Those who completed the Quest

They should have had a quest that would be more "doable" for the intended age group of VMK. Quests should not be as difficult as this one was, and should be attainable by all who are willing to do quests. Yes, I understand they want it to be exciting and yet still have people work for obtaining some items, but they should be reached without the frustration, headaches, heartbreaking feelings that these types of quests are causing. I was excited to think there would be a treasure hunt, now I group this with the frustration for people of the "Dream/Nightmare Moon." Perhaps the quest could have been broken up more instead of one quest for all items then multiple mini quests for smaller group of items.

Do I normally want items released for sale from quests? Sometimes yes because we can't always be there at those times. Sometimes no because if the quest is in the Q button for an extended time like a month or more, people should have the time and earn those. This time it is a definite yes because VMK was so unfair (lag, long lines for potc, dc/crash issues, etc) especially to the kids, in this quest. :sad2:

And yes, I and our group of caring and loyal friends finished this one. :grouphug: We assisted others as we could, I was bouncing around from various rooms for hints/questions about the potc battle plans to POTC games to ghosts to loaning my Bat Magic to friends. If I did not have to go to work today, I would have tried helping more this morning.

One thing they might consider if they ever do this again is, instead of just the mega-quest and the "single use" magic "cute little quest" have a third that is somewhere between the two in difficulty and prizes.

For example, the middle-tier quest could have had a mix of questions and tasks that would have been a bit easier to do with only a few of the prizes (e.g., multi-use lightning magic, 10,000 credits, pirate chest, pirate piano, minnie ears or the silver ears). A mid-level quest would have taken some of the stress off those players who had trouble with the big quest but still given them something special to reward them for their efforts.

VMK, when you evaluate this event and consider if you want to run it again, please give some thought to this idea. After all, in the room building events, you often tier the prizes so that the grand prize winner gets the mother load, the "honorable" mentions get some of the goodies, and the participants get a little something.

If any of this stuff goes for sale within the next six months, I'll be very irritated. That was a lot of work for stuff to be available so soon. After six months or so, I won't care because I will have had my time to enjoy them.

(That thought also holds true for the red space suit, VMK ;) ;) )

How would you feel if each of the items that were awarded ended up for sale in the next few weeks?

Be honest....

Personally - I do hope they are awarded another way (sooner rather than later).

Opinions?

It sure would make my son happy. lol I took so long I couldn't even get his quest going.

I would like to see these items released for sale--sooner rather than later. I would love to see these released before greedy people take advantage of kids who were not able to complete the quest, but really want something as cool as TDM.

Actually, what I'd really like to do is see them rerelease the quest for TDM only with numbers for the games that are a bit more reasonable and a month to complete it.

I personally would not mind. The only thing that angers me is when vmk releases items that you would have to obtain either by purchasing pins or going to the park to do the quest. To me totally different as it is my out of pocket cash going to vmk where if I had waited could of gotten for free.

This just took my time which is time I would of spent on vmk anyways. (in one week :happytv: )

Hopefully the full use TDM items will have deflation because everyone keeps using them.

I hope everything gets released soon as well. Alot of people worked real hard and unfortunatly missed out, I think they all deserve a chance to buy the items. As bad as the whole experience was doing the pirates thing I found one bright side. I met a bunch of DIS people and made some new friends. It was really great to see people join together to help others.

I don't know if I qualify to answer as I didn't complete quest. But I didn't even try for myself, a team did get my daughter through, and I did play hours and hours of pirates as a duck.
I think that it would be nice if SOME of the prizes become available in a variety of ways, but not all at once, and not all buyable. Like the Lightening magic as an expensive buyable. Maybe the umbrella as a normal host quest prize. Now, I do like those silver ears and that treasure magic, but if they were not tradeable, I think it would be great if that became your special reward for making it through. It is when things become such a high demand rare item and no other way to get it that I get frustrated.

I would love if they came for sale
I dont feel if they came out, my quest would be diminished, after all I got 75 grand from the quest, as well as the other stuff.
I love the tot magic, so I want that to come out a lot

I would like everything made buyable or make a more reasonable quest. I did get through the quest with a lot of help, but was crushed when so many of my friends couldn't get past mansion because of crashing, or jungle cruise because of the high score. Broke my heart that these people tried for an entire weekend and failed so close to the end. I wish vmk would take a lesson from all of their previous mistakes, but we all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

My Honest Answer:

I would be thrilled if we could buy some of the items.

