YA'LL TYPE LOUDER!
MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING FROM THE CONCERT AND 20,000 SCREAMING GIRLS!
HI BOPSMOM. HOW ARE YOU DOING? WAS THE CONCERT FUN?
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
You have helped to make a wonderful memory for your DD.:thumbsup2

I made DH a "Fabulous peanut butter and chocolate pie". It was pretty dang good but verrrrry rich.

My friend and I are taking our 4 yr olds to the AU gynastics meet tonight. Not quite as exciting as Bopsmom's concert, but hopefully fun anyway. The meet is against UGA, so I'll think of you Shmu!
MMMM Pie sounds yummy.
We went to a UGA gymnastics meet when DD took gymnastics. We had a blast.
"Go Dawgs. Woof, Woof, Woof."
Have fun.:thumbsup2

I thought I was the only one that chuckled at the VD abbreviation. :lmao:
Nope. You are not alone.:lmao:

just wanted to share this cute moment from yesterday. DH was coming home a little late last night. i had my dad and brother over and we were all eating when DH walks in. he brought me flowers which was very sweet, BUT the sweetest part was he brought maggie her own very first flowers! it was so cute! she was amazed and so happy. i just kept saying, "i can't believe you have your very own flowers." and of course my dad and brother were saying the same. so she wanted to have them up in her room with her. she just felt so special, and i was so happy for her!

i know it's probably a little corny! but i'm glad it was her dad who gave her flowers for the first time.
Not corny at all.
My DH had a shirt I bought him that says
"DADS
Sons first hero
Daughters first love"

I know we live in an imperfect world and that is not always the case but it sure is nice to hear when Dads get it right.:thumbsup2

!

Not corny at all. I'm smiling just from reading it. How sweet!

My DS is the phlegmy kind too. His nose always seems to be running from something. And, he's in a small daycare w/ just 2 other kids. I can't figure out where he gets it all from. But, I totally empathize!

Probably my last entry of the night. Goodnight all!

GOODNIGHT BOPSMOM!!!

i'm just popping in for a minute. DH and i are going out to dinner!!!!!! yay!!!! :cool1:

my dad and brother came back over tonight to babysit. dennis is in bed already and mags is going to sleep now. so soon we'll be on our way!

have a great night everyone!

Hey killers, okay so much †o catch up on and yes I will multi quote:confused3, it might take a couple of days to catch up on the couple I missed but I will start little by little:laughing:.

I know it's late but I have an update on the family vacation and SIL....you all know how SIL is and stepmom and her just don't get along. Maybe, it's hormones, but I really want to experience Disney with my brother and their son. I was talking to him tonight and he really wants to go with us. And I know my dad would love to see all the grandkids at disney. As horrible as SIL can be, I still hold out hope that once she gets there, she will see the light, so to speak.

Anybody have any experience with planing a huge family vacation? What can I do to show that the good of the family is better than the good of one person?

PS. I pretty sure that stepmom would go along with it as long as we don't spend every moment with them, which we weren't planning anyway.

Dreamin, you have such a good heart:love:, Been there, when you think why am I doing this or even trying?, but you want your brother and his child to enjoy the experience and your Dad. You will make it work and here's to you:angel: for doing so. Sorry no experience on such a big family gathering, but I would think the same. you can't all be together 24-7 in the best of situations. Just b/c sometimes no matter it is to close for comfort, everyone needs some down time, plus you will have kids with different interest and you are there for all to enjoy! So dividing up works and meeting up works. Sounds like a plan!!!

:wizard: :surfweb: :wizard: Did it work?

I don't do pics either. I'm spending too much time on the computer now. That's my excuse for not trying to figure out how to do it.

I guess I'll go watch the ice melt off the trees. (Need to clean too) Hoping it'll melt the snow/slush so I don't have to go out in the rain and shovel. :confused3 That darn groundhog!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: , in my dreams:cloud9: !!!

Morning friends.

I feel so conflicted. I've posted on the TK thread on the Budget Board, but I feel like I'm neglecting/cheating on us here. I want to be supportive of fellow TKers but it would be a heck of a lot easier if they just came over here and we could commisserate together.

Strangely, the temperature is supposed to shoot up and now there's danger of flooding. I live up on a hill, so flooding isn't much of an issue for me. But driving 20 minutes either way and they just get devastated with rivers overflowing.

