Thoughts from a First Time Disney Cruiser

LOL--see, if I had done the race, there definitely would have been complaining from me! My DH and boys are oblivious to time :sad2:. Makes for good times when we are at WDW stuck in a stand-by line and I have no one to commiserate with:P

Ok gross about the pool. I've been kind of avoiding the subject just because while I'd hope parents would be considerate of the other passengers, I know better. I have little faith in humanity left, I'll be honest. Hopefully we'll escape without a code brown because we're going at kind of an off time.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the 5K. My brother and my SIL want to do it, but maybe they'll change their tune after hearing that. Not that I have anything against them doing it if they really want to. I just kind of figure they may want to actually spend time with their kids on the beach.

Yeah, it is pretty gross. I would hope that it is just a kiddo who is tired and has an accident, but I'm not sure that really is the case. As for the 5K, my husband did like running it, but it really was a hurry up and wait scenario. If you know that going in, then it might not be too bad.

thanks so much for sharing! did you have the main seating or later? and did that work out well for you and kids? I will be on my first cruise with a 9, 6 and 5 yr old this summer and currently have main seating.

We did have main dining, and it was wonderful. My kids were definitely ready for dinner by 5:45, so we would head back to the room around 4:30 (even earlier when they were tired) to take showers and get ready. We also had some movie time in the room, and sometimes naps were taken. After dinner, we would find a few things to do around the ship, including taking character pictures. We then either went to a show, did Midship Detective Agency, or the kids wanted to go to the kids club. On Pirate Night, we stayed up for fireworks, and on the last night we got a late night snack on the pool deck and then went down for the See Ya Real Soon farewell. We didn't stay for the whole thing, but we at least got 1 last picture with Captain Mickey. Honestly, I didn't regret one thing about main dining, as it gave us the opportunity to go back to the room if necessary and if someone needed to go to bed a little early (they definitely did the first night). Have a wonderful time!!

Ha! I wish my kids were like that! They just kept complaining that they couldn't go on the slides until their dad was there, because my 3 year old was too short to go and I really couldn't abandon him on the beach :)

It is miserable on a sea day when it happens. All the kids in the pool head to the Nemos reef and they are too rough and there are just too many of them running around to make it nice for the little ones.

It is always the few that dont follow the rules that make the rest of us suffer.

Ha! Love the emoji :) Unfortunately, Nemo's reef closed as well, so there must have been an accident there since I saw them cleaning it. So, two pools and Nemo's reef down, the line for Aquaduck (and ice cream) was crazy

Ugh, I can only imagine!!

With regards to the race thing...as a 5k turned 1/2 turned full marathon runner...from RunDisney all the way to the top marathon producers like ACTIVE...it ALWAYS takes for friggin ever...I feel like we stand at the start line for an hour at every single race...and lets not forget the hours of advance arrival. I don't know what the cause of the delay is...but every single race, run, walk for a cause has had an annoying amount of pre-race lingering.

Just a comment on the 5k and Castaway in general. You really should visit Castaway on one of the Classic ships. It is amazing the difference that 1,400 less people can make. The 5k goes much faster on the Magic than it did on the Fantasy...

Swim diapers are not allowed in the pools so if the lifeguards saw them, they would ask the children to immediately exit the pool, so parents leave them off gambling the kids won't have an accident.

oh so gross! I wonder how many of those non potty trained kids are peeing in the pool. I never thought about till now. UGH!
