Thongs on board?

not sure where you are traveling, but we have been to Europe (not on DCL) and seen some pretty interesting things:)

If you are in Barcelona~better believe they will be in bras, thongs and topless!

We are really relaxed/open people, but it was still quite humorous to see the look on our daughter's face:)

I have to tell you that many swimming pools in France don't allow men in the pool in anything other than speedos!! It is a health thing as many men just hang around in their swim shorts as normal shorts and just jump in the pool.

We went to a camp site and my husband and over 30 year old son had to go out and buy them!!! They weren't too happy i can tell you.:lmao: Other, including embarrassed Teens in their swim shorts were told to leave the pool!

I know that speedos are the norm over there, but your experiences are different to mine, so I figured I would share ~ We stumbled across a swimming pool in the mountains in the South of France and my husband swam in his shorts no problem.

Perhaps it was a cultural thing...

Not all pools have the rule fortunately!!!

A gentleman wearing ...

A. Speedos
B. A thong ( boys can wear them too - and it's not a pretty sight)
C. A Borat "Mankini"

In Europe and South America a Speedo IS a male bathing suit. The shorts we wear as swimsuits would look oddly out of place. My Dad is from Spain and I remember sunbathing topless in Spain in my preteen years. It was heavenly:goodvibes

Americans are way too prudish about nudity IMHO. When I was a child it wasn't uncommon to see naked toddlers/preschoolers at the beach, nowadays if a toddler or infant is wearing a 2 piece swimsuit it's considered indecent:confused3

The "Borat" Mankini....hands down. :crazy2:

When I was growing up....late 60's and 70's.....all the guys wore Speedos. We'd never heard of Board Shorts or anything else. But back then, the Speedos offered a little more coverage than they do now. They weren't miniscule.

This is, by the way, probably the funniest thread I've read in a long time!!

on the aug 07 repo there was a lady that wore one everyday by the adult pool.

If I'd only known then how much weight I would gain since my last cruise, I would have worn a thong!! I'm afraid my thong days are now "behind" me.

You talking about on Tortola? I didn't see any of the women topless (didn't look onboard that ship) but I did see plenty of men wearing Speedos on our excursion to Virgin Gorda.

I didn't see it either but my mother heard people yelling at the staff that they should have warned them....:confused3.. my kids just laughed and went on their way.
Yes I saw the speedos everywhere....lol

If you're disturbed by thongs, don't venture too far away from WDW next time you're there. There is a nudist camp called Cypress Cove only about 20 mins. away. I went there with a group of friends once (we did NOT get naked...they were having an art show so members of the general public were allowed to remain dressed). We pulled up in our van and were immediately surrounded by bare ****s and bellies pressed up against the glass. A drunken bunch of people had surrounded the vehicle, thinking we were there for Fantasy Fest (apparently also going on). All they had on were hats and Mardi Gras beads. We escaped them and checked the place out. My favorite was what one of my friends termed the "Porky Pigs" although they could also have been "Donald Ducks"...guys wearing shirts but nothing below. Quite an...er, interesting experience.

Now do you go into a cake shop, and not look at all the cakes!!
It doesnt make you fat just looking,

If you see a nice baby, all women will look at it!!!! Doesn't mean you want to take it home!!!

And when that man in his speedos goes to the pool, tell me honestly do you not look?

;):):rolleyes1

Honestly??? Yes, I look.... but then my eyes hurt for like a week! I then have to wear these....:cool2: LOL:rotfl2:

I usually look, because its like watching a train wreck...its not something you want to see, but the oddity of it makes you look. lol And then I throw up in my mouth a little.

OMG !!! :rotfl: I just peed a little! My thought exactly.... When I see a man wearing a speedo, I throw up a little too! It doesn't matter how great his body looks. Most American women just don't think it looks very masculine. This really has turned into quite a fun thread hasn't it? Doesn't matter what I see when we cruise.... I'll have fun no matter what! If I see a thong wearing woman, or a speedo wearing man... I think I'll just smile and take a ton of pics.... then I'll post them all here for everyone to see.... then we can all come back here for great laughs!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I luv it !!! .... Donald Ducks! :rotfl2:
