If you purchased the new discounted tickets either through Airmiles or direct from Disney, can you let us know your experience with upgrading these tickets to park hoppers?

I know others have reported back but I'm just wondering if any of this changes as a result of the new tickets with different American pricing and options?

Please be as specific as possible (Disney math!). I have been reading conflicting reports over on the Theme park strategies board about people being told different things by different CM's. It would be good for others here to have a calculation in hand (that they know works)when they go to upgrade their own tickets.

Thanks.

FOLLOWING THIS THREAD!

In the meantime, this is what I found out from previous threads.

The following info is based on info from a poster who tried to upgrade PRIOR to the FEBRUARY 28, 2017 deadline
(PRIOR to the Canadian 25% Discount deadline). The poster's trip was in January 2017 I "think".

The poster reported being offered USD$251 value (on a 5 Day Adult Park Hopper/Canadian Discounted Ticket) to be used as credit towards upgrading to an Annual Pass ($599 at that time) when she inquired at the Parks Ticket Booth.

Again ... this occurred PRIOR to the FEBRUARY 28, 2017 deadline. Please note again that this is 3rd party info I'm reporting ... NOT my actual experience.

I emailed Disney and inquired whether or not the Canadian Discounted Tickets could be "upgraded" this summer (ie. AFTER the FEBRUARY 28, 2017 deadline) and what the "upgrade amounts" would be. Unfortunately, I only received an email advising me to call Disney directly and discuss my questions with a Disney Rep.

Therefore, I'll like to add some questions to the OP's original question:

1) Is Disney still allowing "upgrades" of the Canadian Discounted Tickets at the Park Ticket Booths PRIOR to Feb. 28, 2017 deadline?
Experiences reported prior to Feb. 28, 2017 deadline were "yes" when attempted to upgrade to Annual Pass.
What about in the case of "Ticket" upgrades?

2) Does Disney allow "upgrades" of the Canadian Discounted Tickets at the Park Ticket Booths AFTER the Feb. 28, 2017 deadline?
Upgrades to Annual Pass OK?
Upgrades to Ticket OK?

Please advise if anyone can check for this from March 1 onwards.

3) Upgrades AFTER Feb. 28, 2017 deadline: Were you still offered the "Canadian Discounted" value of your ticket?
Example: USD$251 for a 5 Day Hopper / Adult / Canadian discounted ticket?

4) Calculation of Upgrades:

Do we use the following calculation?

CURRENT NEW TICKET PRICES - VALUE of Canadian Discounted Ticket = UPGRADE AMOUNT OWING?

I'm "assuming" that the Canadian Discount will be "lost" since I'm "assuming" that we need to pay the difference to bring the "Value" of the Canadian Discount Ticket "up to" the "Current Value" of the New Ticket Prices.

Note: I'm assuming the "Current Value" of the New Ticket Prices will be slightly "higher" at the Park Gates compared to 3rd Party Retailers who might offer a small discount.

Note: There's the greedy part of me that would like to only pay the upgrade difference based on the "values" of the Canadian Discount Ticket ... meaning this: Value of Canadian Discount Ticket - Value of Canadian Discount Ticket = Upgrade Amount owing :-) but I think this is "wishing" for too much.

Again ... the above are just my "guesses" ... would greatly appreciate it if anyone can report from their "actual" experiences.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!! :-)

Yes. Please. I'm hope by to do this in October and will report back but that's a long wait for most people.

This would make for a very expensive park hopper addition. I'm hoping if all you want to do is add the hoppers they would allow us to simply add on the incremental difference the way it used to be. It's still more money in their pockets.

On another note, what about upgrading older regular tickets (purchased summer 2016)? In the past when I purchased AM tickets I was only charged the value of the park hopper to upgrade. Will we have to pay the increase in ticket price + the park hopper add on now?

I've included this thread here in the Canadian boards because these are two issues related to Canadians (the discounted Canadian tickets and tickets purchased through AM)
