Those who've had swine flu

We just got Isaiah home. His fever broke around 10 this morning, so they wanted to make sure he was keeping the fluids down. The took him off the IV and gave him solids again. He's been doing great all day. He asked for Mickey D's on the way home, so that's always a good sign!

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.:goodvibes

That is good news to hear your son came home already. Continued good thoughts that he keeps improving quickly! :goodvibes

I had this flu for nearly two weeks. I have really bad asthma..and was worried about getting it. It kinda just happens.. i was out with my Mom then i said..gosh i don't feel so good i need to go home. My Dad felt my head and said you have Fever!

I had fever that just would not go away. It hurt all over and I couldn't eat much of anything. I also threw up some. Finally when I thought, I guess I'm going to have to go to the hospital, I woke up the next morning without the fever. It was such a welcomed relief.

I will admit it, I was weak for days and days afterwards.

The hardest part was Not being able to be with my loved ones. My husband never got it, Thank Goodness.

I hope you all and your family members are getting better each day.:flower3:

i was reading through this thread and was so glad to see that your ds is home and doing better!
scary stuff....

My daughter-in-law had it. She's a teacher and caught it at school.
She tested positive and took the tamiflu which helped but she said
she still felt very tired and weak. What surprised me is they put her
daughter, my grandaughter, who is two on the tamiflu also even though she had no symptoms of illiness. I'm not sure I agree with this as she wasn't showing any signs of being sick and after reading some of these threads where the tamiflu is not being prescribed at all, it confuses me even more!:confused3:confused3

After the crazy week I've had with my DS11, I wake up this morning, and my DD14 is running a fever of over 102! I called the doctor and made an appointment first thing. She doesnt have the medical history her brother has with asthma, so this shouldnt be a repeat of Isaiah.

I also have a DS7. He is the only one in the family who has had the flu shot. His doctor gave him the last flu shot in his office last Friday. Is my baby boy in the clear? Or is it too early to tell?

Yikes. That doesn't sound so good. I know you want to stay home but I'm kind of hoping your sis encourages you to go to the Dr. Better safe than sorry and from what I hear this thing can take a bad turn quickly. I hope you are feeling much better asap:flower3:

Sis made me go to Urgent Care yesterday. MY albuterol inhaler wasn't working, every time I tried to inhale it, I coughed it right back out immediately. She gave me a nebulizer treatment of albuterol, but within 10 minutes it was clear it wasn't enough. I've been through nursing school, so am always torn between feeling like an idiot running off to the dr, haha. So went anyway. Gotten taken back immediately. Fever gone, but legs ACHE relentlessly. Minor stuffiness in the nose. Could only breathe really shallowly or I had to cough, and often had to grunt to exhale *VERY EMBARASSING*.

Got another breathing treatment there (Xopenex), and several prescriptions. NO flu test, no chest xray...but got a Zpack, prednisone, and something for cough. Started everything last night, and NO chest tightness today at all. Just a whopping, productive cough after every dose of the inhaler. EWWW.

I don't know how states know what their influenza rates are...I still don't know a single soul who was tested. A school nearby was closed yesterday due to overwhelming illness, but nobody was tested so they have "no information" on what the illness is. ANd dd11 reported wednesday that out of her 8 teachers, SIX were absent on wednesday.

GOSH, I wish they would get H1N1 vax available for us, so I could decide what to do. I swear, by the time they get it here, we'll all have had it.

Oh no! I hope she feels better quickly. Glad your DS is doing better! That must have been scary.

I am assuming your DS7 got the seasonal shot last Friday, since the H1N! shot was not out yet (only the mist). He would not be protected against H1N1 (the swiney hini) if that is the case. Good luck!
