Thoughts on The Plaza Restaurant...

My family (myself, my wife, and our 2 year old) have reservations at The Plaza before Mickey's Not So Scary Party on October 3.

If any of you have eaten here before, I just wanted to see how your experience was. Any suggestions?

Decent sandwiches. Cute room. It seems we often have to wait a few minutes longer than expected to be seated. Sort of a "TS-light" kind of place; not as involved as a regular TS meal, but someone is still bringing you food.

The banana split is pretty good, too.

DW says: Stay away from the burgers. It's the same as any CS burger, so not worth wasting your time on at a sit down restaurant!

:)

As Brian said, it's a place to get a nice sandwich. The setting is decent, and the view out the windows is fine. We had slow service there. Not terribly slow, but slow.

I'd go back for a sandwich, but I'd do Tony's or Liberty Tree over this, especially if I wanted more of a traditional table service meal.

Which is not to say you've made a mistake -- just don't go in with high expectations. :)

I haven't eaten there since 2001, but I remember having a positive experience there. I had the salad with strawberries in it; it was good. It was a nice break from the day. Lately, we haven't eaten there simply because the menu is very simple and I'd rather use my dining plan TS credits elsewhere. It was good, but not as memorable as Tony's, Liberty Square, or Crystal Palace.

I'd pay for it too and not waste a TS credit (it's cheaper than most TS restaurants) and maybe have a TS breakfast on your check-out day instead (obviously this is only if you are on the dining plan)

We went last trip and enjoyed it. We have a reservation for our September trip. Cute place and we had a very nice waitress. I had a Cheese Steak sandwich and DH had the Chicken Strawberry salad. We both enjoyed our food and look forward to going back. :)

I like the Plaza. Always have. :thumbsup2

Like most WDW restaurants, it is a little crowded. The food is good, it's air conditioned, you needn't stand in line. :thumbsup2

It is noisy, like most Orlando restaurants.

I don't do the dining plans and don't know if it is on credits or worth credits or whatever and leave that to the Dining Plan Credit Experts.

Have eaten there once about 8 years ago and was so ferociously ill afterwards that I still have never gone back. And I would never go back. The limited menu and expense over a CS have never offered any incentive to either.

It is our traditional last meal before we leave Disney to go home or to the beach for a week. We have never had a bad meal or bad service. We've had every item on the menu between the four of us by now and loved it. They have the best french fries in all of Disney. And the desserts are :worship:

It is not a "must do" for us every trip but we do enjoy having lunch there from time to time. As suggested, if you are on the DP it really is not worth using a TS credit. My DH & I like to split a sandwich, fries & dessert. Very yummy.

We eat here every trip. We really enjoy it and think the atmosphere is great. It is good for us when we need a lighter dinner. The burger is NOT the same as a CS burger. It is much better. The cheesesteak is great. If you are paying OOP is is a great value for TS. Even on DDP we don't see it as "wasting" a TS credit. There comes a point in the trip where we need a lighter choice for dinner.

I agree. We always use a TS credit. I would rather use a TS credit on a meal I enjoy, no matter the price, than use it on a meal we hate (such as the WCC).

We absolutely adore The Plaza. A must-do for us each time. I do not like eating a heavy meal each and every day. Makes me sick after a few days. Wonderful ice cream. Big thick steak fries. Sandwiches that include a cheese steak and Reuben that is delicious. Tomato bisque soup and meatloaf are usually a special.

We love it too. We don't do the dining plan, so I can't speak to the "worth it" aspect, although to me, since the TS meals come with a dessert, you can't go wrong with a Reuben and Sundae at the Plaza.

I get tired of Pecos Bills, Columbia Harbor House or Cosmic Ray's. I'd much rather have someone bring me the meal, relax and enjoy it.

I've heard negative comments mostly from the "bang for your Dining Plan credit" contingent. But as another poster said, spending your credit on a meal you enjoy makes it totally worth it.

Oh, and I hate Tony's and would never go back there. We're trying LTT for lunch in December so I don't have an opinion on that. Crystal Palace is nice, but I hate being that full during a park day, so I wouldn't do that again!

Mmm... Quit it. ;) You're making me wish I was there right now. :genie:

The club sandwich is huge and delicious. I've eaten there once and do agree I wouldn't waste a TS on it.

We ate lunch there last May and had a very nice meal. The restaurant is small but enjoyable.

We love The Plaza. The best burger I've had on Disney property - not CS type burger for sure! We eat there every trip.

I went there for lunch a few years ago. I thought the food was good and didn't have any complaints about it, however I haven't been back since then because it was one of those locations I wanted to try at least once and if I didn't go back there it wouldn't be a big deal.
