Those who have moved to FL - how did you do it?

We've always thought it would be so nice to live in Florida. Away from the snow and someplace we would see the sun everyday.

Well, the more we think about it & talk about it - we really want to make this "dream" a reality. I know I've read about a lot of DISers moving down the the Sunshine State. How did you all do it?

Do you sell your home & move into an apartment/condo until you can find a house in FL? What about jobs? Is there a good way to search for jobs out of state? We would love any advice or info anyone could give us - this is definitely a longer-term plan (hopefully in the next 2-3 years, or so.)

I moved here in Dec. 03. I put my house on the market and came to WDW for a vacation. While I was here I scouted areas where I thought I might want to live.

The week after we got home the house sold. I came down to Orlando for a long weekend. I looked at 30 houses that weekend and our dream home was house 25.

We bought the house in FL and moved in less than 30 days. It was a scramble or a mad rush but we did it. We had two good snows before I moved and I didn't miss the snow once I moved here.