I can't believe how simple the crust recipe is! I believe the things are called dough cutters--I'll have to consult Food Network. But they all have stand mixers, something I've secretly been coveting (along with the Wii). Frankly I don't have the funds or the counter space for a stand mixer--not that I wouldn't find space IF a mixer should seek a home under my roof.

disney54us...now I feel bad about the computer stuff. Did we establish why you couldn't do those things? Are you the Mac user? Let's try again, shall we?

Yes I am the Mac user, I do need to say I Love My Apple:love: , I really don't think I would know how to do anything even if I was on microsoft, I am able to admit my faults, as in I am clueless on computers!!!
Okay, about mixers I am a foodie not a dessert person so for me, love my cuisinart, aside that it's pretty never wanted a mix master. Here's a hint though they make a hand held mixer (mom bought me for x-mas) comes in cool colors to. I'm not saying that it is as strong as a mix master but it has alot more power then a regular hand held and attachements, so maybe that would help. Oh yeah retail $79.99.

Finally able to get on here. Electric was out all morning. At first, I thought the computer totally blew up this time. Things like that always seem to happen to us when we have a little extra money saved up.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking along those same lines too. Right now our reservations are booked as grand gathering so hopefully our rooms will be close by. If they would decide to go, I could book their reservation seperately. They would still be at the same hotel but just in a different section. As many problems as I have with SIL, it would all be for my dad and brother. Well, me too but I get sentimental like that. I guess I just need to think about it some more.

Shmu-I just looked at the weather for up this way and they say it should be warming up. So whatever is on the ground now, we are hoping will be gone by the weekend. We haven't gotten any bad snowstorms here yet just a little snow and some ice. But it has so far gotten warm enough the next day to melt most if not all the stuff on the ground. Hope that helps.

Computers, just love them:rolleyes1! Oh yeah, shmu, MD would be fine south enough not to be effected!!!

Hey---You know you've got us Killers behind you. :woohoo: Go for it.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Ditto!!!!

AUdisfan...you should totally write a TR, especially with little ones. There are so many little moments that you should get down so when you look back you can relive all the memories. Of course, we'd read it along with you! Btw, my BF's absolute favorite thing at WDW is Carousel of Progress--its so nostalgic and a nice respite from the crazy crowds and heat while at the park.

dreamin...power outage! wow, you must have gotten a lot of ice where you are. I totally understand trying to find the right family dynamic. Too bad SOME people can't see the larger picture about what a wonderful experience this will be for others-especially the kids. But there's still time and if need be, WDW is a large place. You can always run and hide.

magsnden...thanks for the link! I totally am drooling over the mango kitchenaid. Ah, I am fantasizing about the baked goods I could make. Sadly, I don't think marriage is in my path, let alone gift registries. See, my BF has CP and had disability benefits. If we were to marry, he would lose those benefits and be under my insurance. But the benefits he gets from the state are far more comprehensive and I could never ask him to give up those for me. I read a TR by another couple (he has CP) and they're in the same situation. Its sad, but I have a wonderful life and although I would love to be recognized by the Church and the state, its just something I have to dream about for me in another life.

I'll just have to start a kitchenaid piggy bank.

Sorry to make this sad. Let's go back to apple pie. Mmm...

Back again...whgrn, we must have posted at the same time! I'm the one with the purple scarf with my hair pulled back and black pullover.

Oh, you guys should read the TK thread on the budget board---its like deja vu! They're banding together, making friends, complaining about the Tag Fairy. Its so much fun to watch! But I've backed off and come back to my own TKer family. I hope they find the friendships we have.

Go, for a commitment ceremony. I realize you are Catholic, but you know, that what is decided in the church just seems sometimes is not what you hear in the homily, it is there intereputation. Not to be critical, I'm catholic (must admit due to many decisions made recently, a on the fence one). Many times I have sat in church and hear what a priest states what makes one good or bad and in the same mass here something that states how forgiving and open Jesus is. Sorry, should not go down the religious path, just don't want you to feel bad and not think what the two of you share would not be as worthy, as anyone else if you are not married in the church.

