This TERRIFIES me! Do they blink?!

Really??? A character with a movable eyelid terrifies someone. Man I sure hope nothing really terrifying ever happens. I think they are cool and brought just one more degree of believability to Disney Characters.

In the meantime, to get a little prospective try thinking about terrorist, cancer, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, plane crashes, droughts, floods, drive by shootings and so on. Kinda makes Mickey Mouse blinking an eye seem pretty docile and insignificant doesn't it?

No one is comparing these--that's ridiculous. But the appearance of this can be unnerving on a very basic level for some. Others it does not bother--to each their own. For example, I see no need to panic over Peter. :)

People have all sorts of irrational fears. Do you feel better now? I can't stand when somebody comes and comments just to be rude.

Seriously - this really scares me! PLEASE tell me they DON'T BLINK at Disney World! I know I asked this a few months back, but now I am freaked because this was on an advertisement!! :scared1:

Hold on tight then... it'll be here before you know it... specifically Mickey at Town Square. He has already appeared on three seperate occasions, as recent as YESTERDAY (April 9th).

Really, this terrifies you:confused3? Things like another 9/11 terrifies me. Maybe try putting things into perspective.

Which Mickey was there? The really expensive never going to be a regular feature Mickey or Uncanny Valley (aka MP3) Mickey?

Or do we have a new category Blinkie Mickey. Blinks but does not talk?

I was just watching Disney Junior with DS and noticed the Mickey in the Disneyland ad was blinking. Weird!

I also agree that Minnie's eyelashes need to blink with her eyelid. That is the freakiest part!

Very interesting, thanks!

I haven't been since Thanksgiving of 2008 and I remember all the characters on the castle stage show blinking, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale.

At the very least, for the sake of us photographers, they need to have them blink in unison, so fewer of my shots are ruined. ;)

I noticed it on the stage show last year and wondered to myself if they would be bringing that feature to the M&G costumes as well. Personally I thought it was neat because it added another dimension of realism for the kids.

To each his own though.

Couldn't you get a "sharpie" marker and just color in the pupils on your computer monitor?? :confused3

I personally think they are great! Especially with my kids. The blinking and mouth moving that some of them do make them appear "real" as opposed to a costume! One of the first things my son asked on his first trip (he was 3) was why they don't move their mouths and blink! I think it adds a quality of "realness" to the characters!

They both blink together when they kiss during the show. It never crossed my mind that someone could find it terrifying. I think it is sweet. :goodvibes

I thought it was fairly obvious we were not talking about that level of terror. Try to stay focused folks...why do people constantly question others people's opinions on here, drives me crazy.

And in response to the original post, I think it's creepy too! But talking might be cool, just so I dont have to field the inevitable question from my kids as to why they dont talk to them! LOL! :rotfl:

First post in 5 months just to :rotfl2: at this thread. Are we really worried about blinking characters? Sounds like an episode of Maury.

"Blinking Mickey" appeared at Chef Mickey's? That's the first report I've read of that. To my knowledge he's only appeared in staged appearances and in extremely isolated cases.

Could you imagine? "Mickey, just one more photo please-- you blinked."

:rotfl2:
