Still packing....

We take so much stuff, maybe we just need to rent a U-Haul.:lmao:

Actually, DISing instead of packing. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.:rolleyes1

I know, I really do need a tivo. I never get to see Earl and the Office anymore since they come on when we're doing bath, story, bed time.:sad1:

I hope all of ya'll up in the frozen north, and mid-west, and west stay warm.

Later killers!

HA HA!! I finally caught up!!! Now, lunch is over, and I have no time to comment. I'll try and hit a few multi quotes real quick, but I don't even remember what I quoted! :confused3

lots to comment on but FIRST...........

ipatrick dempsey is a hottie too. thanks bopsmom!

the sheet set we got maggie has a pillowcase with belle on one side and cinderella on the other. i think i'll need to make one with matthew and patrick (or george, can't decide) on the other for myself. mmm mmm mmm.

lighttech - that is so cute - he wants bob the builder to talk to him! so what did you do, call him and talk like bob? too cute! the things we moms will do.

Patrick Dempsey was the hottie of my tween movies, so I'm a bit partial even though he's not really my type. I think Tim McGraw could be pillow material though.

DS has a Bob toy, and right now he likes ALL his toys to talk to him. (His teddy bear, Bob, Mr. Potato Head... you name it.) Luckily, he's not very critical of voices... they all kinda sound the same when I do them.

Thanks. We try to keep a very relaxed, humorous atmosphere in our home. I use to be tight wound when I was younger and first married. I have loosened up A LOT over the years.
One thing we have always tried to do with both our kids is to have "dates" with them. We have been doing this since they were little. Trying to strive for that one on one time. With DD it started out having "tea parties" and now we have advanced to Starbucks. We'll go grab a Starbucks coffee, head to a parking lot and drink our coffee and just talk. (That way no one can accidently overhear anything.) We had a Mother / Daughter get together over the holidays and she shared with everyone that those times are special to her. Little things do count.

I think thats wonderful. Its made me think, and I'll definitely try to do it more... we try to spend some special time at home doing art projects and cooking (too of DS's fav's.) But, now that he's getting a little older, some special time out would probably be a great way to really make him feel important.

Hi again everyone!

Oh, lighttech, anytime you come before pizza in a man of any age its a HUGE deal! Your little guy sounds so cute! How do they know how to be so adorable and pull at your heartstrings?

Forgive me while I post a few pics of my little one

She is ADORABLE!!!

During my trip last November, I had to pay for an extra luggage on my way back just due to all the shopping I did on vacation!

When did you go? That was when we had our trip too. Funny, we could've bumped into each other.

Still packing....

Totally with you!!! Any show that starts at 8 is out of bounds now! Sometimes we can make it for an 8:30. But, we've definitely thought about tivo or dvr.

Gotta go tk'ers. Take it easy for a while... that catch up was a workout! :yay:

hey guys!

just wanted to mention, that was the EXACT reason we got tivo.
we never got to see the shows we loved because of bedtime, bath, story, etc. also we watch some shows that are on at the same time.

we actually have dvr. we used to have it with directv, now with fios. i think the machine cost $99, which we paid over a year if i remember correctly. i think the cost per month now is 5 bucks. fios' dvr wasn't that great in the beginning, but now it's 100% better.

so that's what i mean that it's cheap! a lot of times we watch the shows on nights when nothing's on, or when we get back from vacation. all our shows are still there. and we NEVER watch a commercial!

shmu - i'm with you, i never watched lost. though, there does seem to be a cult following with that one. i think we missed the first few and then we were too behind to start.

magikitty - i am the WORST overpacker there is!! you should have seen my suitcase last week. i packed way way way too much for a 3 night trip! i was afraid it would be over the 50lb limit! i made it by 10lbs.

funny about the dimples. i love jeff probst's too!

audisfan - hope you're done packing and can dis for a while tonight! so excited for you, you're leaving tomorrow!!!! hope your son makes out ok for the trip. is you daughter going crazy or what?! she must be so excited! we surprised DD this last time. she wrote a letter to mickey about a month after we got home in march. so we had mickey send her one the day before we left (i found this great disney font on the computer). she was so excited. but we didn't tell her that her cousins were going. so she saw them at the airport and was freaking out! it was so cute! the cousins were so excited too.

i can't remember if i had told you all that before. sorry if i did!

