This time we did it right! (Updated 3/2!)

DH and I Loved Flights of Wonder at AK. We sat near the front towards the right side (when looking at the stage) and DH is tall!...soo he nearly got his head chopped off a couple of times by the birds..hahaha...but it was a really good show...its amazing how smart those birds are.
Well, I guess if you are sick..then you might have more time for more reports??????? If not stay in bed and rest up...really!!

We then checked out the Pangani Trail, where I fell in love with some gorillas!

I see you met my boyfriend from June - don't tell DH! :rolleyes1

Sounds like a great time at AK! I chuckled when the teenage girls got soaked on Kali River Rapids!

Flights of Wonder is on my list to see next time. I love to watch birds but just don't want them getting too close to me.

I love the picture of the baby elephant trying to get over the tree trunk and the gorilla by the waterfall - great pics!

That elephant was so cute...it was trying SO hard to get over that tree trunk.

We saw those teenage girls again later and they were STILL scowling!

OH, I would have freaked out if I were your DH!

This weekend has been rough with being sick! I hate being sick on the weekend. What a waste!

We then checked out the Pangani Trail, where I fell in love with some gorillas!

You too? That two timer!

I thought I would have gotten a bunch of installments done while I was sick, but all I wanted to do was watch Food Network (even though I don’t have an appetite and I’ve never liked that channel before!) The bad news is that I have a new addiction to add to disboards. DH will be so happy. The good news is that we’re going to have quite a Thanksgiving! DH will be SO happy!

There aren't many pics in this installment...it was raining SO much, I was reluctant to take my camera out!

When last I left you, Sarah and I were on the bus on the way to MGM. It had been raining and we were pretty wet, and the air conditioning was on on the bus, so we were COLD!!!!

By the time we reached MGM, the rain had stopped for the most part. We made our way into the park and I saw that Sorcerer’s hat and felt a wave of happiness.

PA270145-1.jpg

I LOVE MGM!!!! I took in the sights, sounds and smells of MGM and then we made our way over to Tower of Terror.

PA270149.jpg

The stand-by time was 20 minutes! Yay! We got fastpasses and then got in the stand-by line. This was Sarah’s first time on Tower of Terror and I couldn’t wait for her to experience it. Well, the 20 minute wait turned into 30 minutes. Which turned into 40 minutes. Which turned into 50 minutes. We did not mind the wait so much though because while we were waiting, it started POURING monsoon-style. We were lucky to be under cover in the line! Also, there was a Streetmosphere actor entertaining people in line. I can’t remember his name, but he was a movie director. And he was hilarious. I was, of course, wearing my Minnie ears, and he said “Darling, your ears! They’re gorgeous. Don’t change a thing. And don’t ever get them pierced.” Also, there was a group of about 5 young Latino men in line who were all singing together. They weren’t very good, but they were entertaining!

So finally, we were shown to the library (is that right?) and we watched Rod tell us about that stormy night at the Hollywood Tower Hotel. It was even cooler than usual because it was storming outside. Then we made our way through the basement over to the freight elevator and something went seriously wrong with that elevator ride. It was so much fun! I just love that ride. And Sarah loved it too. We both couldn’t wait to use our FPs!

After exiting ToT, we checked the wait time for Rock N Roller Coaster. It said 50 minutes, but the line didn’t look very long, so decided to join the line. But first, a bathroom stop.

Disney is so educational. They even tell you how to wash your hands!
PA270148.jpg

Back to the RnRC line. There was a cute 10 year old girl right by us in line with her dad and she talked to us the whole time about Hannah Montana and High School Musical and other super interesting stuff, which definitely helped to pass the time. It was raining the whole time we waited, so we tried not to ever be without a roof over our heads!

Then, it was our turn to go into the recording studios, where we found out we would get back stage passes at the Aerosmith concert. We are so lucky! We asked to be in the front car on this ride, and it was a very short wait for the front. The front was tons of fun! Sarah loved it too.

At some point around here, Beth and Jason called and said they weren’t going to come meet us at MGM. They decided they were going to go to church and be back in time for our Boma ADR. So feeling like bad Catholics for not even thinking bout going to church, Sarah and I forged on.

When we were done with Rock n Roller Coaster, our ToT FP time had come, so we hopped in the FP line for ToT. We walked right up into the library and watched Rod again. This time, there was a group of young adults in there who were talking in another language and laughing SO loudly through the entire video. I gave all of them as mean of a look as I could muster, but that didn’t make them stop…I think it just made them louder. It appeared as though they were enjoying ruining everyone else’s time. I don’t get it…why would you come to Disney World and act like that? Go over to Universal Studios or something. Just kidding! Okay, rant over.

