I didn't read pages 3-12 because it seemed to have just been a bunch of people calling someone racist and trying to dig up all the **** they could on greenyskp rather than talking about the topic at hand: immigration.

There are about 10 immigration threads. We don't need another. This one just happened to be the most vile of them all.

And the topic is immigration? I thought it was ILLEGAL immigration. It's not semantics, that single word makes all the difference in this debate.

But the statics can be misleading. too. While Hispanics may make up the highest overall percentage of dropouts (in other 40% of the kids droppnng out are Hispanic) consider this:

The percentage of Hispanic kids that dropped out before high school graduation went from a high 30% of the Hispanic students to 20% of the Hispanic students, a 33% fall in the dropout rate amongst Hispanics.

Among whites, the rate went from 15% to 11%, or a 26% fall, so percentage wise the Hispanics made greater improvements in drop out rate than whites.

My point is statics and studies can be very misleading unless you look at the overall picture. And generally you put whatever spin on them you wish.

But isn't it common practise in all publicly funded organisations to make sure all of this years budget is spent in order to avoid having next year's reduced?

Yep. Gotta love government bureocracy.

You want lower taxes? Good luck. It'll never happen because people in government who are truly interested in lowering costs or being frugal with their budget get this type of instruction. Spend it or else.

Many of them are just schoolyard bullies, trying to run with the "cool" kids. Most of them don't care to debate the real issues because they don't understand the real issues.
Most of them get offended really fast and get offensive even faster.
Many of them are goofing off at work and DISing when they should be working so their levels of attention and comprehension leave a lot to be desired.

There is a problem with illegal immigration in the US. Pretending there isn't won't help anybody, legal or otherwise.

Nope, don't read your blog all day--once was enough before you got called on the content and you pulled the link. And actually, I just got back from volunteering at ds's school since you've asked. Unpaid job, but a job nonetheless.

Quite frankly I don't care how wonderful and sweet you are to your friends and family. Let them all come and defend you! The point is that you have the power to change people's minds about you by being more aware of what you are saying and refuse to do it for whatever reason. (here's a hint: making petulant and snarky moderator channeling comments about people's posts on this thread and how they don't meet your approval doesn't help). Sending Momma and your friend here to fight your battles just makes you look even more immature.

As far as not being interested in debating the subject and only being interested in calling the OP a racist - I guess you haven't actually read all of the responses. I never once called her a racist. I prefer to let one's words speak for themselves if you will. I've also been all over the multitude of illegal immigration threads discussing the issue and yes I've even discussed it here on this thread. I just can't take the letter in the OP with any merit because even though the underlying message is something I agree with, it's racist drivel and I feel it detracts from the message.

I work as an assitant for the music departments on fridays for 2 schools in the district.

Then i work about 8 other jobs throughout the week. Today I'm a moviemaker. I've been editing allday.

I work at my brother's school's (old elem. and new middle) on fridays. Good for you for volunteering. (that wasnt sarcastic, i know its difficult for them to get parents in there to help..)