I'm here too! Trying to figure out where my pictures are. Shutterfly sent me an email that they sent out my order Monday priority mail and its still not here. It should be though. I'll give it one more day and then I'll truly freak out.

Lighttech, I was in the Orlando area from November 10-17th, but only at the world on November 15th and 16th. I was the girl with thirty pounds of hair (yeah right, that's why the scale says THAT number) pushing a cute guy around in a wheelchair.

Nope mags, we're still alive and kickin'!!!!:thumbsup2

phew! i was scared there for a minute! thanks whgrn!

:lmao: :lmao: 30 lbs of hair!

i'm sure your pictures will be there tomorrow! i know you must be nervous, though.

Yes Lost fans ...Tonight is the night...It's back!!!!!:woohoo:
Let's compare notes tomorrow. I'm kinda slow when I watch that show. I need help following it. :faint:

Temps above zero today, however it is snowing, AGAIN!!!!! How many days until spring?

audisfan- Have a great time on your trip! You are so lucky. The temps are in the 70-80s there. We stayed at ASMo in Oct. Wasn't crazy about the rooms (too small and kinda run down). However the atmosphere outside the room is fun. The kids loved it.

Magikitty - "Your kid" is adorable. Hope your clock keeps on ticking for years. :thumbsup2 I know the feeling of the ticking clock. Tried for 10 years to have children. Adopted our oldest son. Then, after much medical help, I got pregnant w/ youngest son. I learned very quickly that this is one area that's out of my hands.

Bopsmom - I can't stand Howie Mandel. I heard stories from a friend of mine who used to work w/ him in Vegas (she's was a stagehand) Said he was the WORST person to set up for. Major germaphobe!!!!! I just laugh when people touch him on the show. Stage crew must have to disinfect him during the commercials.
The Jonas Brothers.....my son would love to see them in person. Have a great time at the concert!

Lighttech - Better than pizza is the best compliment from a child. You rock!!!!

Okay, I am off to get supper going and get the kids in bed early. Then popcorn:: and I am ready for the one of the only shows I still watch on tv. Since we do not have cable or satellite, this is my list...
  • Lost
  • Extreme Home Makeover
  • This Old House (PBS)
  • American Idol
I must sound like such an exciting person. :bored:

Too funny, we were there the 11th through the 15th. So, we were in WDW on the same day once! Ahhh... if only I'd known then what I know now. It was great weather, and a great trip! Hope you enjoyed it too. :cutie:

D&D...we totally should compare Lost notes tomorrow! I usually rehash the episode with my boyfriend, but he's not nearly as receptive to conspiracy theories as I am. It frequently ends in a disagreement of "you're looking into it too much" and "how could you not see that?". Its kinda funny. Lost and Heroes are the only shows we share in common.

I like your TV list too! Except I'd have to add the Amazing Race and Antiques Road Show.

Lighttech...aw, we could have totally passed each other and not even known it! Small world (hee hee, I made a funny), isn't it?

Noone had QVC on their TV list. I stop there as I channel surf to see if there's a green spotlight somewhere. It's kind of like a Where's Lighttech game with me. :rotfl: Hallmark's got some good movies.

I saw the Big O's show where she talked about Pillars of the Earth and interviewed the author. It's on my list to read but not because of her. I forget what Killer suggested it. As a retired elementary librarian, one of my goals was to read books longer than 32 pages. I guess a lot of you Mommies out there feel the same.

I got my required milk for the ice storm we may (or may not) get tomorrow morning.

I'm not getting any notifications now. I think it's an AOL thing. Nothing has come to my spam folder...cannot complain about that though.

I was the girl with thirty pounds of hair (yeah right, that's why the scale says THAT number) pushing a cute guy around in a wheelchair.

:lmao: Ya know, I've been growing my hair...maybe THAT's where the extra 20 pounds have come from!!!:rotfl:

I got my required milk for the ice storm we may (or may not) get tomorrow morning.

