Would it be logical to stay at OKW since if our 2nd child has moments of crying (which will happen I am sure), it is the place that we are least likely to disturb others. If it matters to people's opinions, we are planning on a 1 BR

Thanks

When we took our 3rd at about 7 mos of age, we opted for a 2 br at OKW, but not for the considerate reason you're giving -- we wanted quiet from the neighbors for her, not vice-versa! We just figured that the DVC with internal hallways would be noisier. Plus -- we took her stroller (and Grandma!) and it was so nice being able to just stroll her right into our ground-floor room! (And it was nice, too, having that car right there! Babies are on their own time, not ours, and it was great driving to DTD and knowing that when HRH deemed it was time to go, we had the wheels with no waiting!) And no stairs or balconies to worry about our 4 and 5 yr old falling over... also a plus!

Well, just a thought but we stayed in the trailers at FW when our 2nd and then 3rd child were babies. It is not perhaps as plush as DVC homes (which didn't exist then!) but it is very peaceful for the baby as well as the neighbors. Reasonable , too. You still would have a full kitchen although no w/d or whirlpool. We could put the baby down in the bedroom and still use the living room. We have great memories of those two stays.

Such Good ideas:

Like the ground floor idea - if we stay at OKW we will request that

Good idea BCV23 - FW is very nice and may work well - I will bounce that off DW tomorrow and see what she thinks.....doubtful but maybe....

With baby, it sure was nice having the "extra" room of OKW for that pack-n-play crib... We also had LOTS of floor space to lay out a baby blanket and let her stretch on the floor while the other kids watched TV. Just another bit of info to consider...

when you make the reservations - tell them you want a first floor in the quiet section - you will have a further walk to the buses - but your baby will get the quiet that she needs - 1-bedroom are pretty quiet - ask for a dedicated if possible.

IS there a quiet section at OKW? I've just never heard of it, but probably wasn't paying attention when it's been mentioned. If so, wouldn't putting a crying baby in that section negate that for everyone else staying there?

I have to applaud the OP here for your consideration. Many people wouldn't even give it a second thought. As your potential future neighbor, thank you!

That aside, we've stayed at all the on-site DVC properties and I can't say that I've heard our neighbors in any of them, unless they are on the balcony. You may want to consider VWL since it's closest to the MK and will be easier/quicker to get to when the baby needs a break. If your older child is more interested in MGM or Epcot, consider staying at BWV or BCV. If you aren't concerned with park time or will have your own transportation, OKW will give you some extra space.

one thing to note: packnplay fits in nicely in the laundry room. We just took a trip in may, and our 16-month old slept soundly in there -- he had his very own room.

One thought, would it be of benefit to be closer to the parks? Which ones are you planning to visit, would closer proximity allow for easier afternoon naps?

As a dad who has taken infants to Disney a couple times I would have to suggest OKW.. I cannot tell you how nice it is to only have to haul the stroller/diaper bags and all the other assorted baby things into the villa from the parking lot and only have to walk 200 feet or so. I even got the 'honey, I left this in the car can you go get it.' a couple of times.

Plus both of my kids enjoyed the wildlife you can see right from your balcony.

I wouldn't factor the crying into the equation. Your neighbors should be fine, whatever DVC resort you stay at. I would think that you would want to stay at either VWL or one of the Epcot resorts, just from a convenience standpoint with a young infant. Personally we love both VWL and BWV, and they both worked extremely well for us when our DS was 19mos and older.

How nice of you to be concerned about your neighbors. OKW might be a good choice for you. We stayed at OKW (1st floor unit) in October when our son was 15 months old. He had difficulty sleeping one night, woke up crying at 3:00 AM, and we couldn't get him back to sleep! My husband ended up putting him in the stroller and going outside for a walk. The baby went back to sleep pretty quickly and we were able to put him back into the Pack N Play for the rest of the night. My husband was very glad to be able to walk the baby outside and not up and down hallways, which probably would have disturbed other guests.

No matter where you choose to stay, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Thanks all, we will be going to OKW for this trip:

Larger Rooms - therefore less disturbing
DS gets own room which will be easier
More relaxing atmosphere for DW
Easier to take care of our latest addition due June 10th

lauginplace199, your comments tilted the balance - I can see that occuring to us as well

Thanks all for the nice feedback and kind words

We were there in April with our 13 month old granddaughter. We had a two bedroom and had requested a crib. But guess what, she was more comfortable in the packnplay. We too were on the first floor and nights she had a hard time falling asleep, it was great to just open the door, put her in a stroller and take her for a nice peaceful walk. Nana and Papa or Mom and Dad got to take her for a nice stroll and she loved it and every time, she fell asleep. Very soothing for all. Also, the extra room was great for her. Have a wonderful trip!

..the convenience of the car at OKW w/ very young children is invaluable. It is easier to Cool off the car by packing it and turning on a/c before everyone gets in. Also my children always fell asleep on the ride so it was easier for one parent to stay in the car w/sleeping kids while dad carried the others into the room. Not to mention all of the "stuff" that those little babies need!!

Mine are older now-8, 6 and 5. We took my 8yr. old when he was 2 months and had gone at least every other year until he was 4 and we bought at DVC. Now every year.
