Another snowy morning here in WI. We're off of school again today. It may feel nice now, but come June we'll be making up all these off days. :( In all we got 14 inches of snow here and up to 20 inches in Madison, WI. Didn't think that snow would ever stop. And the drifts....they were huge! DH had a real hard time cleaning the driveway. Oh how I wish I was at WDW. I hear it is in the 80s and sunny!

MagiKitty - I think your lenten idea is great. I'll join you in that effort.
However, can I still be sarcastic and positve???

dreamin - I agree w/ you. The school should have told parents something. Very scary!

magsnden - I know those sleepless nights only too well. Hope Dennis is feeling better. (I also figured out your user name now. ;) )

And yes...forgive my politcal signature. I usually don't care much about politics. I have no party affiliations at all. Consider myself independent and vote for those whom I think are best qualified - dem or rep. However, this next election scares me! And although I am not backing any particular candidate, the thought of Hil & Bil in office again worries me. :scared:

Feeling lazy today, I agree with everything that D&DDisney has said. Except for the snow..none here.

MagiKittyOh, I didn't mean to make things harder for you. I'm still thinking positive even with all that is going on here. Keep thinking positive thoughts. When we stop, thats when the real trouble begins.

D&DDisney-All that snow. How do you stand it? Sending you a little sunshine to help melt it all away :sunny: :beach: You are right about the school telling us something. Even if it turns out to be a hoax, we have a right to know.

AUdisfan-Welcome back!!!! Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

I so agree with you. I am reading one of the threads you have posted on (I love reading those political threads ha ha) Seems like we pretty much just agree on everything ha ha. :goodvibes

Morning killers!

wow, it took me so long to catch up, that now of course I don't have time to post. Diapers to change and children to feed. I really miss WDW.:sad1: Of course I had to do that stuff there too  , but it was much more pleasant doing it there. Anyway, as you can see we're back. We had a great time(after we finally got there, I'll tell ya'll that story later) and I can't wait for our next trip.

Ok, really have to go.

I hope everyone who had been sick, had surgery, problems with animals and children, etc. is doing better.:goodvibes

Later killers!

Welcome back!!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon. The flu season has been horrible lately. Kinda scary.

Dreamin- How scary for your school system! Did you see the other post about the teacher that was arrested for making threats at her school because she didn't get promoted to 5th grade? I think that was in PA too, do they think maybe it is the same lady?

I so agree with you. I am reading one of the threads you have posted on (I love reading those political threads ha ha) Seems like we pretty much just agree on everything ha ha. :goodvibes:

Glad I didn't offend you. I just get sucked into those debates and then I get in trouble. However, I have been trying to keep the sarcasm down to a minimum.

I am SOOOOO jealous!!! I've been working my tail off and only lost 3.5 pounds since 1/2!!! (It had been 6, but for some weird reason I was up 2.5 last week.) I'm hoping for a drop tomorrow, but time will tell...

Meanwhile, this is my last hurrah on the Dis. I'm having rotator cuff surgery tomorrow so my typing ability will be greatly reduced (it's my right arm, and I'm a righty!!) So I will have to hunt and peck and keep it brief. But I'll be here lurking, and I'll try to pop in a response here and there.

Don't be jealous. You probably have a lot less to lose than I do. Mine will slow down a lot as I go on.

I saw your later post after I quoted you. I am so glad your surgery went well. woo hoo. :flower3:

We'll try to help entertain you whgrn while you are recovering. Prayers headed your way.

enter tapdance dude here ha ha. (since i am in edit cause I STINK at posting in quotes)

Hi everyone. I want to thank you all for the kind words. It really meant alot to me. :grouphug: To make a long story a little shorter, all that stuff about DS trying to turn things around was just a scam on DH and I. We were tryng very hard with DS and trying to trust him more....life was going pretty good or so we thought. As of right now, we owe more money to the school for lunches that he borrowed (we have had to pay back over 150.00 in lunches he has borrowed since he moved in with us) after throwing away his packed lunch from home. I was so impressed with what I thought was his good behavior, I was going to put money into his lunch account so he could buy lunch once in a while. Once I logged into his account on-line, I found all the charges that start about 1 1/2 weeks after we thought things were getting better. I felt we were finally turning the corner but ended up just feeling stabbed in the back.

On top of all this, we got a call from his mom this weekend and found out that in the last month, DS had downloaded about 300.00 in "adult" movies on her cable bill. :scared1: She calls us complaining that she doesn't have the money to pay for that and hinted that we should help her pay for it. (She doesn't pay support and we have never asked for any.) Before the "supposed" turn around happened, we told her plenty of times what he had been doing. She chose not to believe us and always blamed someone else for what he did. (friends made him do it) She never took it seriously until it affected her. By the way, he was in trouble long before we were granted custudy and that is the main reason we have custody now. We have been and still are fighting a losing battle. We haven't given up on him but he hasn't hit bottom yet. When he does, we'll be there to help him pick up the pieces.