DH and I couldn't get married in the Church(he's Catholic and I'm Methodist)
so we eloped and got married by a Baptist minister:lmao:
I agree with a commitment ceremony:thumbsup2 with a legal consult so you are allowed to make joint decisions(medical and others for each other) and share property. It's a sad state of affairs when insurance companies decide people's fate.

Mmmmmmpie!
I'm on the Disney Diet right now so no pie in my future.:sad2: :sad1:
I'm gaining weight just reading the posts.
Gotta got help burn a CD for DD Valentine's Day Party.(need a smilie twirling a finger)Yipee.

Disney Diet:confused3 :confused3, do tell!!!

I thought we were lost. Got to yesterdays posts...where are the Killers? Moved again? Then looked at the clock...gotta get to bed but not sleepy. Can I have a drink of water???? :surfweb: It must have been the chocolate drizzled popcorn I ate that is not on my diet...:hyper: I'll pay for it at the scales too but boy was it good. A friend brought it from NYC.

:flower3:  :flower3: Love is in the air...

Lost were we lost?????

barely time to check in, have to get to school for the "party."
my poor maggie has had a runny nose for days, and the way she wipes it has made her nose all red. i really didn't want to let her go today, but she was so sad, crying and saying "but i have to go today mommy. today is the party and i can't miss it."
uggh so sad. i'm probably a terrible mom for sending her, but would i have been a terrible mom for not letting her go? please make me feel better. i should add that she starts school at 9 and the party's at 10, then home at around 11 today.

i'm trying to make myself feel better. can you tell?

Half a dozen one the other, it's that time of the year, she probably got it b/c someone went to school sick, so don't sweat it!!! How could she miss that party:love:. Remember you cared enough to worry about it!!!

Happy Valentine's Day Ya'll:love:

I did have a really cute mickey Valentine made by Amy but since she had to remove her art (thank you Disney lawyers:headache: ) I decided to send ya'll this.

:cool1: Very cool pic!!! Okay, can someone explain about Amy and her ar† and the powers in charge????:confused3

ok, gotta go make lunch but just checking in.

i was HUGE into burp cloths when these guys were babies. just so useful with all the spitup, runny noses, spilled bottles, drool. so i have a ton still and i give them to her and i use them on dennis too. but somehow it's still red.
i have used those vick's plug ins. i should get some more.

ok, be back later!

Vick's the best!!! love the vapo rub, they even have it for little ones in a cream tube, not as strong. Sometime's when †hey are younger the good old fashion one is to strong. Hot steam vaporizer w/ the liquid menthol in the med. cup works so well or just like chicken soup is soothing and makes them feel better:goodvibes.

Do you trust Photobucket? I was looking on their site but was leery of putting any pics out there and registering. :scared:

So just in case I every do get that computer advance, please advise what you heard or have concerns about., Isn't photo bucket private??

I use photobucket and shutterfly. I only have limited space on my laptop, so I backup my photos to disc and I load them on these sites. So just in case something happens to my computer, I still have access to my pictures.

Actually, in this month's Real Simple magazine, they recommend both of these sites, so I pretty much trust their safety. But then again, I was part of a Photopass share, so there ARE people out there with my pictures!

Ok, I gave into the commercialism of the holiday and I don't care! I had some chocolate covered cashews and I ordered the Jane Austen BBC collection--something I've been coveting! Happy Valentine's Day to me! BF is just happy that I won't be complaining about it anymore--but now he either has to watch the miniseries with me or lose me for days while I watch it!

MMM, chocolate covered cashews:thumbsup2, Have to check Real Simple and what the say (you know, in case the big day comes:rotfl2:). They are good b/c they will give you the +++ and the ----, so you can compare.

here's a couple of the little munchkins that keep me up at night from time to time! :rotfl:

By magsnden

By magsnden

well those may look ok, but here's a funny one that describes the photo shoot a little more accurately!

:goodvibes Wow, great pic's  you have a beautiful family including you. With her sweet face I couldn't take her crying that she had to go to her party, running nose, what running nose???? Don't worry your going.

By magsnden

that's me! i need to look for a *good* picture of myself. i'm usually holding the camera, so it's difficult.

oh you are kidding me!! harder??? now that i look closer, he's laughing in that picture, but there was a lot of crying.. and then we had to call it, when maggie started the crying, and we were yelling! nice time to take a christmas picture!

i can't find any of my after i cut my hair so here's one with the long hair at chef mickey's.

