I'll be w/my company 19 years this June. We get two weeks for the first 15 years, then three weeks after 15 years, and four weeks at 20 years. We can accrue two years' worth of vacay, but I haven't done that in a long time. In addition to vacation, we get 40 hours personal/sick time (manager's discretion), and we can offset time, so if I do 36 hours in 4 days, I can take 4 hours off on Friday - although that is supposed to be an exception, not the rule. We get Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and two days at Thanksgiving. We also get the year-end shutdown, which is a minimum of one week, and when Christmas & New Years fall on the right days (like this last year), with a couple of days of vacation, we can get the whole two weeks off. We can also buy a week's vacation, and I do that every year. They take out a certain amount each week, and we pay off that vacation usually in the middle of November. Whatever we don't use is paid back to us in December, so I either get extra vacay time or extra $ at year-end. Both are good.
We have sites all over the US, and with the exception of El Segundo, CA, they all work the 4-9-4, where they work 9 hours for 4 days, and 4 hours the 5th. So, they only work 4 hours every Friday. For the employees who start their days at 5 or 6am, they're already off work by 9/10 am. (lucky folks) We had to vote here in CA, and the hourly folks were sure management was trying to cheat them out of overtime, so they voted these hours down..... bummer.