Please don't thing bad of me for that last bit. I believe some people just cannot accept help until they have hit bottom, whatever that may be. We have been in family counseling and he "played" the counselor too. I've been with his dad for 13yrs and he is my child too. All I want is for our children to grow up to be responsible adults and right now, I can't see the light at the end of tunnel for him. :sad1:

Thank you for letting me ramble on here. I know I said I would keep this short but it just poured out tonight. You guys are the best. :flower3:

My SIL went through simular with my Nephew. Total pain in the you now what...but it all worked out in the end. I know it is tough to get through so you vent all you want to. :grouphug:

 UUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHH.
Had to get that out and I knew ya'll would still love me.
I just tried adding the eliptical trainer to my schedule to have a better workout.
I have exercise induced asthma and it makes me soooooooo mad.
I have dealt with this since childhood. I wrote about it in my PTR if you want more info.
The short of it is, I LOVE sports and my body doesn't.
During the workout I of course started having breathing problems and had to stop because I went into an asthma attack.
Don't panic. I know what to do to get my body under control. I have dealt with this since I was 8 years old. I would scare my mom so much coming in from playing with blue lips.
So, I'm sitting here at the computer letting my body cool down.
I'm starting to breath fine now.
I just get so upset because there is so much I want to do that my body won't let me do.
Thanks for letting me vent.

I am glad you are feeling better now.

:yay:

I know the feeling of not losing much weight. Hope surgery goes well.

I feel for you, my DD won't learn from her mistakes. She's now living in a dump of a trailer with no car. :confused3

Glad you are feeling better (read later post) :flower3:

I was going to say how badly my birthday was going today but it doesn't sound as bad as some of you. I'm just missing my kitten. He disappeared last night and I haven't seen him since. :worried:

Happy birthday!!! (late as usual ha ha) I hope you find your kitten.

 Happy Birthday DL55! Wow what a great day to have a birthday, so much going on AND its Mardi Gras! Hope you're surrounded by happiness and love on your special day.

I broke the voting machine. Ok, not me specifically, but when I went in to vote, the machine was not working. We have those old fashioned machines where you push the slots down in order to vote. Thing is, my machine would only let you vote for one person, none of the other options worked. It was a conspiracy! They had to call someone from the board of elections to look at the machine. I waited to see what would happen. Makes me think that all the people before me either voted for the same person, or didn't bother to question why the other options were stuck. Eventually they got it to work. Every vote can make a difference.

I'm kinda peeved at Disney right now. My mother received one of those amazing 40% off postcards in the mail. Its non transferable and I could have totally used it for an anticipated trip in the fall. I called customer service and asked if I had a code in my name but no go. I was told to keep calling. I called for the vacation DVD before Christmas, I got the Disney Visa. I was even stopped at MGM and answered their survey; I still get surveys via email and answer them. But do I get the blessed golden postcard? NO! I was told the only way I'd be able to use the discount was if my mother was travelling with me; something that won't happen. My parents don't enjoy Disney as I do.

I can only hope that for some reason later on I'll be deemed worthy and receive a discount of my own. Until then, I'm holding a teeny tiny grudge.

Whew, got my own vent going on. Feel a little better now. Going to medicate with Cherry Garcia yougurt. I feel so rejected right now. :guilty:

Ha ha. Voting machine breaker! :rotfl:

With the Disney thing, can your mom book using that code and you give her the money? Or does she have to be actually attending? I am not sure how it works so forgive me.

Glad I didn't offend you. I just get sucked into those debates and then I get in trouble. However, I have been trying to keep the sarcasm down to a minimum.

Nope not me ha ha.

I got offended FOR you on one, but you seemed to be handling yourself so I stayed out of it ha ha. ;)

Dreamin- How scary for your school system! Did you see the other post about the teacher that was arrested for making threats at her school because she didn't get promoted to 5th grade? I think that was in PA too, do they think maybe it is the same lady?

I saw that too and couldn't believe it. I feel so sorry for all those kids. I think I read that she was framing some of her students. Ours is something totally different. Some "revolutionary group" is making threats against the whole school district. Just waiting for the older kids to get home from school to see if there is anything new being said.

That is scary. They should really close school until they figure it out. But I tend to panic a bit so....

So this is to all:

Reading all of my other posts have you guys noticed that I use "Ha-ha" like every other sentence? How dorky am I??? ha ha

Hey guys! Full house I see...so nice to hear from everyone!

Audisfan...:welcome: back! So good to hear that you had a good trip and travelled safely. Tell us all about it!

Isn't it funny how we're all tip-toeing around the election thing? Just don't want to offend anyone or get into fights. But that the beauty of it. We can talk about it and do something about it.

