I was wondering what others thoughts are on this summer nightastic event.
We were there last night and really enjoyed it, fun and festive.....popcorn::

I've walked by it a couple times, including last night;). I still don't think I know what really goes on there. Sounded interesting and at least better than waiting for the 11:15 WoC.

We loved it! A LOT of fun and entertainment! The CM's really enjoy bringing the crowd into the celebration.

For those who haven't seen it, it's like a 60's type Mardi Gras with funky colors/costumes/kaleidoscope screens, ect done Disney Style. Very family and kid friendly. I would recommend seeing it if possible. When we were there, they had shows in Sunshine Plaza before the Glow Fest street party, but a lot of those same performers were in the street party as well. The street party started around 8:15 or so, but, with all things Disney, that is always subject to change.

They serve beer and other cocktails in booths during it, but, it's limited and pricey. I want to say they had Blue Moon and Dolsecies (sp) for beer and had things like Cosmos in light up glasses. I think the beers were about $7 each, but didn't notice the prices on the other drinks. We opted to wait to drink our bud light back at the hotel rather than pay $7 a piece for a glass of beer.

Haha, And that's al lyou need to know! ;)

But seriously, They serve Mojitos with a light up swizzle stick, Cosmos in a light up cocktail (plastic) glass, and Blue Moon and Dos Equis. The beers are $7, and the other drinks are about $10.50. For a bigger variety you could always go to the Cove Bar, the Beer Truck in the Pacific Wharf area, or go to Downtown Disney or one of the hotels and always head back in afterward.

I like the party atmosphere, even if it's not the most attractive thing during the daylight hours :)

I loved glow fest! There were lots of CM's around and most people were enjoying themselves and dancing, just having a good time. I didn't see anyone drunk, and with so many CM's I doubt a drunk guest would last long.

We went through it earlier this week. I like the idea of it but did not like the sight of adults engaged in chugging contest while their kids sat on the curb. The atomosphere was not to our liking so we left. No problem, plenty to do elswhere. The way I feel is if it gets more people to stay in California Adventure then maybe they will start keeping that park open longer or opening earlier.

i dont like it... Ppl are getting drunk there. :\

Just like they are at the Cove Bar, The Beer Truck, Downtown Disney, and at several bars throughout the Resort Hotels. How is it any different? Added music?

I thought part of Disney was that the only place you could buy alchohol was Club 33? I'm all for drinking responsibly, as I'm sure most do within the park, but I just dont associate DLR with alchohol. To me, it seems unnecessary.

Well all those places are in DCA not DLR. Otherwise you're right; the only place to drink in DLR is Club 33.

To me, I think that it does not fit very well with the image that they are trying to change DCA into, with all of the new attractions, etc. coming to the park. While it may seem interesting and entertaining, and it appears that the event has been well received, I am not exactly sure that Walt would have liked having something like that in his park. Sure, it keeps people there and entertained, but I think that they could have came up with something a little better, IMO.

For us, we were not interested in the event at all. It was too loud, and to many people drinking. I mean, there are what 3 or 4 bars set up in that small area? It all just seemed a little over the top for my tastes. And FWIW, I have an occasional drink, enjoy dancing and clubs, but it just doesn't fit into the Disney image I guess. I would much rather fill my time riding rides, or watching entertaining shows while at DLR.

But..... that's just my opinion. :)

When I want to go out to a club, I do. When I want to have some good, clean family fun I go to Disney. Why are they trying to turn DCA into a club atmosphere at night? I see fights and car wrecks in the near future associated with all the drinking.

I didn't see that drinking was a problem. All of the bars were deserted when I was there. If no one is buying, Disney isn't going to keep them around for long.

ITA! Seemed like a place for all the local teenagers to hang out with their friends and act like total goofballs.

I think DCA is being marketed as a more adult-friendly park overall, isn't it? I see nothing wrong with selling drinks. I recall going to DL and the adults all wanted a drink so badly by 5ish we had to monorail over to DLH for it. Just seems a lot easier to let the adults sip a drink while they see the parks instead. No one's fighting or driving drunk or getting pregnant out of wedlock or anything. Well, the ones that are doing those things aren't buying $11 glowtinis (with 1/4 oz. of booze), they brought their own flask from home.
