Thoughts on Rainforest, especially if you are there on a MHP night

We went to Rainforest on a previous trip and were very disappointed. It was a spur of the moment stop and there was a long wait and we ended up crammed into a table upstairs and away from any theming. This time I knew I needed to plan something for dinner at DTD when DH would have a conference break to see us before he had to get back so I made a reservation at RFC. I was surprised I couldn't do it online and had to call. The person answering was young and less than helpful. I had requested a table by the aquarium to entertain the kids if DH was late and I knew service could be slow. I didn't have much hope because she said you couldn't make requests until you arrived. I called about a week before to confirm the reservation and again made my seating request. When we arrived there was a long line of people waiting but we didn't have to wait long and were seated by the aquarium. It was a much better experience since the kids were happy and entertained! We splurged on the animal icee cups and the kids loved the little animal figures which made fun bath toys for them at the hotel. DTD was very crowded on MHP nights so if you aren't going and need to plan ahead we had a great time at RFC and Goofy's.

It's great to hear that things worked out for you!

Also, for those that know they are going to eat at RFC, but don't want to make a reservation, I would look into the Landry's Select Club. There is a $25 fee to join, but you get a $25 credit to be used at any Landry's Location (e.g., RFC), so essentially, it's a wash. The biggest benefit is priority seating. I've used at RFC in DTD (and at Yak & Yeti's in WDW's WK) and it's worked out great.

I have an Landry's card, too. They say that Landry members won't have longer than a 10 minute wait, but I've waited longer than that.

For those who walk up and don't have a Landry's card, ask to be seated in the bar. Normally, we are instantly seated. While there isn't as much entertainment as other areas of the restaurant, there is rain. Also, it seems less noisy there which is nice if you want to talk to the people you are dining with.

Me too! I waited once 45 minutes with the Landry's Card...walk-up were being told 3 hours! I suspect it usually under 10 minutes, but on really busy days, it's more a percentage of walk-up wait time (kind of like FP!).
