Blah blah blah I know. Identifying and pointing out ethnicity's makes me a racist.

I've finally figured it out, I'm not racist, I just dont like anyone.

<sarcasm...>

. All that was said was a schools budget was spent, updating computers, that these children vandalized.

And students that are here legally don't vandalize?? or does it not matter because they are after all here legally???

I'm not racist! I'm not racist! But I'll continue to spew racist crap trying to defend myself. Hahahaha

That was specifically refering to the students in a title 1 class. Meaning they are learning english as a second language.

I live in DALLAS, TEXAS, and guess what - we have lots of Hispanics here, too. I can't tell, just by looking, which ones are citizens and which ones are not. Please share with me the secret sign.

Okay this was hilarious! my comment of the day! :)

There was something on CNN where they interviewed people from the rally's. And those that could speak some english, ALL mentioned that it wasnt fair that the national anthem wasnt sung in both english and spanish at sporting events etc. That goes back to people are arent here legally, demanding a say in any happenings in our country.

and you know that those people who were interviewed on CNN are not here legally - HOW? Again, just because somebody standing on American soil happens to look and sound differently than you, does not make them an Illegal Alien.

Yeah but those two things do not mean someone is an illegal immigrant.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Its very sad to me, that so many people on these boards make such harsh judgements on people, based only on what they post.

I realize that is the only way someone can 'get to know' their fellow board member...

There are definitly racist people out there. I have some very strong opinions on some big issues. But im not racist. Again, in BRADENTON, FL the biggest majority of illegal immigrants is hispanic. This is my perception, due to the area that I am in. If you live in a north state, or out west, or in new england. Your percetion could be very very different.

And yes, as far as WIC goes, many people abuse it. But in all my years working at Publix, i rarely saw a white or african american family pull out a WAD of money to pay for their cigarettes and beer with. While Wic and Food stamps were used for the food. Yes white people and african americans do the same thing.

Not to mention, I could openly communicate with the white families and african american familes on wic or food stamps, if they grabbed something that wasnt on their WIC list. But most hispanics? It was next to impossible to explain that you have to get regular Kix. Instead of Fruity kix for wic. Thats aggravating. And thats what I mean about the language barrier. Its just as aggravating when someone who only speaks french comes through the line and has a problem as well. but thats a much much rarer scenerio.

Maybe Im old fashioned and patriotic, but I still get teary eyed when I hear the national anthem sung correctly. I bowl in tournements all over the state, and I cant imagine having to hear it sung in spanish, as well as english. It would just take away the magic for me.

To me its just common sense that not EVERY person in an ethnicity acts the same way. Its crazy to me for people to point that out, because I just assume... duh... everyone knows that everyone doesnt think the same. Its common sense.

Good Lord in Heaven--do you know how you sound? :sad2: It's like I'm adrift in a sea of offensiveness. Miss Jasmine--throw me a lifesaver!

Here's a hint: Broad generalizations and hyperbole will cause you to lose credibility no matter which side of the argument you're on. Oh, yeah, and blatant racism and xenophobia, too.

When DH and I went to the immigration office for his permanent residency/marriage interview, I was actually shocked to see that most of the other people in the waiting room (and it was a HUGE waiting room) were Hispanic. There's definitely a good number of them in the system trying to do this legally. :thumbsup2

As they say, you can't make this stuff up. :rotfl2:

BTW: It's no fun being an illegal alien. Just ask Phil Collins and Genesis.

Actually Title 1 doesn't necessarily mean you are learning English as a second language. It generally helps kids with reading. It doesn't necessarily mean you are under priviledged either. My daughter is in Title 1 (she is dyslexic) and we make double the average income for this town.

Sweeping generalizations are dangerous Stephenie. Perhaps you aren't racist but you need to step back and take a long hard look at your beliefs and evaluate how you feel about people from Mexico.

