Thoughts on Vista Cay?

I'm looking people's experiences with rentals at Vista Cay. I'm planning a family trip (5-6 adults) to Orlando for a week starting on Thanksgiving Day. I was looking for something close to Universal (specially Epic Universe) that would also give us some space to spread out and Vista Cay came up. So what is the good, bad, and ugly on this?

Also, I see that I can rent directly from Vista Cay or through VRBO. Is one a significantly better idea than the other? In some ways, I like knowing the exact unit that we will be staying in (proximity to a pool and having a balcony are pluses), but I know that there can be downsides of dealing directly with an owner.

Any information is appreciated.

I would probably book direct depending on their Cancel Policy.
I also would be worried about being scammed unless I knew the owner .
I will have to google because I wasn’t aware there was a timeshare in the area of Universal …

Okay Do not believe what you are seeing online!
I am looking at this info online … making you believe it is walking distance.BD612331-4356-4A22-8629-DFFC65B1F562.png

I have been driving this area frequently because my Jeep Dealership (2012 Jeep) is also nearby and I have watched the construction …
I have also stayed at Stella Nova already The other hotel in picture is Terra Luna . Stella is closest to EPIC and is probably a 5 minute walk to EPIC .
That Vista Cay on google is huge and would require a long walk just to get out of that complex!

I would suggest trying some of the larger hotel chains that are family style design .
Also Universal property has a family design suite at Cabana Bay that you should consider …I always request close to elevator interior corridor for access to their wonderful cafeteria style dining and Starbucks in lobby !
This resort has 2 pools and a bowling alley …and Swizzle Bar in lobby and both pools have Bars and outdoor fire pit .

Plus the lobby is beautiful for holidays!
Don’t delay booking cause it is very popular.
Good luck
Please ask for more info !
I am actually staying there Monday night!

Also Universal has 2 value style family resorts called Dockside and Summer (?) .Can’t remember name cause I prefer Dockside but they areacross street from each other and are part of Loews Resorts that operate USO resorts .
USO has excellent bus transport for their guests ( better than WDW ) operated by Mears
I have also stayed at the Best Western right next door to Dockside because I had a lot of points to burn. Was extremely clean and great customer service.

I hope you have not already booked Vista Cay .

@DL1WDW2 Thanks for your thoughts!

I've done a lot of Universal stays (I probably have 100+ nights at Cabana Bay at this point), but for this trip, hotel rooms just aren't going to work. We have 5-6 adults from 3 different family groups and would like to have a mixture of both private spaces (at least 3 bedrooms) and a communal space as well as a full kitchen.

I'm looking for something close to Epic for ease of commute and to make mid-day breaks convenient rather than the walkability. Three of the people in the group have mobility limitations (and I'm going to be running a half marathon while in Florida) so we will definitely not be looking to add extra steps to our days.
