Good lord - I started cycling two weeks ago. I still look awkward. My helmet is neither shiny nor new - in fact, it's ten years old and the stickers are peeling off. My tires are well inflated. My bike is caked in mud from last week. I managed to snap one of my light fittings already. I debated putting my bell from when I was 5 with Mickey on it, but I decided against. Does this mean I look experienced? Because I still walk my bike across the pedestrian crossings at busy junctions!

Before I started wasting time on the internet, I actually thought Americans as a group were reasonably intelligent, good-hearted people.
