Those who work outside of the home..how many weeks of vacation?

WOW!! May I ask where you work? Or if that's too much, is this a national company or just a local one? And what sector? That's a really great vacation package! Are the rest of your benefits that good, too?

My husband has unlimited sick days. He just has to use discretion. My husband might be sick one day or want to take a day off for personal reasons and he can do it. They know that he works 60 hours a week or more and gets his job done so they don't care.

I get 5 wks vacation

12 paid holidays

24 wks full sick pay
15 wks half sick pay

I really like the company I work for.

I worked in a churc daycare that followed the school calendar. We didn't get paid days we didn't work....so the holidays hurt us. We did get 5 sick days a year, though. [/B]

that always made me mad at my kids daycare. The staff didn't get paid for the time off, but the parents still had to pay for the whole week, even though the center was closed. I didn't mind paying for the day they were closed IF they were going to pay the staff, but come on, they don't make that much anyway and missing a days pay really hurt them.

I get 2 weeks of paid leave and then take as much as I want without pay, DH gets 26 days of annual, 10 holidays and 104 hours of sick leave a year.

I get 3 wks of vacation till my 10 yr mark...then I'll have 4. 11 or 12 paid holidays(this includes the fact that we're closed from Christmas Day till January 2nd every year). 2 floating holiday and no limit to personal/sick time as long as we don't abuse it.

I work for the State of NH....I accrue 1 1/4 days a month (= 15 work days/year) of vacation leave. I accrue the same amount of sick leave. Also a couple of "floating holidays" each fiscal year which have to be used or lost. And if you use 3 or less days of sick leave a year you get 4 "bonus" days to use the following fiscal year. So after a good year health-wise for myself and my family, I would have a good four weeks worth of "fun" time off the following year.
The vacation accrual goes up to 1 1/2 days per month after 10 years I think....then again after 15 and 20.........but I doubt I'll last that long ;). We also get 10 paid holidays.
It's a generous package, as is the health plan...offsets the low pay scales.

I get 4 weeks vacation, 2 floating holidays and 6 paid holidays. I have been with the company for 15 years. DH has 3 weeks vacation and the same 6 paid holidays. He's been with the company for 10 years. We work for the same company. I write my departments schedule and when we want vacation time I just tell his supervisor when DH needs off. I only have 3 weeks left for this year since DD and I drove out to California the first of the year while DH was out working in Orange County.

3 weeks vacation including holidays and sick days
1 week continuing education (vacation but you have to attend classes)
That's what I got the first year; don't expect it to increase

4 weeks accumulated annual leave; after 15 years this goes up to just over 5 weeks. Up to 6 weeks can be carried over to the next year. I tend to carry over 2 weeks.
2.5 weeks accumulated sick leave, can be carried over
10 holidays
I work a compressed schedule and have every other Monday off.

I'll be w/my company 19 years this June. We get two weeks for the first 15 years, then three weeks after 15 years, and four weeks at 20 years. We can accrue two years' worth of vacay, but I haven't done that in a long time. In addition to vacation, we get 40 hours personal/sick time (manager's discretion), and we can offset time, so if I do 36 hours in 4 days, I can take 4 hours off on Friday - although that is supposed to be an exception, not the rule. We get Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and two days at Thanksgiving. We also get the year-end shutdown, which is a minimum of one week, and when Christmas & New Years fall on the right days (like this last year), with a couple of days of vacation, we can get the whole two weeks off. We can also buy a week's vacation, and I do that every year. They take out a certain amount each week, and we pay off that vacation usually in the middle of November. Whatever we don't use is paid back to us in December, so I either get extra vacay time or extra $ at year-end. Both are good.

We have sites all over the US, and with the exception of El Segundo, CA, they all work the 4-9-4, where they work 9 hours for 4 days, and 4 hours the 5th. So, they only work 4 hours every Friday. For the employees who start their days at 5 or 6am, they're already off work by 9/10 am. (lucky folks) We had to vote here in CA, and the hourly folks were sure management was trying to cheat them out of overtime, so they voted these hours down..... bummer.

We get New Years Day, Martin Luther King day, Lincolns Birthday, Washingtons Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas....we have the option to take off or to work if we want for double time and a half....I usually take New Years, Thanksgiving, 4th of July and Christmas off and work the rest since it works out to like 50.00+ an hour to work the holidays...
