While listening to the HM's original full attraction soundtrack on my iPod, I noticed that the popup ghosts during the attic scene all say "I DO!" in their own individual variation. I know there's been some debate on this, but I can say that at least for a good while, they all said that. With the new changes to the bride and the addition of suitors' portraits (headless IIRC from a previous post) and the bride's axe, it could very well be that originally the bride HAD been intended as a murderer, and these new changes are being implemented to help strengthen that storyline from what became known as the popular story; being that the bride had been murdered by her intended groom when she was seen in the attic with the never-used Hatbox ghost (sure be cool if they can put him in now that they can do the effect right), then the groom hangs himself, and that the popup ghosts were the ghosts of the wedding party members. Another variation of the original was that the groom simply hanged himself when he saw the bride and Hatbox ghost together, and the bride died of a broken heart after that. And of course another that's the same as the second, only the bride actually WAS having an affair.
