I'd like to hear what you are experiencing in terms of flight costs. If flights costs are higher or lower than last year.

I am still hoping our flight prices drop in the next little while for our March Break trip! The last 4 years, the most I have paid is $89 each way! This year, the average is about $160 if not more. We always check flights from Buffalo, Rochester, Flint MI, Grand Rapids MI, Lansing Mi, and Saginaw. They are nuts. We are prepared to drive if necessary. We have 2 full weeks, and are not opposed to a road trip. Do I want to, No, I would prefer to fly. Anybody else having problems finding a reasonable deal on flights this year?

Going Dec 31-Jan 7. Best deal for reasonable (1 stop/decent times) flights was $3100 for the 4 of us all taxes/fees included. I booked in May when it seemed it wasn't going to go much lower. It has gone up ever since. Today our flights are $1750 pp! Ouch!:scared1:

Up from $2800 in 2009 during peak Christmas season.

Not only are the price of the flight more, but there's the addition of baggage fees (at least WJ allows 1 bag free) and the increased taxes. Out of YEG, taxes (aiport improvement fees, fuel surcharge, etc etc) are frequently more then the price of the ticket. $200-$250 in taxes are standard ... just a few years ago the entire cost of a ticket was under $200

I have really noticed the increase for weekend flights out of Buffalo.

I agree....flights are insane!!! :scared1: I am looking at $2,800.00 for 3 tickets with West Jet Sept 28- October 7, 2012.....this is the first year I have had such a hard time finding decent fares. I am hoping that since my window just opened up, I will find the flights I need at least $100.00 cheaper in the next few months!! I don't want to pay over $1,800.00 if I don't have to......$2,000.00 is pushing it, and $2,800???!!! well, my boys may not be able to accompany me if they stay that ridiculous! I agree also that the taxes from Edmonton seem to be much higher this yr. for some reason.....Yes, the leg may say $329 but add taxes on and it is over $500!!!! and that is only 1 way!!!
Insane!!! :scared1:

Have booked Westjet one way to Orlando and Air Canada home for fare and schedule. Total of $457.00 per passenger round trip next month from Toronto. I can live with that price - I paid similar to that for trip in January 2010.

We went in feb 2011 and paid $1350 for 3 from Halifax. We are going the same time in feb 2012 and I was able to get flights for the 3 of us for just over $1000, or $360.53pp including all tax and fees except luggage, but travel with carry ons so that should not affect us. For us the prices have been better this year. Prices I quoted include all taxes and fees.

We are flying from Toronto to Orlando direct on Sunday March 25 - we are paying around $1100 for 3 of us. I thought it was a decent price since flying from the states was less then $100 different.

We are flying on the exact same dates. Our cost for 3 was $1658 taxes included, but that was our flights (non-stop both ways) AND 7 nights hotel in a one-bedroom suite. Flights alone would have been about $1000, and I had a hard time swallowing that price!!! We booked in August.

Last year we paid about $400 from Toronto to Orlando, on Air Canada. This year about $20 more. The cheapest fare we ever got was 3 years ago on Air Transat, Toronto to Orlando $300.

Have not been to Orlando in a while, but your next trip in feb, for the two of use from Vancouver/layover in Toronto/Orlando was just over 1000$ each :(

I fly out of Seattle, and for our Jan 2012 trip I got one of the lowest seat sales I've seen in a few years, $279 RT SEA to MCO incl tax. Usually anything between $300-$325 is pretty good for sale price. The lowest I got was $250 on SW a few years ago. Haven't seen it dip under $300 for my dates in awhile.
You can double it + to fly out of YVR.

Air Canada from Fredericton to MCO is around $7000 for 4. I don't think so! Just started to price hunt from Bangor or Portland ME. Prices are still up there. Fingers crossed that they start to go down.

In all fairness I think people should quote prices taxes in because when you don't it is very misleading especially out of Toronto. Taxes alone are often over 200 dollars.

We're flying March 7-17 and paid less this year out of Syracusse than last year from Montreal but only because I switched our Sunday departure to the following Tuesday. So a we're a we'd - tues. It was 350 each vs 440 (taxes in for both) last year. Overall I found prices much higher and I Am not a believer of waiting to see if prices go down - especially if you are flying during peak time like March break. I have watched my flights over the years and not only do they go up continually but they sell out almost always a month before we leave.

We went in June of this year and it was very close to $800 for 2 adults round trip from Toronto to Orlando (including taxes). We are going again this January and I found a good deal on tickets. We are paying $598 for 2 adults round trip again taxes included.

We have flights booked on JetBlue for January. $995.00/for 5 people return taxes in. BUF-MCO. Pretty good but still significantly more than a few years ago. We once flew from BUF- San Francisco- 336.00 return taxes in for 3people!!!

We paid $1879 for three of us out of Halifax direct to Orlando...not a great deal, but we fly direct. Once we jump on in Hali we don't have to get off again till we arrive in MCO. When travelling with kids it's less stressful!

My costs are way up this year,,so much so that I'm choosing to stay home next Christmas and only head south in March from now on.

Hugs Mel

Wow ... this was more one sided than I expected.

Basically 21% thought prices were the same, and 9% thought they were much lower. 70% thought that prices where slightly higher or much higher.

This confirms what I've been seeing ... that there is new higher pricing schedule for airfares.
