Thoughts on different touring philosophies

I think you just described us! Sometimes we go to the park and only ride 1-2 rides. We spend the rest of the day hanging out, enjoying the scenery and many times meeting new friends. I think its the annual pass. We've ridden everything at least 20 times, so we hit our favorites and that's about it. We go about 20 - 25 days a year so many of our must do's now are not rides, but restaurants (or lounges :). We love the staff at the WL club level. I'm pretty sure they already have a glass of wine ready for me when I step off the elevator.

I feel like I'm a fairly even split across all 3.

  • Commando - I plan everything to the extreme and aim for rope drop. I use touringplans.com and easywdw.com to get a decent idea of which attractions I'll visit and when.
  • Spontaneous - I try to space things out so we're not truly in full-on Commando mode. If my plans don't work out, or my group can't quite keep up, I'll adjust my expectations and my plans.
  • Resort - I like to stay at nice resorts (only at a discount) and schedule afternoon breaks on long days to return to the resort. I book table service meals for all dinners, and set aside ample time so we can relax and enjoy them.