By magsnden

too close for my liking! but there's dennis staring at goofy. he loved all the characters. it was funny. i guess you really can't see my hair so pretend it's short!

Stop, you look great, isn't it a shame we get to a point that we hate pic's of ourselves. Oh I quoted in between your quote above:confused3.

Okay still not caught up but trying I will get there sooner or later.

Disney Diet:confused3 :confused3, do tell!!!

It is just a Dopey idea that I wanted to get in really good shape for June Vacation. So for the past couple of weeks I have been riding 6-8miles a day, walking on the treadmill and cutting out bad stuff. That was until DH brought home my favorite pizza tonight:eek: Add quitting smoking on the list and basically now I'm Grumpy:laughing:
Voila, Disney Diet.:)

:cool1: Very cool pic!!! Okay, can someone explain about Amy and her ar† and the powers in charge????:confused3

Amy was a designer on DISboards that did custom Disney designs for your trips-t-shirt designs, journal covers, invitations-you name it. She had a great website and did her work for free or a donation if you wanted too. She was a sweet person and not the only designer on the boards. This week she received a cease and disist order and had to take down her website and remove her art from the boards. It was sad because she was very talented and truly loved the work. :sad2:

:thanks: to all the good wishes for the speedy return of my hearing :thumbsup2

The concert was fun and loud.
I know-if it's too loud, you're too old.
It was the Jonas Brothers. Lastest Disney Boy Band.
DD and her friends were commenting on their "style" skinny pants, white tennis shoes, buttondown shirts and skinny leather ties (can you say early New Wave?)
Their sound is kinda New Wave too.
Us old moms had to laugh when they covered a Ramones' song.
There was so much jumping and dancing we thought the floors would collapse from the vibrations.:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

MagsndenGreat story-:goodvibes
I hope you realize that you have given birth to the other woman:rotfl2:
That is what I always say about DD.

Night TKr's :wave2:
Really bad storms heading our way tonight and tomorrow. They are calling for rain, hail, flooding and tornados. I will be rolling the storm shutters on the windows down before the worst comes through.
I will try to get on in the morning, but where we live a slight breeze knocks out our internet.

Morning everyone! Haven't been on for a few days because the whole family caught some kind of stomach virus. It was truly horrible. In between taking care of everyone else who had the worst of it on the same night and then getting it myself the next day, I have never been so exhausted. I feel like I could sleep for a week.

Be back in a little....need to go catch up on everything.

now, back to business. audisfan - please share that pb and chocolate pie with us! oh, and can't wait for your TR!! woohoo!

Sure, it came from a junior league cookbook from LaGrange, Ga. I love those junior league cookbooks from southern towns. They always have the best stuff in them.

FABULOUS CHOCOLATE-PEANUT BUTTER PIE

Crust:
1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine, melted

Mix ingredients. Using back of spoon or fork, press crumb mixture firmly on bottom and upsides of an 8 or 8 in. pie plate. Bake 5 to 6 min. at 375 deg.. Chill at least 30 min. before adding filling. I just bought a graham cracker crust.

Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups well-chilled heavy cream

Topping:
1/2 cup heavy cream
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese with the peanut butter until the mixture is smooth. Beat in the sugar until it is combined well. In a chilled bowl, beat the cream until it holds soft peaks;fold one fourth of it into the peanut butter mixture to lighten the mixture, and fold in the remaining cream gently but thoroughly. Mound the filling in the crust and chill the pie, covered, for at least four hours or overnight. For the topping, in a small heavy saucepan, bring the cream to a boil and remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the chocolate, stirring until the mixture is smooth, and let the topping cool for 15 to 20 min. Pour topping evenely over pie. chill at least 30 minutes before seving.

Like I said, very good, but verrrry rich.

Have a great day killers!

So sorry. Sounds like the same thing going around here. (Maybe its a PA thing) DS and I had it last weekend. It is so tough being the parent in charge of taking care, and being sick too. Leaves you very little time to take care of yourself. Hope everyone is feeling well.

Congrats on the diet, excercise and smoking cessation!!! Good for you trying to get healthy. If Disney is the motivation, then so be it!

Thinking of you during the storms. Please check back in when you can and let us all know you made it through.