Yes, but in addition to your 12 gallons of milk, did you also get your 10 loaves of bread and 9 dozen eggs??:rotfl2: That seems to be the thing around here when snow is threatened. It seems they run out of bread, milk, and eggs, after you see people with their carts piled high with them. Unless you're feeding an army, you could be snowbound the entire winter and not run out of anything!!:confused3

that always makes me laugh about the snow. everyone gets milk eggs and bread as if you won't be able to get to the store for a week! a few years back (must be about 5 before i was pregnant - do we all time things that way?!) we got about 17 inches of snow. it was great! we had to stay home. but that very day we walked up to 7-11 (like a wa wa's, convenience store). and there were no cars only plows, so we walked in the street and we were able to get a few things. i guess people just freak out, right?!

i guess i better start watching qvc too. i'll be looking for ya, lighttech!

I don't see any little green lights... everyone must be watching Lost. I never watched, so I never got into it. I've heard good things though...

Geez. First time I'm actually on at night in ages, and everybody's taking a tv break. :happytv: At least I won't fall behind. (To be fair, I'm watching too... but I'm on Celebrity Apprentice. I've kind of gotten bored w/ the Apprentice thing, but I'm somewhat attached. I actually got to work on one when they came to QVC. I was the "on-air" lighting designer for the men's team... unfortunately, none of my air time made it past editing, except for a very fast time lapse of a genie lift moving in the studio [I'm driving it] that made it into the extra online scenes.)

Lighttech...aw, we could have totally passed each other and not even known it! Small world (hee hee, I made a funny), isn't it?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Certainly is!

.

Tee hee. :lmao: Still haven't figured out how to work that in w/o getting fired! I'll keep looking into it though... And, I'll be sure to let y'all know when we have our Disney Jewelry shows.

 I used to work at a grocery store when I was a kid. We dreaded snow storms (or even snow forcasts) b/c we'd get SO busy. And, yup, the shelves would empty of milk, bread, eggs and jugs of water. It always cracked me up. I mean, even in the worst of storms around here you'd be stuck at home for maybe 3 days... and that's one of the few blizzards we've ever had. I couldn't figure out what would happen if your fridge happened to be empty of those. Me, I'd probably stock up on hot chocolate and marshmallows (and maybe movie snacks) and hope the rest would take care of itself! popcorn::

i guess i better start watching qvc too. i'll be looking for ya, lighttech!

If you ever actually see ME, I've done something terribly wrong. I should only ever be on the OTHER side of the camera. (Although, I have gotten roped into a taste test or two. But, I always regret it later when I realize I had my baseball cap and some old t-shirt on. (Lighting is a very dirty job some days.) But, those stuffed pretzels are SOOOOO good. Yum. :upsidedow

I should have gone to bed ages ago! DH is away for a day, and I'll be getting DS ready myself in the morning. (I do it often, but a sleepy Mommy is no way to start this process.) But, it was fun having some "me" time with the DIS. Its been quite a while. Ahhh. I remember when I got to sleep AND have free time.. . it seems so long ago... :rotfl2: (DH and I often joke about how we used to think we were SO busy... gosh we were clueless.)

Well goodnight to you all. And have a blast to those of you leaving for the World soon.

Catch y'all on the flipside.

Oooh. Just had a random thought. Does anyone remember a cartoon from maybe early to mid 80's that had something to do with that? I just vaguely remember a record player and someone saying something about the flipside.

That's going to drive me crazy!!! You know, if I could get rid of these random bits of information floating in my head (like cartoons and commercial jingles) maybe I wouldn't be so ditzy! ;)

'Night

Hey Guys

I had never gotten to see all of the Lost programs but I really liked the Past, presents, future episode. :happytv: Thanks to that I am all caught up and it only took an hour!:thumbsup2

Milk, eggs and bread, geezlouise, I guess if your power goes out you can just leave it out on the porch to keep cold, or you can make a heck of a lot of bread pudding if you have too much left over. mmmmmmyummy

We have hurricanes to contend with and losing power for days is not uncommon. I tell you what, milk and eggs are the first things we get rid of when the warnings are posted. It gets hotter than the hinges of hell down here in the summer with no ac.

