I have been trying to come up with a little more professional watermark. This is not my forte to be sure.

Please let me know what you think.

I had posted a thread a few months ago, if you want the most protection copyright wise, the international standard, is copyright/year/name..

I like it. It is large enough to say - back off this is mine - yet not so large that it is the first thing you see when you look at the photo.

:thumbsup2

I like it, but would make it smaller. Also, perhaps a bit more translucent. I like watermarks and was just trying to figure that whole thing out in PSE4, but I really like them to be rather invisable at the same time. I do love the style and shape!:)

at first I dodn't like it being 2 lines, but it's growing on me..

I would agree on the size though, at the very least it should be small enough to not be on the players foot..

I like it, but agree a more translucent or lighter color would be best. I wonder, also, what it would look like if you had no space between your names, ie GreggHall?

I've got to figure out how to do this, too.

Gregg,

JMO, It's too big. Maybe a tad smaller?

although it's fairly easy to do in PAint SHop Pro Photo X2

I prefer to use Photowatermark Professional, you have so much more control over the watermark and batch processing is really simple..

The way that I do mine is though smugmug. I make the watermark in PS and then upload the image to smugmug, set the image as a watermark and then when I upload images to smugmug it adds it to the images. The original is also stored without the watermark so I can always get the original back without it as well.

With this method size is a little tough, I guess I could have 2 different sizes one for portrait and one for land scape, because this size works fine for landscape I believe

I'll have to check into that, it adds a bit of work but it is do able.

If your goal is to prevent image theft, this last example isn't going to cut it. I saved the image and cloned out the watermark in barely over a minute.

The size does not bother me too much, I would have it more translucent. And this last pic of the pitcher I feel the water mark needs to be in the maine subject of the picture not off to the side that can be easy to cut out.

Not really, my desire is to make the honest people do the right thing. If someone truely wants to steal your image, they are going to do so, so If I have something that would really pain me to have stollen, I won't post it online. And clearly marking them does at least give you a little leverage should you catch someone stealing an image.

I was reading yesterday there is some service available, that marks your pictures, and then does searches for it on the www. Somehow it can actually erase your picture from places you do not authorize it. It was just a cover story so no idea how it works, but I thought it was interesting.

Another tidbit is lots of the kids on my son's baseball team grab my pics and put them on their myspace pages. They have my permission to do so, but I also thought that having my name on something that so many of their friends and parents see can't hurt :)

Keep us updated on that one, will you?

Thanks for both the links, guys.

I remember reading a while back about a way to tag your iimage and when it is downloaded you are notified who did the download. This may be the same this you were ready Master Mason

zenfolio works the same way, but when I add my watermark it gives me 4 sample photos, 2 vertical and 2 horizontal, so you can adjust the size and location so it works for both, are you sure smugmug doesn't offer that option...

oops just double checked, size can't be altered just location and opacity...

I have multiple watermarks stored with zenfolio and can pick which one I want for each gallery

sounds like it works the same, I watermark as I upload, so it does a gallery at a time. I could go back and change them if they are vertical or horizontal if I choose. It's just an extra step I'll have to think about.

I found where I read it, it was a response to a letter to the editor in Popular Photo. The company that is working on this is Attributor found at www.attributor.com That's all I know, I haven't even looked at the site.

if you really want it more as a signature i think it's fine, maybe a little smaller and i might not do the hump thing, more like you autographed it...if you want if for protection i've read it should be more transparent( no more than 60%,harder to get rid of maybe since it's harder to see all the bits in the shot?) and in the center
so far i'm just using zenfolio's generic gigantic PROOF :0. they have your copyright info with the photo but not sure where since it's not on the photo
