This really bugs me...Is this another "dumbing" of America??

I keep seeing ads for a new program on NBC called "World Reax. This bugs me to no end!!!! Why can't they spell "reacts" the way it is supposed to be??? How are we supposed to expect our children to spell correctly when the "news folks" spell words like this?? Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with this?

They must be part of the "creative spelling" generation.

It bugs me too. It's one thing to use creative spelling for product names but when the subject is of such importance it's shameful.

You all need to get out on the net more, that is what I call d00d speak, it is what all the posturing kids do in purposely misspelling words, or using unusual characters to spell words. Really childish.

I find it annoying too. I'm a gamer and it's used a lot by people (mostly kids) who game online. This page might help explain it a bit.

This confuses the heck out of children. My DS (7) always asks why it's spelled that way, especially FROOT LOOPS. I tell him that the marketing people must have been sick the day they reviewed the word Fruit. There is no excuse to purposely mis-spell words.

Reminds me of one of my pet peeves. Our kids love the Land Before Time videos but it drives me crazy to hear the characters butcher the english language. "Me Loves watching the sky stars fall - Oh yes yes yes!!!" AAAAaargh!!!

That is correct! Froot loops have nothing to do with fruit, that is why they could not spell it correctly.

How about Toys R us? why is the R backwards?

That just drives me crazy!

Years ago though, I was mistakenly referring to the band INXS as "inks", lol.