Anyways, our ride on the elevator was even better (worse?) this time than the first time. I LOVED it of course. And Sarah was a big fan. She said that this was also her favorite ride so far.

After ToT and RnRC, Sarah and I tried to decide what to do next. We didn’t want to do too much without Beth and Jason. So we just checked our a few shops and made our way out of the park. I just LOVE MGM. We would be back again in 2 days, so I said farewell for now.

It was pouring again when we RAN over to the bus for AKL. The bus arrived about one minute after we got to the bus stop. So lucky! And we were on our way back home.

A pic of a big creation in the AKL lobby:
PA270166.jpg

We went to our room, said hello to some giraffes, and I made some notes in my TR-minded notebook while Sarah took a shower.

Next up: An African feast at Boma!

Now it was 8:00 and time for our dinner at Boma. For me, this was one of the most highly anticipated parts of the trip. A little back story: Last time I was at Disney World, I was with Beth and Jason and we could not get into Boma (we didn’t plan ahead). We ate at Jiko instead, which was delicious. But we were still envious of the people dining at Boma. So we promised ourselves that we would dine at Boma our next trip.

So here we were, at Boma, ready to get our eat on!

We ordered some drinks. Sprite for Beth and me, Coke for Jason, Diet Coke for Jason’s mom, and red wine of some sort for Sarah. And waters all around. The drink order becomes important later.

After we ordered our drinks, we set out from our table like wild animals to hit that buffet. I checked out the salad portion of the buffet…forget it! I’m not wasting precious room on salad! So I dished me up some soup. Carrot ginger and chicken coconut curry to be exact. The chicken coconut curry soup was divine. The carrot ginger was THE BEST SOUP I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! I could have eaten a gallon of that stuff. But there were other things that needed to be eaten!

Somewhere in here, the server came back with our drinks. He came with 3 Sprites, 2 Diet cokes, and a glass of wine. And no water. And he dropped the drinks and ran! Not to be seen again for about 10 minutes. Beth and I tasted the Sprite and there was no syrup in it, it was just bubbly water. So we all agreed that whoever was at the table when he came around again would ask for the correct drinks. It was a good think we weren’t counting on him for our dinner!

This is my next plate. I will do my best to tell you what everything is!

PA270151.jpg

Clockwise from top left, here we go: A barbeque rib (I don’t love ribs, but I thought I should try it and it was good), a wafer-y bread-y thing I don’t remember the name of, but it was very interesting, sweet potatoes (Yum!), roasted veggies (yum!), green beans with curry (SO good!), roasted potatoes (delicious), and some rice in the middle (the rice was bland compared with all the other flavors on the plate). My first plate was delicious. I was soon off to the buffet for my next plate!

Sarah and I eating:

P1020970.jpg

This is my flat bread (can’t remember what it was called) with three kinds of hummus. All 3 kinds of hummus were delicious. I ate every bit of that!

PA270152.jpg

Next I tried some prime rib. It was very good, but it was cold by the time I got it back to the table (my fault), so I didn’t eat much of it. I can’t remember what else is on this plate.

PA270153.jpg

And now for the best part (next to the soup), DESSERT!!!

Here’s my plate:

PA270155.jpg

Clockwise from top: a Zebra Dome (just as good as everyone says!), chocolate mousse (SO TASTY!), banana bread pudding with caramel sauce (Yum Yum Yum!), and something I can’t remember. After this, I was STUFFED!

Sarah’s dessert plate:

PA270154.jpg

I HIGHLY recommend Boma. Our meal there was excellent. The flavors of all the food are very interesting and very delicious. I will definitely be back.

After dinner, we checked out the AKL gift shop, where Blaize met a crazy duck!

PA270159.jpg

By then it was 10:45 and we had MK EMH in the morning. So it was off to bed for us! We said goodnight to our animals and went to sleep. What a wonderful day!

What a great day you had, Julie! I love the Tower of Terror, also! But I HATE when those damn tour groups ruin everything. If you're going to be an obnoxious brat (regardless of where you're from) get off the ride and out of the park! I don't know why Disney doesn't say anything to them when they ruin the rides, attractions and shows for everyone. Ugh. Sorry, that was a huge gripe of mine on our 2005 trip. I had more than one run-in with these tour groups and they were absolutely horrible.

