Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a few weeks now (I actually found this board through my husband  ) and I finally thought I would make my first post!

We have APs but like to stay at DL for a few days at a time since we can't fit all the fun into one day. We are thinking about staying at the Fairfield Inn on South Harbor Dr. I've been looking to see any reviews about it but I havent seen much. Is it really as close to the park as they say? Has anyone had a bad experience there? Thank you for any info you might have! :cloud9:

Welcome!

My first trip to DL in 2003 I stayed at the Fairfield and I thought it was great. Nice rooms, decent overall facilities, the restaurant in the parking lot. My room had a view of Space Mountain and the monorail and it was a piece of cake walk to/from the parks.

Great!! Thank you so much for letting me know! I didnt even know you could possibly get a view of space mountain

We are staying there at the end of May, from what I have read on this board people were happy with the Fairfield Inn.

I'm going to take lots of pictures of the hotel when we go so I will be sure to post them here and give a review of the hotel.

I stayed at the Farifield Inn in March and it was great. Very nice hotel and enjoyed the Disney touches in the rooms.:goodvibes

We really liked the hotel when we went last year. The walk was so easy, even after HOURS in the park. Millie's is the restaurant in the parking lot. They will also deliver to the hotel if you don't want to wait to eat in the restaurant.(word to the wise, it is ALWAYS busy) It is really good!:thumbsup2 McDonald's is right next door, so if you want something quick there is that route.

The only advice is that if you have a car, find a place to park and do not move it the whole time you are there. Parking is horrid!:scared1:
There is no assigned parking spots, it is first come first serve.

Second, the pool is not that big, but if you are not pool people, then it won't bother you.

Have a great trip and have fun!!

We stayed there in Dec 03. We had no complaints about the property. We have not been back simply because for the same price we can stay at the candy cane inn, which includes breakfast. The fairfield does not. If the CCI was not available I would stay easily consider the fairfield as a 2nd choice.

Thanks again for all the great info! Now I can relax a little more about the trip :cutie:

Big thanks too for that link with the map and hotel locations! That will really help out for future trips:thumbsup2

We stayed there last november and loved it so much we chose it for our two week trip this coming june. The rooms were clean, the walking distance was great, (about 5-7 minute walk), and the pizza hut in the hotel was very convenient. We got a room on the 8th floor with a disney view, and had vending machines next to our door. Also, a McDonalds is located next to it, and you have Ihop on the way to the park. Yummy! Enjoy your stay!

According to their website, they do serve a free hot breakfast.

Most Fairfields do serve breakfast. However, if you go the site and look specifically at the disneyland property you'll find this Please note: There is NO complimentary breakfast offered at our hotel and no RV, trailer, boat, and/or oversized vehicle parking. The did offer free breakfast for children at the Millies, with an adult purchase.

Oh, thanks for the tip - will have to cross them off my list. Looking for a nearby hotel which serves breakfast at a reasonable price.

We stayed there in February. I was pleased with the room itself. It was very clean, the walk to DL wasn't bad. My only complaints were that we were right above the pool and it was very loud. And the location of the elevator was inconvenient, as we were on the opposite end of the hotel. We would've taken the stairs, but we had strollers with us. Otherwise, I was pleased with the hotel. HTH. :)

we were there last fall when the fires were raging. It's hotel/motel feel but the room was nice. Loved being able to see into the magic kingdom of disneyland as it was our first time there.

McDonalds is right next to it and loved being able to eat a quick breakfast or snack coming home.

I think you'll like it.

:thumbsup2

Just got back (literally) from The Fairfiled today...

it's a Marriot hotel...what can I say

nice, clean, you know what you're gonna get

great location...short walk to main gate of DL (about 5 minutes)

We stayed at the Fairfield April 5th. Nice rooms, really comfy beds.
This a close up pic of the Matterhorn Mountian from right outside of our room. :)

I recently stayed here and found it to be very nice. I, too, liked the Disney touches that were around the room. Having said that, I found myself not a week later back at Disney and stayed at the Ramada (also on Harbor) and I prefered the Ramada. The rooms at the Ramada had both a microwave and a fridge..very handy. The Ramada was slightly cheaper but slightly closer to Disney's entrance ( no biggie, just a few steps shorter). The Fairfield is set back in from the road, and when the Disneyland Express dropped me off, it left me at the curb..meaning I had to lug my suitcases to the lobby and that was tiresome (not a reflection on the hotel, but on DL Express). Here's some photo's from that trip:
