Could you imagine? "Mickey, just one more photo please-- you blinked."

You laugh..... but that could totally be the case.
OK, I'll laugh too!

Your not serious are you? This is a joke right?

She is serious; she has asked this before and received the same answers, Uncanny Valley and all

Hold on tight then... it'll be here before you know it... specifically Mickey at Town Square. He has already appeared on three seperate occasions, as recent as YESTERDAY (April 9th).
I still don't entirely understand what the "uncanny valley" thing. I can see how the blinking sends it into the valley, but i guess i don't understand the concept fully.![]()

Th Uncanny Valley is the section of the graph that plots how uneasy people feel about human robotics and/or zombies - the creepiness factor at its greatest. I see that prosthetics are within the valley and I totally agree with that though it makes me feel badly that I do!
Really??? A character with a movable eyelid terrifies someone. Man I sure hope nothing really terrifying ever happens. I think they are cool and brought just one more degree of believability to Disney Characters.
1. I think the problem is that they DIDN'T add "just one more degree of believablity", they took it away with sloppy mechanics. I think the problem is that the eyelash doesn't move with the eyelid. If it did, that would give visual clues of the blink. But when they eyelash is just under the brow, that indicates that the eye is open, but it is blank. This makes it look like the eye is missing or gouged out or something.
2. I don't think it's something people understand -- it took me a while to figure out. But we are hardwired to look for faces, as that it is a very important survival need for infants to recognize their caretakers faces and bond with them by smiling, etc, so the caretakers will keep taking care of them. This is an ancient reflex, which also explains why we so often clearly see faces random patterns in clouds or burned toast or dunes on Mars. When there is something not as expected in the face, it causes a gut reaction of fear and horror. That's the Uncanny Valley effect -- close enough to human to provoke ancient reflexes, but not human enough to seem right, so it causes discomfort.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of TPE The Movie?![]()
We saw this Minnie and Mickey on Wheel of Fortune. Every time they would blink, the kids and I would scream in horror!

In the meantime, to get a little prospective try thinking about terrorist, cancer, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, plane crashes, droughts, floods, drive by shootings and so on. Kinda makes Mickey Mouse blinking an eye seem pretty docile and insignificant doesn't it?
I've never been in the right "mood" to try to watch it.
The clips are so eerie/creepy/zombie-like that I don't want to spend much time with it.
The scene where Santa comes out and he is trying to see him is among my favorite Holiday Movie favorites of all time.I used to feel this way, but I gave it a chance and managed to climb up out of the valley a couple of years ago. It's not a bad little movie.
