This tipping thing is really out of hand

I think as a work at home mom, I'm going to leave a tip jar on my dashboard and expect the kids to tip me for driving them to school, to practice, to scouts, to the mall. Then I'm going to leave another one in the kitchen for the countless meals and snacks I prepare. Another on their bureau if they expect clean clothes. Another by the phone for each time I set up a play date or doctor's appointment. Another in each room for after I clean it. Boy, I'll be heading back to Disney in no time just on tips!!!!!

We are leaving on our 3rd NCL cruise next month, and never had an issue with service. I prefer the service charge over the envelopes (and envelopes can't work on NCL, because your servers are never the same). Sorry you ended up with bad service - everyone we have encountered on board has gone above and beyond for us. They really ask that you complain while on the ship, so they can take care of the situation, before removing the service charge, because it is there for most of the employees, including those behind the scenes.

That was my issue, there was no one horrible instance to discuss. It was an overall attitude that was prevalent on the ship. The Maitre 'D in the French restaurant was wonderful, and the waitress was good. The Maitre 'D in the second main dining room was very nice. And the Kids Staff was amazing. Other than that, it was a general attitude of uncaring that prevailed among all of the staff. I would've complained had there been an actual incident. But it was small things that were constant. For instance, several times when our drinks were being refilled, the server refilling was having a conversation in their native language with another server who was standing there. This wasn't one server, it was most. So if you wanted to ask for more bread, you felt like you were interrupting. There was no conversation on greetings from any servers at the buffet. When being seated in the dining room the hostesses barely even looked at you. They took the number in your party, spoke to the seater, and you were just supposed to follow them. I'm used to someone saying hello to me. Or thank you. Or please. This was just sub mediocre.
