how bad was it? (or was it not?) We are thinking about next year but remember the "thundering herd" from two years ago and were just curious to see what it was like this year (last week or two weeks ago).

Thanks!

There are always alot and for us they were not the problem. But we had a Pop warner team in our hotel that just caused problems everywhere they went. We always seemed to ride the bus witht LOT of them. There coaches just seemed to think that disney owed them something. I even saw one coach take the whole team away from the bus stop and walk back towards the hotel and as a bus came he flagged the bus down and asked the driver if they could get on first so that all his player got a seat. Now I am a Football Coach (in Louisiana) and I would have never thought to do that. Is it just me or is that kinda selfish

the only logic I can possibly think of would be that he didn't want his large group seperated, maybe an issue with chaparones to kids & stuff and breaking up the group. Maybe he wanted to "breif them" a bit more about behavior expected in the park, schedules, etc....bu then why wouldn't have have don it while waiting at the stop?

or maybe he was just greedy & rude...who knows!? :D

last time I stayed at the all star sports there was a grad group there, I complained about them a few times late a night when they were outside of their rooms loud as can be.

They were absolutely everywhere. And yes, I did find them annoying, particularly at Pop, where they were staying in our section. There were packs of them in the pool and on the walkways. They were very loud. I will never go back to WDW during Pop Warner week again if I can help it, and if I do have to go at that time I won't be staying at one of hotels they are staying at. :guilty:

I remember reading before we went that you don't really notice them in the parks, but I disagree. I saw them all over the parks, every day of the week. You could tell it was them because the girls would break out into spontaneous cheers :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: , they had their hair 'done' in some unusual ways, and several had 'CHEER' written on their butts in big letters. Many also wore matching shirts with either a Pop Warner or other Cheerleading theme. The footballers weren't quite as annoying (there really didn't seem to be as many), but they tended to travel in packs and you could pick them out because many wore football jerseys and their chaperones often had on t-shirts with a football theme of some sort.

But like I said on another thread, kids that age just annoy me in general, particularly when they're roaming around in packs with little chaperoning. I found that lines for rides weren't really affected by them, as the lines were about the same as when we went in September.

This may sound like I spent a lot of time thinking about them or depressed that they were there, but not really. :smooth: It was a very minor annoyance overall, just one that I would prefer to avoid in the future if at all possible.

I was at ASSports when they were there. Now I am just glad I wasn't in any rooms near them. I was in the Tennis court rooms bldg 5. But they were all over the place, it not like that is bad but it was just crowded.

The pool was crowded, the foodcourt was crowded - even at night. I went out for some pop/soda at the foodcourt one evening and if I were rooming anywhere near them - well lets just say I wouldn't be a happy camper.

As for the parks, I didn't run into many of them at the parks - of course we left on the 7th so maybe we missed the masses.

Would I go during that time of year they are there - sure, have done it in the past. Would I stay where they are staying again. NO NO NO

I only saw them in the parks and in the bathrooms! LOL We were at Shades of Green, so none of them there.

I didn't find them that "annoying" at all while I was down at WDW...however, we did stay at AKL.

The plane ride home...that was another story. Had 3 teams on the plane with us..DH and I kept getting our seat bumped so that they could sit with their mothers, or sit together, or to get them out of exit rows. And those girls TRASHED that plane...I felt so bad for the flight attendent. As we were leaving, she stops us and thanks us again for moving our seats...and I mentioned "good luck cleaning this plane up"...she rolled her eyes and gave me an "I know" look.

but while at WDW...didn't find them to be a problem at all

There was alot of them EVERYWHERE. And you are right they would be walking along and break out into a cheer. It was a bit annoying.

they were on the plane with us--no problem--wonderful and delightful. They were in the parks with us--chaperoned and having fun. They didn't overrun the parks at all. Everyone that i saw seemed fine and i would go back again this time.