On a brighter note, how great is Boma?! The food there is so exotic and different, at least compared to the normal theme park food. I remember the flatbread and hummus being delicious, and the Zebra Domes are amazing! I love all your pictures of the food, I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm starving! :lmao:

Are you feeling any better? It turns out I didn't have the flu but strep throat. Yes, fun stuff. I went on an antibiotic two days ago and I already feel so much better. It's funny that you were addicted to the Food Network, though. When I had the flu last winter I found myself addicted to the Home and Garden channel, which I never normally watch. I watched home decorating shows for hours on end :lmao: I guess being sick leaves you looking for new things to keep you entertained! I hope you're feeling better!

I'm enjoying all the pictures, too. I agree on the Flame Tree cornbread - it is scrumptious!

Sorry that your ToT experience was marred by others. I know that was annoying. However, on the lighter-hearted side of that adventure, I'd love to see a picture of the mean face you gave them!

We're scheduled to leave again on Friday, so if the good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise....we'll be there sometime Saturday morning.

For a SweetT fan to say that's the best soup they've ever tasted is a glowing recommendation.......I'll have to try it. I love soup.

Well besides the rude group at TOT and the rain, it sounds like you and Sarah had alot of fun! Boma looks delicious! Hmmmmm, gives me ideas!

I am feeling much better today. Thank you for asking!

I hope you're all better! Strep is terrible.

I think I have my Food Network addiction under control now. It's funny that you were addicted to HGTV! That seems like it could be an expensive addiction!

Have a great time! I'm so jealous that you're going again, you lucky girl!

Oh, you absolutely need to try the soup. Sweet Tomatoes soup is put to shame by the carrot ginger at Boma. I'm sorry to say it. Sweet tomatoes just won't be the same now. Yeah right! We're going there tomorrow for dinner!

Yeah! I'm all caught up!

Loving your report! Keep it coming!

Thanks for reading!:goodvibes

You should definitely do Boma if you have time on you next trip. It was awesome.

Sorry to hear you are sick, hope you are feeling much better now. I enjoyed your updates, your picture of ToT made me homesick for it. I can't wait to ride it again, and being with newbies is going to be so cool. I hope we don't have loud obnoxious people ruining it!!!
Bomas looked delicious, it's not on my list this year, but I really want to try it now, I guess I will need to start planning another trip.
Did you ever get the correct drinks?

I'm all better now! Thanks for the well wishes!

You are going SO soon!

Yes, Boma is the perfect excuse to plan another trip. ;)

Before I start on our Magic Kingdom morning, I need to finish telling about Boma! I forgot to finish my story about the waiter bringing all the wrong drinks. Well, we never did get water, despite asking for it THREE times. Jason never did get a regular coke. But Beth and I got about 4 sprites for each of us. I have no idea what was going on with that waiter, but I am VERY thankful that we didn’t have to depend on him for our meal! Boma was still a delightful experience despite the service!

Back to the TR!

This morning, our wakeup call came at 6:00 a.m. because we had Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom this morning. Again, Sarah and I hopped out of bed to check for the animals on the Savannah. Unfortunately, however, it was still dark out and not even the animals were crazy enough to get up at that hour! We got ready pretty quickly (as evidenced by how disgusting I look in all the pics of me from today), and then headed down to Mara.

PA270160.jpg

Yep, it was dark!

I got some oatmeal and O.J.

PA270161.jpg

Sarah got one of the big breakfast platters and a cup of coffee. As would become her tradition, she put ice her in first cup of coffee, then chugged it. Then she refilled her coffee and brought that one with in the car. I have no idea how she did that! It made me sick just to watch!

I almost fell on the floor when Beth, Jason, and Blaize were actually in the lobby of AKL at 7:15 as planned! I need to reiterate that Beth is late to every single thing in her whole life. Yes, even her wedding and Blaize’s birth! Anyways, I was SERIOUSLY impressed.

We brought a pumpkin with us, being Halloween time and all!

PA270167.jpg

After parking the car, taking the tram to the monorail, and taking the monorail, we finally walked through the turnstyles at about 8:05 and headed to Fantasyland for Little Ones Extra Magic Hours.

PA270168.jpg

PA270170.jpg

Beth got a picture of me seeing all the fall decorations for the first time. I had NO idea this pic existed until right now when I was uploading the pics to photobucket.

P1020979.jpg

The main objective was to get pics of Blaize with characters and maybe take him on a few rides.

A pumpkin and a pumpkin:

P1030025.jpg

The characters started to appear from all directions. Captain Hook, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, and even the big guy himself, Mickey Mouse!

It was SO cute when Mickey Mouse came out…there was a little girl, probably 4 years old, who saw him and shouted “Mickey! Mickey! Over here!” And then she started jumping and screaming. It was so cute. Did I already say that?

