This has some general thoughts but includes mostly attraction/strategy feedback so placing it in this thread.

1) I was hesitant about FP+ but it worked pretty well. I still prefer the old system by a landslide but FP+ can certainly be beneficial. I never bothered with trying to get a 4th but I did try to schedule FP+ for early afternoon/early evening when the lines are their longest. Example: On a Thursday afternoon, I booked FP+ for 7 Dwarfs, Peter Pan, and Haunted. Each of those lines was massive and FP+ saved me at least 2.5 hours of waiting.

2) Seven Dwarfs is a pretty fun ride but I'm totally amazed that 95% of rope droppers go to it. I don't think its quite worth the hassle of dealing with pushing, shoving, jumping, and skipping. So instead of doing that, I would head off to the other rides in Magic that I love like Space, Peter Pan, and Haunted. Peter Pan was very light and Space/Haunted were dead empty. I was able to get a ton of riding in by getting their at rope drop. Keep in mind, I had a FP+ scheduled for 7 Dwarfs later in the day so I wasn't completely missing out. If you don't have a FP+ for 7 Dwarfs, you're pretty much forced into rope dropping it or you'll be waiting.

3) Getting to the parks before open is CRITICAL. I've heard some people say that its not as beneficial anymore because some folks have morning FP+. I disagree, I didn't notice much of a drop off between early morning crowds between Legacy FP and FP+. Crowds became pretty bad in the afternoon. In fact, there was one morning where I did safari twice and could have easily gone back for a 3rd time with no wait. I've never seen that in all the years I've gone to Safari.

4) Be Our Guest Lunch was absolutely delicious. I was sad that I only booked a FP for one day. Next trip, will get the FP for each lunch I plan to have in Magic.

5) Sad to report that I noticed a significant attitude amongst the Disney employees. I don't want to come down too hard on them because they don't make a ton of money but man, the magic is gone folks. They seem more intent on bossing people around and barking orders than trying to make one's trip truly magical.

A lot of my dining experiences were pretty delicious but then I experienced some awful service at Le Celier. I ordered a soup, waitress forgot it. I ran out of coke, it took the waitress 10 minutes to even stop by the table again so I ask for a refill. My mom wanted mashed potatoes with her steak instead of the risotto, waitress said nope but that my mom could buy a side. Then the kicker was I was halfway through my steak and the waitress came by and asked me "if I wanted to box up the rest and if I was ready for dessert."

Now I know that some are going to tell me that they had some truly awesome interactions with the Disney folks and I had a couple good ones too, but OVERALL (that means on average), they are not up to par.

I think your points are spot on.

One advantage of FP+ is for afternoon of arrival day, which may sway us towards doiong MK rather than pool and relax this year.

I'm curious why you were not interested in extra FPs at MK

Seems to me a great strategy fot those interested in 7DMT and A&E in the same day is to schedule both of those FPs in the morning since they are a real pain to rope drop anyway, use your 3rd when it starts to get busy in the late AM and then be teed up for extra FPs all afternoon and early evening. A little extra planning to be near kiosks when you will need more, and this could work really well. The extra FPs are probably not that helpful in the non-MK parks.

How is the ease of changing FP on smarthphones in the park these days? Do you still have to take a leap of faith when you "change experience" that a favorable time will be available? Or do you still "change time" first and then see what is available?

Yes but not just for Magic, it's advantageous for all parks I would say. We were staying in the Epcot area so we always go to Epcot on the first afternoon. We had our FP reserved for Soarin and then did Spaceship and Nemo. Not a huge advantage for Spaceship and Nemo but certainly for Soarin it was.

Well we weren't interested in A&E at all so essentially we could have used 1 FP for 7D and then maybe a Peter Pan and then maybe Space late AM. But to be honest, I had no issues with any line in the early AM (except 7D) so I didn't want to book 1 FP for 7D and then essentially waste 2 just to have the privilege of walking over to a kiosk to book more. Once they allow guests to book extra FP on MDE, then I will be more apt to take advantage of it. But we're also a family that wants to go back to our resort and chill in the middle of the afternoon so I'm not going to be someone who is continually looking for extra FP throughout the day.

And you're right, trying to get a 4th in one of the other parks isn't as advantageous. Don't even bother at Epcot. Perhaps AK and DHS (Toy Story will be gone).

Extremely easy. I was very impressed with the ease. And yes, you can see what's available before making the official switch. There was lots of availability at Magic even in the late morning (Splash, Space, Haunted, Pirates, Big Thunder). No 7D, Anna, or Peter Pan.. was disappointed that I could never get a Peter Pan but apparently people have caught on that that's a valuable FP.

I did it on Saturday and it was still a leap of faith. Luckily, it worked out and the times I needed were available (it was our departure date), but our original FPP were gone as soon as we choose to see the times on a new attraction and I would not have been able to get them back.

Wow this discussion is EXACTLY what I needed to read, since I'm almost there! I've done SO much research and participated in these boards a lot lately so I feel like I'm going to get the most out of the experience for us.

We have early FP+ for our first day at MK because all expire before 11am so I'm hoping to get more. Day 2 has on FP+ for TSMM in the morning and that's our only FP for now. Our 3rd day,MK, is early but I'm open to changing it depending on how day 1 goes. Day 4 is Epcot and our FP+ are in the afternoon. We are planning to ride standby for everything in the morning. Last day is MVMCP so obviously the FP+ are later.