Yes, I spent three days working on that quest to finish. I neglected my family and work to do it. But my youngest daughter didn't even start and a very dear friend of mine logged on this afternoon only needing to complete the last four tasks, only to find out it was over. My heart goes out to you and I cried for you.:sad1:

I would love for these people to be able to get these items somehow, even if it means selling them.

This would not bother me at all!

Buyable would be wonderful! I was never in this to be getting rich, just wanted to be able to have new toys. I would love for these to be available to everyone that was not able to complete the cruelest tasks. I feel bad for the people who have been let down.

PS- I feel the same way about the Castle room. I did not get it and hope one day that I might get the chance to own it.

I was able to complete and I would love for it all to be sold. I will always have my "i did it" It was such a stretch for me to get 45,000 in Jungle cruise and the sence of satisfaction that I did it was my reward. I had a freind offer to do Jungle Cruise for me but I decided to do it myself. (My highest score before yesterday was 32,000 in that game)

I wish so much others can have a chance at the things. I never had time for my kids or grand daughter to get anything in the quest so I plan to share with them like we do my inferno.

I'd be happy if the prizes were released again. I'm postive we'll see lightning magic again sometime soon.
I propose that every year we have just one insanely hard quest like that, except a little easier. I think there shouldn't be too many prizes, maybe credits, a nontradeable pin, and a couple of rare or new items.

My first instinct would be outraged because I worked so hard to get these items... And then I realize just how many people didn't get the items because it was nearly impossible...

Yeah, I'd be ok if the items were on sale.

I agree with Pirate.I would feel the same initially but really, more people should get the chance to have these items.:)

However,I feel like Minnie, silver ears or TDM will not be on sale anytime soon.

I am of the opinion everyone in game should be able to obtain everything with a reasonable amount of effort. I've always thought that way, and this is no different. The effort required for this quest was very unreasonable. However, I see the other side of this too. I know many people would be right ticked off if they spent three + days straight on the computer and then everything was sold for 500 credits or so (magic aside) right away. I'd be more than a little annoyed myself if this Friday rolled around and everything was for sale; that'd be 2 days of my life I will never get back that I could have not spent in VMK from dusk til dawn. I could care less about the stuff being rare; I just don't want to feel like I wasted my time for nothing. Those who didn't quite make it would have essentially wasted all that time too. To me, time is more precious than any prize.

The best compromise I can think of is make all the prizes available to everyone in some way or another (be it DMR codes, later easier quest prizes, for sale, Host prize, etc.), and then create a new pin for those who did complete the quest, so everyone who did would have their own badge of determination, luck, and teamwork that it took most of us to achieve it. Nothing too exciting, just have it say something like "VMK's Biggest Quest Winner." That way everyone gets all the goodies and (ideally) those who did win the items in the quest would still have something to show for their victory. Just a thought. :wizard:

This wasn't just about time for me. It also wasn't about getting rich. I just like to collect at least 1 of everything in VMK (which will probably never happen).

My main problem was all the stress. The stress to get everything done and get as many people through in only 4 days.
I'm still feeling the after effects on my body from the stress of the weekend.

Now some people want VMK to start selling these items this week. To me, that would just be VMK saying "Haha, we put you through all that stress for nothing".

While I would love to see people get an opportunity to get these items, I don't want to see that any time soon.

To those camparing this to Dreams month, not even close. Dreams month was not at all stressful for me. After all, there was an entire month to try to get stuff. This time, there was only 4 days to complete a nearly impossible quest. And two of those days were working/school days.

And those people saying the credits were more than enough of a prize? Not by a long shot. Sorry. This thing was asking for nearly impossible scores in POTC in only 4 days.
If I really only wanted 75K in credits, I could take my time to build them up. I've done it before. I can do it again. In fact, my main character has had more credits in the past than I do now after completing the quest.
In fact, in total, I still have less than 300K (on all characters) when right before halloween, I had almost 400K.

I was really doing the quest for those items that I believed would not be available for a long time if ever again.
Although, like others, I do see the Lighting magic being for sale soon and maybe the umbrella as a host prize.

I could care less if the items are release personally.
It was a tough quest and I beat it and I am proud of THAT not of the items I aquired.
Sure it is nice to have items that not many have but with all the problems it is causeing and all the hostility what good is it?
I am at the point where I don't even WANT to wear my silver ears.