Well, little did we know, the characters weren’t there to take pictures…they were there to actually PLAY with the kids. They were playing duck, duck, goose and some other games. So Beth and Blaize tried to sneak in next to some characters while I took pictures. We were admonished by the characters’ bouncers or bodyguards or whatever every time! But we did it anyway. Yep. That’s how we roll!

Some (not so) sneaky pics:

P1020982.jpg

PA270176.jpg

Then we headed over to It’s a Small World. I really don’t like this ride one bit. I know, I know, it’s a Disney classic. But it FREAKS me out. To me, it looks like the perfect setting for a horror movie. And that’s all I can think about when I’m on my boat there.

PA270177.jpg

But you know who loved it?!? Blaize! He was enthralled with all of the dolls and he seemed to love the music. It was very cool to watch him enjoying it so much.

P1020987.jpg

After It’s a Small World, Sarah and I headed over to wait at the entrance to Tomorrowland for the 9 a.m. opening. There were a lot of people waiting there, but Sarah and I were two of the closest people to the front! And the cast members were doing an excellent job of keeping everyone behind the imaginary line.

Promptly at 9:06 on my watch, they let us start walking! This may sound crazy, but this was such an adrenaline rush for me. I loved it.

Of course there were some rule-breakers running to get there first and I thought they were butt heads. However, as we got closer to Space Mountain and the adrenaline was flowing freely, Sarah and I may have started running just a teeny bit. So we became the butt heads. Oh well! That’s how we roll.

We made it to Space Mountain and decided not to get a FP because we wanted to get a FP for BTMRR after we were finished in Tomorrowland. So we did the stand-by line and walked right up to our little space shuttle (is that what they are?) and took off for our adventure. I always forget just how much I love this ride. I love not being able to tell where you’re going. And I love feeling like my head is going to get chopped off by the roller coaster tracks! It all adds to the excitement! I seriously laugh the whole time I am on this ride. So much that my abs are a little sore when I get off. What a work out!

After Space Mountain, we did Buzz Lightyear. My gun MUST have been broken cuz I got 34,000 or something like that. Sarah got 75,000. Darn broken guns.

After Buzz, we headed over to Frontierland and called Beth and Jason on the way. We met up with them, and saw that they were hanging out with the Fairy Godmother. She was SO cute with Blaize. She played with him for a long time. I think she liked him even more because he was a pumpkin.

P1030003.jpg

PA270182.jpg

Sarah and I took their park passes, and obtained FPs for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We then all met up at Haunted Mansion. The sun was starting to come out and it was looking like we were going to have our first sunny day at Disney! The stand-by line for Haunted Mansion was only 5 minutes. We headed into the room with our Ghost Host and stood under the lady with the umbrella. I LOVED the new parts of Haunted Mansion. That whole bride thing is so cool!

Oh, Blaize found a new friend:

PA270187.jpg

After Haunted Mansion , we used our FPs for BTMRR. Have they changed this ride? It is so much better than I remember it! I had a blast! Sarah and I went first and then I got to hold my little buddy while Beth and Jason went on.

While they waited, Beth put her Minnie ears on Jason. He loved it!

P1030017.jpg

We then got FPs for Splash Mountain. And we decided it was time for a little treat.

Can anyone guess what we all had for the first time and is now my favorite treat in all of Disney World?!?

If you were in Frontierland still...a turkey leg?

If in Adventureland....a Dole Whip?

Did you knock over any kids on the way to Space Mountain? 10 points if you did...;)

The little pumpkin, Blaize, is an absolute cutie.

Your favorite little punkin is just too cute! I love the hat! Good job on getting the "sneaky pics" - just like Jordan! Good training for Blaize :thumbsup2

Blaize is so stinking cute! Love the pics of him and the one of Beth and Jason with the Mickey ears on. Your reaction shot came out great too, didn't the Halloween decorations look awesome?! Makes me want to go back again. I'm going to guess that you had a Mickey Head iceceam :confused3

Blaize is soo cute! His pumpkin costume is much cuter than his Prof. Plumb costume. :rotfl2:

Sounds like a great start to the day at MK - you have done so much!!

I'll never feel the same way about It's a Small World again! :rotfl:

Hi!:goodvibes Sorry about being MIA around here.I just read the last three updates and they were great.:thumbsup2 You got alot done and seem to be having a blast.Blaize is too cute for words.

Sorry to hear you were sick and glad you are feeling better.

My guess is a Dole Whip...popcorn::