There are large amounts of people from Mexico immigrating right now. Back when we had large amounts of Europeans immigrating they didn't all learn English in a day and blend into soceity. There is a reason there were neighborhoods of same language people clustered together. It isn't easy to assimilate into a society and it can take awhile. Some people, even after immigrating legally can't do it and go back home. It isn't easy...especially for those who speak a different language. How can you say they have no desire to want to learn. You don't know that!

Obviously, since you are so patriotic you will never have the need to immigrate anywhere. Lucky you.

That is a good point. And whats even better is when I took a moment to think about, I remembered how pretty Mexico is, and how interested I was in the history, when i was in high school.

My great-grandparents went through some harsh times coming here from Russia and Poland. (as did all of the immigrants from europe) What bothers me, is that it seems specifically with Mexico, that because America is a free and prosperous place, and happens to be right next door, that they think they are automatically entitled to that free life as well. And they are. Im not heartless. Everyone should be able to live like we do in America. But as a country, in the times we live in, with terrorists and drug trafficing, its simply not smart to welcome them with open arms. You have take legal action and have laws in place to document who is here. Even if it is a long tedious process. America was built on things that took a long time. YOu cant expect to just get that gratification overnight. I think Mexico has been targeted in all this because its right next door. And you can literally walk over. And because people have stereotypes (myself included) of what Mexicans think and do. I can only report on what I see. And what I saw at those Rally's were lots of Hispanics, waving flags from where they from, and demanding rights.

When people immigrated here from Europe, while it was war-time, it was a different time. I get concerned that because these people have no record of being alive in our country, that could commit lots of crimes, undetected and never be found. And this doesnt even specifally lie in JUST mexico. But as we all know. Its IMPOSSIBLE to get off a plane in America, and get through customs without your passport and proper paperwork.

I'm sorry if it seems ive come off for this to ONLY be about Hispanics. The letter was referring to hispanics. But like ive tried to convey, I took the message of the letter, not the specifics, to heart. That ALL illegal immigrants are making the costs of health care etc go up. I didnt mean soley hispanics.

And Im sorry to those I've offended. Im not a detail-oriented kind of person. Im a whole-picture kind of person. I missed what those of you pointed out. -Sorry

I HAVE A RACE ISSUE ....... I cant decide which one has the most pretty women ..... and it is really driving me nuts :confused3

Title 1 may be used by students in an ESL program, but it does not mean all Title 1 kids are learning ESL. How do I know this? My DS (8YO, Irish-American, born in Massachusetts) receives Title 1 assistance for about half of his math curriculum. I ASSURE you, English is indeed, his first language. But, we're working on some Spanish, and some ASL.

As for the rest, I don't even know where to begin.

It does, however, have everything to do with culture. A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that
refuses to assimilate... and an American culture that has become so weak and politically correct that we don't have the will to do anything about it.
And how do you know that it's a third world culture ? What do you know about it that you can prove that?

And yes, as far as WIC goes, many people abuse it. But in all my years working at Publix, i rarely saw a white or african american family pull out a WAD of money to pay for their cigarettes and beer with.

Come to PA , you will see plenty of them here.

You have take legal action and have laws in place to document who is here. Even if it is a long tedious process.

HELLO???? where have you been??? Those laws have been in place for many years now , but you know what the problem is? NOBODY enforced them!!!
And if you ever wonder why only south americans are protesting , it's because people coming from other continents must get into this country legally , I am European and I got into this country legally. Why would I protest even if I'm Spanish? They got themselves into this mess and they should get themselves out , but don't forget that the government has a lot of flaws here too and THAT needs to change.

I think we all (except for apparently the OP) know this isn't true. All the African-American best friends, teary-eyed reactions to the Star Spangled Banner, and claims of satire will not change that fact.

Okay, OP, I have a question for you. Did your "African-American best friend" get a kick out of your racist satire? I sure failed to find the humor--especially the "jokes" about slavery. Or maybe your black friend was just too darn "lazy" to read it.

Oh, give me a break already. You really, really need to stop claiming that you're so misunderstood and own up to your racist beliefs. The only thing worse than a racist is a racist who is too cowardly to admit the racism.

And, ChuckB, here's one vote for the black chicks! :teeth:
