We've already replaced it once ($150.00 :( ) when he put it in his pants pocket-he said he took it out to eat and forgot it was in there, then sat down and cracked it in half. well it was missing again today. Of course we found the empty case:rolleyes: My other son ended up finding it under a seat cushion of the couch in our den:eek: luckily no cracks in it, but I told DS next time he has to pay for the replacement ( he's 16 ). Anyone else have trouble with kids and their retainers?

Yes! There is nothing worse than a lost retainer, especially when the dog chews it to pieces:rolleyes: not once but twice and then a third it got bent somehow.

DS 16 only wears it at night now, so it's been from his mouth to the soak dish and no problems!

Tell your son my DS said he feels his "pain of the hunt" for the retainer!

I'm 17 and I thought I lost mine yesterday. I took it out when I was going to the mall, and when I came home I couldn't find it. I found it on the couch, not in its case. Ew lol. So far I haven't actually lost it though.

This is gross, but...when my DDs (14 & 12) FINALLY got around to cleaning out their room and closet recently  they found a retainer on the floor of their closet under a pile of stuff. Who knows how long it was there  or who it belonged to...none of my kids ever had one!

When I was a kid I had retainers. At lunch I used to set it just inside my lunchbag out of everyone's view. One time I forgot and threw it in the garbage can with the bag.
By the time I thought of it, it had already gone to the school incinerator. The janitor tried to pick around for it, but...it was gone.
I remember going to the principal's office and calling my mom to tell her the news. I was shocked that she didn't get mad and yell at me.
The dentist replaced it for a fraction of the original cost.

Just had a kid throw her's in the trash yesterday at school! The janitor was going through the trash looking for it. ewwwwww...I would have put the bag aside, called the parents and let them look.
