We are staying at Caribbean Beach in May, and I'm interested in your opinions. This is the only Moderate resort we haven't stayed at.

In the past, we have stayed away after seeing very long lines for shuttles leaving the parks. It will just be myself and my husband, we don't have kids, so we move quickly through The World. Thoughts/reviews of CBR? Thanks in advance!

:beach: CBR is one of my favorite resorts! Any resort can have a long bus line, don't get hung up on that. Transportation times seem to even out as no resort is close to everything.

Have a great vacation pixiedust:

I loved CBR. Like you, we had tried the other moderates and really liked them all. I would gladly go back there.

CBR is lovely! We always had wonderful trips staying at CBR. Never had problems with transportation. The walk across the bridge to the main pool & food court is lined with beautiful flowers. I love the landscaping at CBR!:woohoo::thumbsup2 Have a wonderful time!

CBR is the only mod we've stayed at and we loved it. All resorts have their share of transportation issues and everyone has different experiences. With that said, during our stay, we found the buses to be quick and efficient with little waiting. CBR is a beautiful resort and I think you will have a great time.

CBR is the first wdw resort we stayed in. I loved our Jamaica location. The grounds are beautiful. Also enjoyed those hammocks on the beach :)

Great, thanks for the input! I got a little spooked by some negative reviews on TripAdvisor, so glad to hear so much positive about CBR! The negative reviewers are probably the same crazy people who yell at CMs and character handlers. Lol.

My husband and I stayed at CBR without kids last year and we really enjoyed it. We previously stayed at all of the other mod resorts and several of the deluxe resorts. I was also nervous about staying at CBR. The food court is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. We did not upgrade to a preferred room so our view was nothing special (parking lot) but overall we were very happy.

You will love the CBR.

The food court is fantastic! The pool is great with a poolside cabana bar. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It seems that there is always some beautiful lake or palm tree or something right around every corner. It is spread out, so if you are okay with walking, i think you will love it!!!!!!

Oh boy. I have never yelled at a CM or character handler:crazy2:. However, CBR is my least favorite moderate, and I have stayed at all of them. It was just way too big for me. 7 bus stops is a lot! I felt like we spent a lot of time driving around the resort to all of the bus stops.

I also didn't care for the food court much.

CBR is beautiful, and if I got a great rate I would stay there again. So even though it isn't my favorite, it isn't like it is the pit of all Disney resorts. It just didn't fit me, if that makes sense.

I really loved CBR. We got a pirate room and it was fantastic :D. We loved the beds and so did my kidlet. I like the food, and I love the walk around the lake to get there. I loved the little lizards in september, I chased them in my wheel chair. I wanted to take them all home. I loved CBR so much its the moderate we're offering to our guests. It was our first Disney trip together.

We were gonna stay at CBR on our upcoming trip but after reading so many negative reviews we switched back to Port Orleans which has always been our favorite. After reading reviews about all the resorts we found CBR had the most consistent complaints about dirty rooms, not so great food court, too big of a resort, uncomfortable beds, long bus lines and long travel times for buses due to the many many bus stops etc.... after reading multiple posters complain about these same issues, we decided to avoid CBR. Port Orleans barely every has any complaints on these boards about anything. :thumbsup2

CBR is our favorite moderate. The laid back atmosphere is such a nice change of pace from the craziness of the parks. The food court has plenty of yummy options and laid out nicely. The grounds are beautiful. We like strolling around the lake.

Every village has it's own bus stop so you're never far from one. The main pool is our sons favorite. Because of the layout it never feels crowded, even when it's at capacity.

Our rooms have always been clean and mousekeeping took good care of us. We've recommended friends and family and all have come back as enamored as we are.

I think you'll love it!

we hated it.
walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in other rooms.
we also had a problem being locked out that took a long time to fix but you can search my post history to read about it.

we stayed at POR first and felt it was MUCH better.

We are staying there for the first time at the end of August and I'm looking forward to it. We stayed at POR last time and liked it alot as well but want to try different places. I have to say that I've read negative things for just about every resort on Disney and I've read great things about them as well. I have to say there were times when we waited quite a while for buses to and from POR but things like that don't bother us to much. I've also read people who say POR is to large (I think CR is only a bit bigger) but honestly we don't mind walking and frankly if you can't walk to a bus stop on your resort how are going to walk around the parks all day? I'm not saying for those people with moblity problems or have to deal with a stroller etc. but just the regular person. For me I was really drawn to the look of the place as it looked relaxing and lots of green spaces (I'd tried to talk myself into a value and just couldn't because not enough green for me and over the top Disney for DH) and not way to much Disney as you go to the parks for that. I guess you have to see if it speaks to you and if it doesn't then go to one of the resorts you've enjoyed in the past. I have to say the only negative thing about CR is the fact there aren't queen beds but even that's not the end of the world and certainly doable for a week.
I've stayed at 5 star hotels that are a whole lot of money that have been terrible with bad service etc. and I'm fairly easy going about most things but I think the point is you can have good or bad no matter where you stay. Also you didn't hear me say this but some people complain way to much about stuff they shouldn't! Go with your gut and just enjoy what you pick. :yay:

This exactly. And we are not yellers either. ;)

We would actually stay at a value before staying at CBR again, but if it came down to the only way of going to Disney is staying a CBR...we'd do it. Just not our favorite. But, as you can see, lots of people love it. You'll be fine! :thumbsup2

Love, Love, Love CBR!:thumbsup2 It's the only mod that we have stayed at. We've stayed at all the values but CBR is our favorite!! We've stayed there 4 times and hope to stay for the 5th time in July! We did visit the other mods and they are beautiful but we just love the theming better at CBR, that's why we keep going back. We've stayed in Jamaica on all of our visits and it isn't far at all from the main pool or food court. Probably a 5-7 minute walk, which is a beautiful walk across the bridge. The buses are fine, they could be good and bad at all the resorts and the multiple stops do not bother us. Have a magical vacation!!:)

Also you didn't hear me say this but some people complain way to much about stuff they shouldn't! Go with your gut and just enjoy what you pick. :yay:

Really? Why did you have to add this? What I find important in a resort may be different than what you find important, and that is ok! Not sure why you felt the need add that little dig to what was up to that point a well stated opinion.

Btw, as far as number of rooms POR/CBR are almost even. But when it comes to number of bus stops CBR had 3 more than POR. So if you get on at the first stop at POR you only have to sit through 3 mores stops. At CBR you would have to sit through 6 more. That is way too many for me. It may not be too many for you. Again, we may not all agree on what is important at a resort. But we are all free to have our own opinions.

Agree. CBR is beautiful, but the bus ride around the resort seems interminable. And I have never yelled at a CM nor do I complain about much. A day at CBR is better than a day at work anytime, but I would still stay at any of the moderates or value resorts before CBR again. Maybe someday I will be able to stay at a deluxe.

My very first Disney resort stay was with my Dh and dd just 1 yr old at CBR. We went back 2 more times in the following 6 years. We had also tried some others too. Then at my 35th resort stay my now dd17 and I did a mom n me trip last May at CBR. She loved napping in the hammocks every afternoon and taking a walk across the island to the food court, liked she remembered as a little one. I only have good things to say about the resorts if you ever read what I post! However, this resort will always be special because of the memories we made that first trip and also the ones that followed. I love the island theming! The cast members have always been friendly and I never have problem with busses.
Hope you have a great memory making trip:goodvibes
