Thoughts on doing the Sunrise Safari the same day as check-in.

I've stayed on the CL at AKL before and have gone on the SS.

Is this too stressful? We'll be coming from GF and I would get a cab to AKL. Right now I have a ressie for the night before but I'm thinking of staying one more night at GF.

Any thoughts? I have 3 children, but we are early risers anyway.

Well, I know you said you want to spend one more night at the GF, but you have to be out of there so early to make the SS? Is it really worth it?

I think I would go to AKL the night before and not have such a hectic morning

I would kind of doubt that you could go on the sunrise safari the day you check in. As you know, you have to be a CL guest as since check in time is 3 pm and the safaris is a t 7 am, you wouldn't technically be checked into the CL when the safari was scheduled. Better to check in the night before.

Lori, why are you considering adding on one more night at the GF? Just wondering if you were trying to figure out the logistics of moving or were planning on being at the MK and therefore GF is more convenient. Of course it could just be love of the GF, which I'm totally up on :teeth:

I'm not positive, but I think SuperDuperBounce is right, you would not technically even be a guest of the AKL at 6am. Your best source of information on this one, is to probably ask the question of both pre-planning staffs. Who knows, if the AKL has vacancies on the safari, it might not be a problem.

Yes, you can go on the safari on the day of check in.

Cass & Tammi, EMH is late at MK on Weds. night and the Safari we want is on Thursday morning. That little voice in my head keeps telling me to keep my reservations and check in at AKL on Weds. I guess we could still use RPC lounge if we're near there before heading over to MK for a late night. I do love the GF but I'm also very much looking forward to our AKL suite.

Have you confirmed this with AKL (being able to take the SS prior to check in)? It sure doesn't seem like an accomodation they would make, especially since the tours so frequently have waiting lists. I think I'd be ticked if a space wasn't available for me and I'd been staying there a few days and I found out someone got to go who wasn't even checked in yet...Just think you should be real sure.

Otherwise, I think it's way too much stress to move from GF to AKL that early (unless by being early risers you mean 4 am or something). :confused3

Yes, I'm sure. You do have to check in, so technically you are a guest too. The early bird (making the SS reservation) gets the worm.

I'm also thinking it may be too much. Thanks for confirming my thoughts on the matter.

Lori, I totally understand your dilemma, especially if you don't have your own transportation.

I guess it all depends on how you want to schedule your day. If you are planning on doing MK for a few hours in the morning, taking a break and then going back for EMH, this is what I would do. Request a late check out from the GF. Usually it's 1pm. Pack up all your luggage for the transfer but keep the bathing suits behind. They are easy enough to throw in a backpack. Call bell services for the luggage transfer and head into the MK until noon. Come back and grab a bite to eat from the lounge and change into bathing suits. Officially check out of the GF. Swim and relax until at least 2pm. When you're ready, get changed and either take a taxi over to the AKL or hop onto the monorail to the MK entrance (not the TTC) and walk straight ahead until you get to the resort bus stop. By now, your room is probably ready and your luggage would be on it's way also. This will give you time to get settled, have a bite to eat and then head back into MK for that EMH.

We stayed at an Epcot resort recently and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the bus transportation worked out. Because we've stayed on the monorail line for so many years, I didn't even realize that they no longer drop you at the TTC, but deliver you right to the entrance of the MK. It's really convenient.

Yes, you can do the SS the same day you check in. I've done it myself, though the day before I was checked into a regular savannah view room so it was just a lobby trip to change my status for the remainder of our trip.
