Thoughts on new premier pass

However, for those of us that live in California, it isn't as great of a deal. ... <snip> ... A much better option for us in California is to maybe buy a Disneyland deluxe or premium AP, and then buy a 10 day never expiring park hopper with water parks and more for $500 that we can then use for several years in a row for water park and theme park admission at WDW.
This Californian's approach: Purchase WDW AP using DVC discount ($389 + tax) plus Costco's 4 day PH for SoCal Residents ($159) for total just over $550. Don't need DLR parking as we tend to stay overnight and walk from hotel/resort and don't tend to use WDW waterparks as our Orlando visits are in Dec/Jan.

Disney will have to offer at least a $125 DVC-member discount on the Premier pass for me to consider it.

I have heard this before but found it not to work for us. I was told (several years ago) that WDW passes can be used @ DL, but was told differently by Disney so I never tried it.

Can you elaborate on how this works?

It works....I did it a few weeks ago.

Go straight to the gate.
Tell CM you want to use a WDW ticket to enter.
CM calls over a supervisor who takes your ticket away.
A few minutes later supervisor returns with your ticket as well as another ticket you can use for the day at DL. Since our original tickets were PH we rec'd PH at DL as well. Supervisor also confirmed with me how many days were now left on our old tickets.

Easy as pie! And we saved a bundle---daily cost on the old WDW tickets was approx. $35. per day. To buy a PH admission in Dec. at DL would have been close to $100.

One additional point to this is that a Premium pass at DLR gets you a 15% discount on dining. And 10% off at all merchandise locations (not just World of Disney) I am assuming this pass would qualify for that as well.

You can get a bunch of similar discounts with Disney Visa as well.

Just to clarify this only works for regular passes not APs.

They are keeping the reg PAP..right?

so there are 3 categories of passes..the AP, the PAP and now this one that includes DL?

we still get our discount for PAP? that is the ticket I use most.

I dont have enough money to upgrade to this new one(my passes exp end april)

tho I would love to if they had a decent DVC discount as I had planned to visit DL within the next 12 months

However, you know Disney.....now that his premium pass is available, Disneyland's policy may change, they may not continue to honor WDW passes.

Oooh, that's true.
But I thought the only reason they allow WDW pass to be used at DL is because WDW pass is more expensive than DL? That's why it doesn't work the other way around...

But then again, as you said they can change the rule anytime I spose... :confused3

Count me in as a regular WDW AP holder. The last time I visited a Disney water park or Disney Quest was 1999. If there was a non-premium version, I'd consider it. Maybe $575, minus a $50-75 DVC discount?

I do love DL and VGC - but right now we can't justify the cost of a visit there since we have WDW APs. Like others have said, this coast-to-coast pass sounds like it would be perfect for DVCers, but not the way they have it set up now.

Exactly what we did last August. Daily cost on our WDW 10 day parkhopper tickets was must better than buying DL tickets of any kind.

Without a DVC discount we will not be purchasing the dual AP as it's more expensive than buying the Deluxe DL AP and parkhopper tickets at WDW. :sad2:

We typically don't have time for waterparks, DisneyQuest or golf while in WDW so those don't benefit us.

We wouldn't use the parking and many of the discounts are already available with from other sources like Disney VISA, DVC discount etc.

As others have said, if you weren't already buying PAP at DL & WDW then it's hard to justify the cost.

My thoughts exactly. We save money by getting a deluxe pass at DLR without parking, as parking is free when staying at DVC. The cost of parking during day visits is still cheaper than adding parking to one of our deluxe passes.
In WDW we get length of stay passes, as we only stay a week.
