Those who have cruised RCCL, please help!

Even though RCCL probably won't turn your sister and her family away, from my experience RCCL has a much higher percentage of people who dress up for formal nights. Most men are in dark suits and probably 15-25% are in tuxes. Most women are in cocktail type dresses with maybe 25% in formals (i.e. long glitzy type dresses). It was much more formal than DCL's formal nights.

As for babies, I don't think you will have a problem. No, there will not be near the amount of children as on DCL unless you are travelling during a school break or summer. However, there was a baby (6 months) travelling with a group that sat near us when we went to Alaska and everyone made a total fuss over her the entire time (good type fuss!!!)

Loretta - I sent you a PM.

I was in a family oceanview stateroom on Navigator in Nov 03 and LOVED IT.

You wont be disappointed!!

Hello,

I wanted to share my thoughts on RCCL. I think they are in general a family friendly line, and I am cruising the Mariner as well this Feb 22nd.

Also bear in mind that the placement of Mariner at port canaveral will make it an even more family friendly ship then her sisters . The reason being the proximity to Orlando, the family vacation mecca.

I think the Mariner is competing for dcl's clientelle, along with the carnival glory. My husband and I prefer DCL, but their pricing is so much higher, and we have a family of 5 , that we cannot ignore the savings and high quality RCCL will offer.

Just my 2 cents

Good point, we are traveling the week of Spring Break so I am sure there will be kids on board, lots of them. I feel much better now.....thanks yet again.

I looked at the pictures and I think that is a neat way to add a little twin bed with a little privacy so little ones can sleep without the lights/etc. interrupting their sleep. It looks just like the arrangement we have in our travel trailer- except ours is like bunk beds- imagine that picture exactly but add another twin bed up higher above it... with curtain and everything- that's exactly how the bunks are in our TT. They should do that there (add another twin bed up top) so you can fit 2 children there. LOL