I have a great recipe for "emergency use" that is made with totally non-perishable items!:thumbsup2 It is a commerical Mac n' Cheese recipe a cafeteria chain (Luby's) uses-it is DD favorite food(has been since she could eat solid food) I got the recipe from them. It uses powered milk, velveta/american cheese, boiling water and pasta. It is really, really good too.Actually, the cheese/milk base of the recipe lends itself to great casseroles.
I'll post it if anyone wants it.

DH got home late, late last night. Just in time to get out of the :cold: in Philly.
He's gone again tonight. :confused3 This morning he left a stack of bills to be mailed out and his paycheck on the kitchen island. I told him I felt like his pimp with him out working and just dropping off the money that way. He said no, we (dd and I)are just his sugar babies.
Night TK'rs
Stay :cool2: and Stay Warm!

hey ya'll!

Power has been out here tonight, so I'm just now able to get on the DIS.

I've got to get to bed, but I just wanted to say goodbye and I'll talk to ya'll next week. gosh that seems like such a long time.

I'll be thinking of all you killers when I'm at WDW!:grouphug:

DH says I'm not allowed to pack anything else, so I guess I'm done.:rotfl:

Bopsmom - yes please post recipe

lighttech - I remember that Apprentice episode. Please let us know when Disney Jewelry is on. I'm sure I'll be watching on Feb 8 & 9 when Bare Escentuals is on.:thumbsup2

Okay, really gotta go. We're getting up way too early. Bye, have fun!

i guess audisfan is on her way to the world. lucky duck!

just poppin in for a minute to catch up. off to pay the bills.

Your DH sounds like a keeper! Please post the recipe.

I guess I haven't been retired long enough (this is my first year)---I hear weather forcast calling for ice starting 3amish. Of course, the brain automatically kicks in with the debate-2hr delay or no school? Next thought: the weatherman's called for snow we didn't get this year so maybe nothing. Next thought: It doesn't matter to me. I don't have to go anywhere! Then my caring side comes out and says but it sure sounds like the teachers could use a few extra hours break after talking to several on Thurs. So upon going to bed, I cannot sleep, thinking about ice! The next thing I know, it's 10 of 5. I turn on tv thinking Channel 8 should be putting the delays up! Rats---nothing for Lancaster Co. I calm down...remembering it doesn't matter to me...I don't have to go anywhere. Go to bathroom...look out...it looks wet but icey? Turn off tv for maybe 5 min. I have to know so turn it back on...YES! Donegal! and sure enough...2 hr delay Etown!!! I was so excited I could not go back to sleep!
I guess I'll never be retired long enough to not enjoy the thrill of a 2 hr delay...or better yet...a snow day!
Maybe some of you mom's don't like them but I sure did!

Good Morning Killer's, finally caught up!!! Can't believe how much one can miss if they don't stay connected :surfweb:. Okay, far far to much to multi quote on so I'll just join in, I'll throw a few comments on several post.
I guess I missed wishing Audisfan a great trip, so I'm sending a belated good wishes. Magikitty, 'your kid' is beautiful and so sweet looking:angel:. Love my DVR, have had it for about 3 years, I have DirectTV got a great deal on it. At the time it was 99.95 w/50.00 rebate:banana:, and installation Free:dance3: it was so worth it! Lighttech, once again out of the loop, so that's what your screen name is for :confused3, what a cool job!! By the way, I can't find my QVC??? do you know what channel it's on w/directtv? I know I have HSN and about 20 real gem shopping channnels, but I haven't come across QVC lately.
Super bowl Sunday everyone ready??? I'm with you Magikitty it's my excuse to cook have some friends over. I wish I had my dip recipe from Olivia's:sad2:, made that one Superbowl party was a big hit. What is nice, since you bake it in those small shallow gratin type dishes you can place them all over where people are sitting (sort of like individual servings). DD's birthday is tomorrow (yes she was born on Ground Hogs Day), and for Northern's we like to hope spring is around the corner. Lot's of laughs on the Supermarket and milk and eggs:confused3. I would be in the market and look at peoples carts thinking, even if you don't get out for a few days, you have a months worth of food here:confused3. My other thing is that the markets pay off the weather people so they can get a rush of business:rotfl:.
Oh, notifications or I should say lack of:confused:. I receive random ones here and there:confused3, so I think is a Dis boards thing and not our server's.
