Last September (2010) our flights were $1042 for 4 round trip, BUF to MCO.

This year, Dec. our flights are $935 all in for the same flight.

We always fly Southwest out of Buffalo and lately their fares have increased but are still much cheaper than flying out of TO. This year we got $1100 for 4of us to Orlando for our upcoming Dec Trip which is not bad but I do miss the lower fares (one year we paid $598 for 4 roundtrip during March Break). At least you still get two free bags per person. :)

Cost out of Bangor ME in Jan 2012 would be about the same price as we paid in Dec 2010, however we checked Air Canada from Saint John (YSJ) and although the price initially looked higher, when 2 night's hotel (coming and going) and the price of gas to Bangor factored in, they work out to about the same price ... maybe just the time of year, but it seems Air Canada may have come down a bit.....
My only gripe this year is if I fly from Saint John OR Fredericton to Montreal and connect to the SAME flight from Montreal to Disney, to fly out of Fredericton is $300 more per PERSON (but Fredericton is closer to Montreal than Saint John??????) Why?????????????????:confused3:confused3:confused3

We are especially lucky in that we live so close to Buffalo. We can be there in under an hour. If I had to pay Canadian flight prices we would drive. End of story. We rent points or use deep discounts and I just couldn't go as often if paid as much for our flights as the rest of our trip.
We booked DirectAir out of Niagara Falls,NY for May.
Mixed reviews so far but it was a 50% off sale and several friends have used them with great results so I will try. If for some reason it gets cancelled we'll drive.

We're paying less this year ...but we are flying with Direct Air (no frills)..We flew Jetblue last Feb and paid $109 (with one stop) to MCO. This year we are flying Direct Air for March break and paying $79 non stop. The price to fly with Jetblue for our dates if over $400 pp.

Pigletto - we feel the same way...my friends have used them and have book again this winter. they had NO problems and prefer the small airport. we also have decided to drive or try to book a flight more south. the good news is that we are travelling Fri to Fri - so if we have to waste time driving we have a couple of extra days on the weekend.

I hope it works out well for you guys fitmom! Post an update if you can:).

I've noticed they are higher too..... We got $89 each way (before taxes) BUF to MCO with southwest for our 2011 Canadian thanksgiving trip. The year before we only paid about $60 each way before taxes.

For our march 7-17th California and las Vegas trip we are going BUF to LAX, LAX to LAS, LAS to BUF and total for all 3 separate flights was $480 taxes in per person with southwest for the first 2 and JetBlue for the final one. Only plus there is we don't have the extra baggage fees. When I priced the same flights the year before they were at least $100 cheaper.

Car rental prices are defiantly higher too though..... I typically have been able to snag a week or just under a week car rental in a mid or full size for well under $100..... Our October trip I couldn't get the price to drop under $130.:confused3

We paid $1879 for three of us out of Halifax direct to Orlando...not a great deal, but we fly direct. Once we jump on in Hali we don't have to get off again till we arrive in MCO. When travelling with kids it's less stressful!

What airline did you fly to get a direct flight? I don't see any on either AC or WJ. We will be flying out of HFX the end of Sept.

We paid $2100 round trip on continental departing Halifax 17 dec return from Orlando 27 Dec. that was for five people, DH,myself,DD 19, DS 15,DS 13. The flight was not direct. It stopped in Newark but all worked out fine and we were extremely happy with price. We booked at 58 days before departure

After WEEKS of checking many airlines, I just booked four of us direct to Orlando from Manchester, NH for $1126! We are going March 4-12. Am very happy with that.:)

Flights are about the same the problem is it was easy to get low fares last year and this year you need to check daily for price drops and sign up for emails to get coupon codes. Two people round trip buf to mco was 360 tax in on JetBlue which is about the same as last year but this year I had to hunt daily and use a one day only 20% off coupon to get it and last year I just booked it one day when I noticed the price had dropped

We leave in 2 weeks and lucked out on our flight to MCO, $69 per person direct with SW out of Buffalo. Our flight home was $124.00 per person with SW.

Now we are keeping our eyes open for a deal in April. Right now our flights are at $124.00 each way....honestly not to sure if its going to drop much more.

Anyone remember when Southwest does their anniversary sale? Its early in the year and that is usually when you get the best price.

We paid $1040 for two people during the March Break, flying out of Syracuse. We could have had it at least $300 cheaper, but the flights would not have been as good. I would have lost at least 2 days due to travel. I was happy to pay the price so that way I got the flights that I wanted! Comparing flights from two years ago, when we went at March, to now, flights are waaaaaaaay up. Before we were able to travel for $600 for both of us. This is why we went to Texas last March break because the tickets were so cheap!

We paid almost $600 each (taxes in) for four people Halifax to Orlando direct in February (less than six weeks, lol ). It is slightly higher than we paid last year, although last year we didn't fly direct because it was significantly higher.

I envy those people who fly for $100-$200 per person! I have to drive five hours and usually stay overnight (additional cost) to fly for $600 each!! If I was close to an American airport, I'm afraid I would be going a lot more often, lol.

Yes, those airfares are DEFINITELY WAY UP!! I just managed to book our RETURN airfare MCO (Orlando) to YEG (Edmonton) for the 3 of us because I got a Christmas Pin Code from Air Canada....the outbound schedules where really not that good, so I only booked coming home so far.....for $969 for the three of us.....not bad, I thought....approx $300'ish each......
Now I am keeping my eyes peeled for the flights I want with WJ for end September.....I hope they fall from the $369 plus taxes (equalling $500) ea that they are currently sitting at!!! :scared1: and that's only ONE WAY! :scared1:

I agree -- the regular fares are way up. Some of the seat sales are excellent though, so I booked our return flight for $117 pp all incl. for Feb. Still hunting for our departure though. :surfweb:

It's weird though -- prices seem to be all over the place. On the same day we got our direct flight home, we could have taken flights with 2 stops for $379 each (and that was the seat sale fare) :confused3

I am going in Sept (8-22) and my flight is 388.USD and change including fees and taxes return from Seattle and back (I live in Vancouver). Last year it was around 570. USD (when we were at par).

I have been checking daily through westjet and airtran from Portland and they are a lot more then I paid last year...I keep hoping for a drop for our April trip.