Take care TK'ers. Just a quick hello today. I'm just finishing up lunch at work, then when I get home, I have to try and get the house in order. Parents, MIL, FIL, SIL and BIL are all coming over tomorrow for Daytona 500/ Valentine's Day/ It was just time for a get together.

Magsnden - I kept meaning to say I also love your picture!! Its funny, b/c of your DSs pic in the heading, I think I always thought of you as blonde. But, its a great pic of a great looking lady! (I always hate all of my photos!)

Being on here is kind of like reading a book and then seeing the movie for me. Like lots of others said, everyone looks great, but just different than what I pictured! That's what always happens when I read first. Whoever casts the movie definitely has a different character vision than I did when I read the book. And we certainly are our own little cast of characters! :rolleyes1

Sorry to be a hog and post 3 times in a row, but I just realized...

I'M A DIS VETERAN!!! :cheer2:

I hit 500 posts and didn't even realize it!!!

OMG! This probably means I should know something by now...

lighttech party: for becoming a Dis Veteran!

dreamin in pa hope you are feeling better now.

Bopsmom :thumbsup2 Disney Diet.

Finally, it snowed today but didn't stick. Today was the first day this winter that the hills had snow on them. :yay:

Afternoon everyone! How y'all doing? I'm very, very tempted to try both the apple pie and the peanut butter chocolate pie. So good! I have to find a reason to entertain so I can make them. Otherwise, it would be me and the dog eating all that good stuff!

Congrats lighttech on becoming a Dis veteran! And to DL55 for finally getting snow (:rotfl: we've had the white stuff since November...)

You know, it never occurred to me what everyone looks like. I have to think about it.

Ok, so all the Valetine's stuff is on sale and I gave in (where is that will power? I thought I saw it around here somewhere...) and bought some lollipops AND a min-stepper. I tried it at a friends house, and I really liked it. I can get on it and step around while I watch tv. At least that's the plan.

Jane Austen didn't show up today. :guilty: So while I was out, I rented Becoming Jane. That'll go well while I mini-step with a lollipop.

Hope everyone is feeling better, recovering from Valentine's day (congrats to those who had wonderful surprises!) and here's to a safe and wonderful weekend.

Well, I took the plundge and posted some pics on Photobucket. Nothing specific scared me about it. Just always leery of putting too much info out in cyberspace. :rotfl2:

I couldn't make the pic any smaller so forgive the size. Size does matter ya know. :rotfl: Here is my family and I at Chef Mic this past Halloween.

Happy Daytona 500 Everyone!:car:

Congrats on the Photobucket! But I have a question...how much smaller did you want it? Besides, we want to see the beautiful faces of you and your family! But success!! :cool1:

Yea!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Well, I'm probably off for the night. I just managed to break my face at work in my last 1/2 hour for the week... go figure. (Nothing serious, but a loose piece of equipment mananged to catch me right across the cheek. Small cut, and a little swelling.) So, I'm sitting at my desk for a few minutes w/ an ice pack. Don't even think it will bruise, but better safe than sorry. (Anyway, it gives me an excuse to check in here! )

Happy Daytona to you too D&DDisney. :drive: Love the little race car.

Evening TKers!!!! Took forever to read up on everything.

Loving everyones pictures...nice to put faces to the names. And photobucket does make it very easy.

The apple pie and peanut butter chocolate pie sound yummy but I don't bake...maybe I can get stepmom to bake some ;)

Can't wait for Daytona tomorrow. It has been the looonggeesstt three months. :rotfl: Big party day here too. Who are you all picking to win? I'll go with Tony Stewart.

Got a small update on the school situation. They finally sent a letter home and basically told us that it is all rumors but we have a choice to send our kids to school that day. If we decide to keep them home, it will not count against their absence limit. I wasn't going to send them to school anyway but at least the school in finally acknowledging (sp) that there may be a problem that day.

Well, DB just called and told me he wants to go on vacation with us. He sounded really happy and excited about it. In fact he never actually calls me on the phone, we just chat on-line. Everybody is in agreement that we don't want to spend every minute together. I am going to make their reservations seperately so their rooms aren't too close to ours. Better safe than sorry, you know.

I got one more picture to add, if you don't mind :goodvibes This is DD4 with my soon-to-be stepbrother (the one who is into the goth stuff)....he's her favorite person in the world.

Take care everyone.
