Woke up to having work men on my deck. They were apparently painting the building and were using my balcony as a staging point. Yesterday they stayed on their platform but were outside our windows and balcony all day. It’s not their fault. I offered them Gatorades which they were grateful for but I did pay for a balcony which has been unusable . Not a vacation ruined scenario but it’s a little disappointing

although it did give us quite a fright to open our eyes (due to loudness) and see 3 dudes sitting on our balcony

Have you spoken to them at the front desk, perhaps you could move rooms to an area that is not being worked on?
It’s ok. I’m sure they will move on eventually. It’s just a bit disconcerting

Wow, seems pretty insane that a hotel would put a guest in a room with that scenario. I would def. talk to the front desk and ask to be moved... how ridiculous.

Save your breath. We stayed At BWV in 2017 and when we checked in I walked into our room and found 1) a soaking wet carpet that had just been shampooed and 2) a bunch of workers ON our balcony painting the building.

I turned around and went back to the front desk and asked to be moved and was told flat out NO. They were actually rather rude about it. I was told the workers would be done working by 5pm and on to a different balcony tomorrow so I should just go to a park or something. Oh and that wet carpet, it'll probably be dry by the time you come back from the park. I was also told there were no other rooms available in my booking category so they couldn't move us.

Spoiler: the carpet was still wet and soaking my socks the next morning and the workers were on the balcony NEXt to ours the next day...so no way was I going to sit out there and relax.

^ I think it’s reasonable to gauge the temperature of a weird situation and see if others have objective views on it before making a fuss. I know I would likely do the same.

I also know that I would likely NOT be okay with waking up to three strangers on my balcony who can see into the room I’m sleeping in. I would consider that a serious invasion of privacy.

I think you should mention this to Management, personally...