While we loved going in early December, I can say I will never go again when Pop Warner is there. We stayed at POFQ and a couple teams also stayed there, but we didn't really notice them. It was the hoards at Riverside that became an issue because we shared buses with them. Luckily POFQ gets picked up first and dropped off first, but when trying to get a bus back from the parks many times it filled up quickly with cheer groups.

We definitely noticed them at the parks too. Mainly MK and MGM and there were ALOT of teams at the MVMCP the night we went. I was also annoyed MGM closed early Friday night for a Pop Warner reception. Had I known that I would have planned MGM for another day.

Maybe I was more aware of them because they were at Riverside though. I don't know if it would have been so noticeable if we were at another resort, but we did get stuck behind large groups of them a few times at rides and counterservice restaurants. It wasn't so much that they were overly loud or obnoxious, but that there were so many in big groups. One night at DTD there were everywhere and would just stop in the middle of walkways to talk or do a cheer, that got on my nerves because it was hard to get around them.

Even though they weren't as bad as I thought they might be, when I spend that much money on a vacation and take the kids out of school purposely to go at a slower time, I'd just rather not deal with large crowds of cheerleaders and football players. Also, Pop Warner seems to be growing...I heard alot more teams went this year than in previous years, so who knows how much bigger it'll get in years to come?

I didn't realize that they closed the park early Friday for Pop Warner people either, until I arrived at the gate and couldn't get in. Had I know I would have planned a little differently.

And the crowds were so bad on Sat night that we couldn't get into the park either. They were not letting anyone into the park until they let out a bunch of people. And they had allot of the main gates blocked off so people couldn't exit the park.

Needless to say we didn't get to see the lights at MGM this year.

I saw a lot at MVMCP on the seventh and at MGM on Friday. I only really noticed the girls. I think because boys don't tend to dress alike. They were all very polite and I had no problems. The only thing I saw was when a bunch got off a bus at DD and we got on, one of them left an almost full orange soda on the floor that spilled everywhere.

They were at POR last weekend, but it was more entertaining than irksome, as the windows were decorated and personalized

LOL....yall are not reading the boards very thouroughly cause I warned yall about MGM on Friday....we made the mistake last year at MGM.....Not this year though...We did stay at Movies this year Toy Story bldg 9...Did not have a problem...We noticed a few groups in the park but nothing major...The only issue I had was in line for ToT there was I assumed a group of football players all around 10-12 year olds...Cussing, hollering sitting on everything, one of them even threw their trash into the landscaping of ToT and a trash can was 5 feet away....This was a group of young black and Hispanic kids not that that mattered at all to me but I am curious if different groups act different....I know if I was to catch my son act like that....OOOOO boy....I even explained to him while waiting behind them that it is terrible behavior and will not be tolerated....Also while on the ride when the doors open they just had to hold there middle fingers up so I could explain that to my son too....So I guess I got a teaching oppurtunity to my son...But other than that no problems....Girls are girls and I sat beside some older women that screamed on rides just as loud...

so dolphindan1 the only Pop Warner teams you saw acting out where young black and Hispanic. Interesting.....the fact that you mentioned it shows that it matters to you!!! Otherwise you would never have mentioned race as a factor. You could have just said young teens. Does racism still exist in America and even at Disney! Sure it does! I am sure others on this board have seen teens of all ethnic backgrounds behave just as badly.

To answer your question NO!!! different groups don't act differently. Teens are teens!!! What an idiot!!!!! That's right! I said idiot!!!

wow...tad harsh

Thats my point and exactly why I brought it up....No it doesnt matter to me at all....It was a curiosity comment and you just started the racial aspect of it but if you want to get into we can...And yes to answer your question that was the only group I saw acting up....As a matter of fact...But I apologize I was not trying to offend anyone by that I was only wondering.....And if you need to know I am sitting right now eating lunch with 3 black guys and one happens to be my best friend for the last 10 years my family and his family are always together....Yes racism is still around and no more than here in SC regrettably....So to anyone I offended I apologize it was a in general question

Thanks for proving my point even more......I apologize to everyone but you....You had to take it and run with it and made it a racial thing and thats exactly why racism will never die....
