This piece of luggage, will it pass for carry on?

I have two bags that measure 18 x 12 x 12 each and I can't remember if I have ever used them for carry on or checked luggage with Delta. I thought I had carried them on, but I just can't remember. Any idea if they will pass for carry on? One of them actually still has a luggage tag on it from our last trip, but I can't make heads or tales of it.

Delta’s current restrictions are 22x14x9. I have seen bags taken on that seem higher then 9 inches, but if the flight is one of their smaller jets there may be an issue with the height.

It theoretically fails Delta's carry on size test although some gate agents might not be attentive and call you out on it.

Are you referring to this kind of tag (note: picture is similar, probably not exact)?

If so, it's "card stock" at best, I wouldn't call it cardboard. AND, for Delta, that's what they use for the CARRY ON bags (but I think only on planes where they need to be put under the plane and returned to you in the jetway).

Are what you get if it was a CHECKED bag. I'm almost positive, that even if you bring a carry on bag to the gate and they offer to check it to your final destination, they still put one of these tags on. These are just sticker paper.
