy I did it.
