This place has more cliques than HS

I just needed to post. I really enjoy the Dis but more and more I notice the cliques. I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. If anyone is interested in starting a new one, let me know I'll join

Seriously, I see certain people getting ignored for legimate posts asking for "PIXIE DUST" while another popluar member may post about the parakeets feather loss and get 35 pages of "PIXIE DUST" sent their way. Whassup with that?

I don't think it is cliques', I think it has to do with how much a person can relate to the post.

I can read a lot of theads and not reply, because many people reply how I would of and I hate repetiveness.

Sometimes people have really bad problems, and I might not be intelligent enough to response to the problem. I guess I could use some of the faces for a response.

I don't know, maybe "cliques" just happen over time. Some of the little groups have been running for a long time. People have developed a history together.

I have never had an "old timer" be anything less than sweet to me. I am sure had I gone knocking at the tagliarchy (just for example, because I like llebreknit's name!) I would have been warmly welcomed.

As far as prayers and pixie dust, I sometimes can read them and sometimes they are very difficult due to dealing with cancer in our family. Sometimes I just don't have it to give, but give a bit to people like delswife and Pembo, etc., because they have begun to feel like friends.

I don't belong to any groups here, although I do hang out with the warped personalities on the DB on occasion. But it has taken a year, and not just a couple of months to settle in.

Not trying to flame, but to give a different perspective. It seems like someone started a group for unattached folks recently, also.

Also remember some people have been on here since the very beginning and have grown to have some deep friend relationships.

But like another person posted, if the post is not that much to do with something that interests me, then 1) I don't read through the whole post and 2) I don't post to it. If it's someone asking for PD because their nail is about to fall off, then I'm sorry, let the nail fall off and don't worry about it. But if it's something that someone is in dyer (sp?) straits or they have a family member that has just died or is dying, then I'll post.

Also I'm not on every day and when a post is down to the 3rd page I'm not going to necessarily drudge it all back up. And like cliques in high school, it's a little petty to being worrying about it as well - worrying about if you belong or not. You will grow to get to know people here and won't necessarily be the same people that are already in a "clique" here. And those relationships will mean the world to you later and that will mean more than whether or not you are in a clique or part of a clique.

I chat to people on the TAGLIARCHY all the time. We are really friendly and get new people joining us all the time. We would love it if anyone would like to join us on the TAGLIARCHY island. Please drop by we are not a clique and welcome anyone new.

right onto the S/D cheerleaders post.......Now I am not a cheerleader and I have stayed at the dolphin on a number of occasions.......First off......the people there welcomed me with open arms and said for me to come again.......so then I did......then I posted because we were on the way to Disney and they said way to go....and wished me luck getting my addictive love for Hot Rice chili bits or better known as hot rice crackers and my plum wine.....try to join in ....on any post.....it is a lot of fun

To OP-Are you talking about groups of users who have a dedicated thread or are you talking about users who seem to "know" each other and have, I guess, a "history" that leave the rest of us going ?

It's funny you mention feeling you're on the outside looking in. I often think about people on the DIS and talk about all of you to my friends. I wonder if anyone ever thinks about me or something I have posted.

One of my favorite DIS moments was when I did the "K" exchange. The person who had me (for the life of me I can't remember who it was, I need to look that up) did a search of my name, and really tailored her exchange gift to what she knew about me. She knew I was going ona cruise so she sent $ to buy a Konk Kooler. She sent Hello Kitty scented glitter because she thought my little girls would enjoy it. She also sent a picture of herself and her family. That let me know that I did have some effect on the DIS - people did know that I exist.

Ya know what -- it's only human nature. I just post on all the pixie dust posts I see and don't even think about it. I also don't get my panties in a bunch about posting on a website. I think the majority of people are wonderful, but I doubt I will ever meet more than two or three ever in real life, so I try to keep it all in perspective. I'm grateful for the online friendship and getting answers and advice when I need it, pixie dust when I need it and let all the other stuff go.

That's my point! I think it takes time to figure out where you belong! I like the DB and the CB. I diddle around both of them. I have asked numerous questions and given numerous opinions, and if anyone was rude or unkind it was invariably someone new, not an established member.
