Thoughts on QSDP Please!

We have a 4 day trip planned at the end of November and I'm still debating the whole dining plan deal. Sometimes we do the "regular" dining plan and sometimes we just go OOP, but we've never done the QSDP.

My concern is that it will be like eating fast food for 4 days, but there aren't a whole lot of TS places available that we haven't been to before or want to try and it's always so much food! I do like having meals paid for in advance, though so the QS plan seems like a good compromise.

Can anyone give me some good places that aren't "typical" counter service burger and fries joints? We are only going to HS, MK, and Epcot (no AK or DTD probably). We'd definitely like to try Be Our Guest, but what other places are good CS choices?

Pros, cons, suggestions on the QSDP are appreciated! Thanks! :thumbsup2

As you said, a QS meal at BOG is definitely worth looking forward to, we also LOVE Columbia Harbor House for the Anchors away tuna sandwich, the fried shrimp platter, and the salmon. The taco salad at Pecos bills is neat because you just get a huge shell filled with the taco meat and you fix the salad toppings yourself, at the very extensive "fixin's bar". A lot of people like Cosmic Rays for the chicken and ribs combo, I have never tried it..

Epcot has a fabulous french bakery (Boulangerie Patisserie), which is VERY worthy of your snack credits! Warm ham & cheese croissants and napoleons, to name a few of my favorites. Also Kringla Bakery in Norway is a favorite of many.
We love La Cantina in Mexico for nachos and warm churros with caramel dip.
Sunshine Seasons in The Land, for tons of fresh and interesting choices (here you will likely consume something that was grown right in The "Living with the Land" greenhouse!) with no burgers in sight.
Katsura Grill in Japan has shrimp tempura udon noodle soup that is very nice, and lots of combo platters featuring teriyaki chicken, beef and salmon.
Tangierine Cafe in Morocco has very cool Mediterranean food, wraps, platters and lamb, chicken and falafel pita "sliders", baklava, etc.
Yorkshire County fish shop in UK has very good fish & chips!

Not so much at DHS, we like starring rolls for bakery items, and the sandwiches look very fresh and are huge. GIANT cupcakes for dessert!

Hope this helps:)

I like QSDP, but it suits how our family tours/eats and we're doing the free dining plan, so the cost calculations were easier.

As far as where to eat that isn't burgers and fries, that's pretty easy.

MK:
Cosmic Rays has chicken and ribs
Columbia Harbour House has salmon, as well as hummus or tuna sandwiches
Main Street Bakery has a wide variety of stuff, although it's pretty sandwich-y.
Liberty Square Market has baked potatoes (and sometimes baked sweet potatoes), corn on the cob, and a good selection of fruit/veg snacks.

AK:
Flame Tree BBQ has... barbeque
Harambe fruit market is my choice for less-junky snacks.
Yak and Yeti does chinese food, but I think it's pretty typical fast-food chinese.
Tamu-Tamu has a couple of sandwiches and a salad that are "more interesting" by Disney food standards.

HS:
I almost never actually eat at this park..
Fairfax Fare has chicken and ribs
People seem to really like Starring Rolls

Epcot:
Sunshine Seasons has a wide variety.
Most of World Showcase isn't burgers and fries.

Most of the resort hotel quick service options are more varied.

DTD
Pollo Campero
Wolfgang Puck Express
Maybe Earl of Sandwich

That's what comes to mind as places we eat, and I'm not a big fan of burgers/hot dogs.

We have done the QSDP twice and had no problem finding decent food. Our "old reliables" are...
Wolfgang Puck Express (Downtown/Marketplace) Not your average QS!
Columbia Harbour House (MK) Tasty tuna sandwiches
Cosmic Ray's (MK) Chicken and ribs with mashed & veggies
Pecos Bill (MK) Build your own taco salad
Tangerine Care (Epcot/Morocco) Chicken schwarma platter
Sunshine Seasons (Epcot) Salmon and panini are really good
Piazza Planet (HS) for the kids ;)
Flame Tree (AK) good bbq

Doesn't have to be "fast food" food unless that's what you're hungry for.:)

My sis and I will be there Dec 17 through 20 and we are also doing the QSDP. Our favorites have already been mentioned but I recently read that there is a New York strip steak dinner at the quick service venue, American pavilion in Epcot. We will definitely take advantage of that!

Has anyone actually had this yet - is it worth getting over the other yummy choices at Epcot?
