None of it sounded cranky to me.
We took DD out when she was in 1st grade and the teacher was really nice about it. She brought DD's work to the house since we left the week before Thanksgiving so she could do it during the Thanksgiving holiday.
It's just been recently that they have upheld a strict policy. There were too many kids/parents going to Disney off-season to miss the busy "holiday" seasons-like we did.
DD does very well in school also, so we were not worried about her missing anything, but now that she is going into 6th we too won't be able to take her out for trips for the same reason you said. Too disruptive when juggling a new school, and 7 classes.
I totally agree, we are the parents and should be able to know what our kids can and can't do-withing reason. There are a few out there(out here actually) that are more concerned with being "fun parents" than what is best for the kids-thus they abused the system(not doing the makeup work) and the principal had to come down hard on the absence policy. These are the ones that spoiled it for the rest of us.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
We are going car shopping today-need better gas mileage!Don't we all

We're having burgers, corn on the cob (from Whole Foods, NOT Jersey corn yet) and salad, and Mom found some fresh strawberries at the farm stand near them. I'm splurging the extra 126 calories to have the burger instead of a chicken burger. It will put me over by that much, but it evens out over the week so I decided it is OK. I think I'd really have felt deprived if I couldn't have a burger on Memorial Day! Is that dumb? Oh well...
days.
This may get me in trouble, but especially in view of today's holiday and about remembering those who give so much, I was saddened just now because the mods decided to lock a thread about giving. I understand that it is not Disney's policy, but it has been emphatically stated elsewhere that the Dis is not affiliated with the Disney franchise.
I'll still hang around here too but it is kinda nice there too. I did email the webmasters 2x about what happened and still have not heard any reply from them. Makes me doubt alot of things they have said. I don't know....I'll just wait and see.
Glad things look better. Hope DS settled down too.

! What the heck! I think I gained a little over the winter
. I need to get back to walking everyday (Walked for 40 minutes today). I've got from now until Dec to be ready for all the walking I'll be doing at Disney.

Only 2 and nothing spectacular. We are going to do Sci Fi Dine-In Theater for the kids. Figured they would love the idea of eating in a car watching a movie. We are also going to do Olivia's for T-day dinner. Wanted something out of the way and away from the crowds for dinner. I keep debating about CRT. I would love to take the girls there but it is so expensive. And with the cost of everyday things going up daily, it just might be better to skip it this year.
