Thoroughly disappointed

Our fam of 5 just went to see Home on the Range. How disappointing! THe images were so flat and... pointy? Like the characters on those Japanese anime type shows like Yu-Gi-O and Pokemon. And they were almost blurry, too. And, I'm sorry, but Roseanne Barr's performance just didn't mesh at all. Her delivery and humor are too adult and sarcastic for the age group involved. My younger son kept asking questions through the whole movie and I had to tell him finally to just hush for a moment and watch. His reply, "But if I don't ask questions, I'll have NO idea what's going on! I don't GET this!" ON the other hand, we adults had figured out in the first 5 minutes the whole saga. It was soo soo predictable -- I had come to expect more from Disney but oh, wait -- maybe that was PIXAR I was thinking about.

Between the dismal state of Disney stores, the status of the battle at the helm of Disney, the rise in ticket prices, the decline in any perks (no Disney Club), I could at least still count on a good movie from Disney. Brother Bear was not one of my favorites, but it had its moments. I honestly cannot say I had any with this flick and am not moooooved in the least bit to buy it -- even on vhs. As a card-carryin' DVC member -- I just hope Disney is headed towards a rebound not a slippery slope down.

Anybody else feel this way?

i agree...big disapointment...and i like going to animated movies...coudlnt wait for this one to get over..

This is the first Disney movie that I have absolutely no interest in going to see ... and I love the Disney animated film. I don't know why I have no interest in it ... it just has no appeal.

DS wants to see it and, if we go, it'll be one we see at the bargain theatre!

It makes me sad.

I read somewhere that the reason no one wants to see it is because it's like a bovine "Golden Girls". Let's face it, cows are not that interesting, especially old lady cows. It just SOUNDS dull. They are not cute or fascinating. I have no desire to see it.

I had no desire to see "Brother Bear" either. I only went to see that because it was at the Dollar Movies and we were out of state visiting in-laws for 2 weeks and the younger one had an ear infection and there was tons of snow and we were bored and desperate to get out of the house.

I talked to a Dad who walked out with his 14 and 11 y.o. DDs because they were so bored by it.

Guess I'm weird, but I enjoyed it ... reminded me of old Saturday morning cartoons ... and my g'kids (ages 7, 8, & 9) also enjoyed it.

Didn't think the "they're real" statement about Maggie's udders was necessary, but it went right over the kids head.

Whew! Glad it wasn't just me. I found myself nodding off several times during the movie. My DD10 enjoyed it though so I guess that is what matters.

I haven't seen Home on the Range yet, but the movie I last saw (I think it was called Teachers' Pet) was a Disney movie and it was HORRIBLE!!! Anyone else see that one?

I loved it. I too was reminded of Sat a.m. cartoons. I have to agree this picture was different style then say.... beauty and the beast....aladin... mermaid . I the enjoyed the flick. I thought the utter joke was weird choice for a children film. Did any one see the hidden mickeys? I caught the ones on the lock that was on the train.

We will not buy this when it comes to DVD. And I'm sure the kids won't even care.

Hi! Took my kids to see Home on the Range. I really thought it lacked the "Disney magic." What was the moral theme? I feel like all of the Disney movies have a moral theme other than good vs bad. Such as Beauty and the Beast...You have to look at the inner beauty of a person. Even Brother Bear has a lesson. I liked Brother Bear.

Oh and I saw Teacher's Pet and that had a LOT of adult humor.
That one was horrible to pay for. I would have not been upset if I had seen it on Saturday morning cartoons because that is where it belongs.

I hope Disney does not follow this path.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but we LOVED this movie. The whole family did!! We laughed from beginning to end and I'm pretty picky about what we watch. I do agree that the udder joke was unneccessary and do wish they'd have used someone other than Roseanne, but overall it was great. We will buy this movie the day it comes out. I can't wait to see it again. My twin 5 yr olds (one boy, one girl) have been quoting the movie all day! :teeth:

No blurry images on the screen we watched and I forgot my glasses! Also, I can't stand animine and it didn't remind me of that at all!! All in all, it was good clean comedy and we LOVED it! :Pinkbounc

I thought that the image was a little blurry, but I wrote it off. DH and I took DD2 to see this. We were disappointed as well. It didn't have that "magic" that we have come to expect from Disney. We saw Brother Bear after we saw HOTR and I enjoyed it. I kept saying to DH, this is so much better than HOTR! Now BB may not be all that great, but those Moose crack me up! I'm not sure what it was with HOTR, but it just lacked something.

It's very sad to hear that this film is doing so horribly.
Just gives the execs an excuse to say " told you so.." and reinforces their decision to no longer produce 2 D animation/ hand drawn films.
Thye have a handful of animators now (for straight to video movies- UGH!) , sold off most of the equipment, and plans to outsource some animation over seas (even worse animation styles/ sloppy work... I like anime.. but the stuff they plan to outsource is NOT going to be anime).

They are building 3D/CGI department of animators - without Pixar.

It's sad that the very start of Disney as a company (hand drawn animation) will no longer exist.