Positive thinking...positive thinking...who knew it would be so difficult? As for the promo card, I threw it out. It was just taunting me from the table and I didn't want to subject myself to something I cannot change. When I called about the promo, the CM pointedly told me that if my mother made the reservation, she had to be present at checkin and they would check her ID. Darn! I'd heard about the promos before but just to have one sitting in front of me, not being able to be used just drove me nuts.

"Revolutionary group"? I assume we're not talking about Paul Revere et al here. What could they have against an entire school district? This is getting creepier by the minute. School should be out soon, I hope there's good news coming.

MagiKitty-nope, not Paul Revere. And they are not just against the schools but just about everything...cops, government, the war, etc. Waiting on news.

Hello to all... just have a quick minute.

DL55 - Happy belated and I hope your kitty comes back!
Dreamin' - So scary about the school threats. Positive thoughts coming your way.

And, for everyone else... too much to say. Here's to quick recoveries, better health, happiness, and promo codes for all.

Take care! and I'll touch base when I can.

OH, for all you Giants Fans, QVC is airing an "NFL shop" at 9pm tonight w/ a special guest you might be interested in!

:scared:

I agree 100% D&D.

That is just too scary! Our schools always send home info the same day, or at least the next. What a bunch of hoohas they much be there!! Keeping y'all in prayer!

BTW, I am now using BOTH hands to type!! Yup! Got the ok. from PT today. It's a bit awkward with the sling, but it works. Still slow, but beter than hunt and peck!

both hands :thumbsup2 You are recovering quickly.

whgrn - :cheer2: Glad to hear you are recovering quickly. You go girl!!!!

Prayers to all those in schools in PA. What's going on over there? So very scary!!!

magsnden - Did you take a nap this afternoon?

:surfweb: Just sitting here agreeing with all of what's said so won't multiquote. It's too confuzzing--agreeing with someone who's agreeing with someone else. :confused3 I've got to go lurk in the political thread. I'm too shy to chime in on that. :rolleyes1 But lurking would be ok.
I think a good idea to help with positive thinking is to watch Pollyanna. It's one of my favorite oldie but goodie movies.
:tiptoe: I'm off to find Killers who are being positively sarcastic (or was that sarcastically positive?---that's what I get for not multiquoting! Ha Ha) on the political board.

Just saying :wave2:

Actually, I do have a new topic to bring up. Those of you w/ kids and who work. Any good advice on daycare experiences? Its kind of a long story to get into, but DS has always been in an "in-home" daycare (nice lady who watches DS and 2 other children in her home.) And, I'm starting to wonder about that vs. public daycares, like Kindercare, Goddard school, etc that are more structured. I've always been very happy w/ having him in someone's home if he couldn't be in mine, but so many people I talk to are so happy w/ the activities and classroom environment of their daycares. Just curious.

whgrn...:worship: congrats on your super fast recovery! So glad to hear from you again! Keep up the great work in rehab and pretty soon you'll be 100%!

lighttech...so sorry I can't offer any help on the childcare issue. Both my sister and I started school early, but stayed with "Grandma" in the afternoons. Watching my sister (she's 6 years younger), I feel that pre-K was better for her socially and prepared her for the transition to a more structured kindergarten. But then again, she liked going to school because her big sister did.

I'm going away for the weekend! Hanging on here later than usual tonight, heading down to the City and the Spice Girls this weekend. My friend is the big Spice Girl fan, he's even had a shirt made with "Spice Boy" on it. My sister and I are going for the entertainment (him, not them). I need to pack and get the kitties ready for the weekend. I haven't been out clubbing in ages! I don't know what to wear! How do I look cute and not freeze my booty off?

whgrn-here's a little extra pixiedust: for the speedy recovery

lighttech-wish I could give you some advice about the daycare situation. My 4 have never been in daycare even when I did work. The 2 older girls have done wonderfully in school without attending a daycare with structured activities. Is DS happy where he is at right now? That would be very important to me.

MagiKitty-have fun this weekend!!! Clubbing?:confused3 What's that? Oh, that's something I did BK (before kids)...lol I vaguely (sp) remember those days.

Quick updates of sorts. Got in touch with someone I know who works for fire and rescue in our city. They siad not to worry about it and the police have it all under control. I'm sorry, if there is nothing to worry about, what do the police have to have under control? It just seems so contradicting to me. And still no word from the schools at all.

And we have totally realized part of the problem with DS is his mom. She calls us tonight to ask about her visitation for the weekend. When she was sone working that out with DH, she asked what DS was doing. DH tells her that he is in his room because he is grounded. She proceeds to ask 'WHY?" It was only this past weekend that all this stuff went down with the movies. I whole-heartedly believe that we need to have a united front with him. I do not believe that he should get away with disrespecting one set of parents because he is going to the other's house. But obviously she doesn't.
